Rubedo : (28 July 2010 - 07:37 PM) I'll just go with "whatever comes first". Since VC's gonna be a steep learning curve and can't just headshot everything.
Flame : (28 July 2010 - 03:55 PM) Nothing much HLOG... Drama has been pretty low. There was "The Great Merge" in which one moderator thought the forum would look better if every topic was merged into just one. Ultimatly we decided against the new look he gave us.
Ash Crimson : (28 July 2010 - 01:42 PM) Thank you Chalryn, for that rather amusing link!
HLOG : (28 July 2010 - 12:13 PM) Working the late shift makes me dumb. I'd forgotten I poked my head back here. So did I miss anything in the long void between my visits so many years ago?
Chalryn : (28 July 2010 - 11:40 AM) Behold: Hard Gay Ramen!

Cel Merion : (28 July 2010 - 08:50 AM) I am no longer Jack of Allterades! I shall lead my flock as the master of Nu'un!

Actual DQ9 text, I swear.
Ash Crimson : (28 July 2010 - 06:47 AM) Look no further than Athrun's sig for the truth about VC.
Cel Merion : (28 July 2010 - 06:11 AM) AC has been around longer so you could get it for cheap. Also, giant custom robots. ##### yeah.
Flame : (28 July 2010 - 05:32 AM) Not Sure what AC4 is like... but VC is damn ##### awesome.
Noir : (28 July 2010 - 03:45 AM) AC4, obviousluy. And then for Answer. Then wait for 5.
Rubedo : (27 July 2010 - 10:51 PM) All this talk can get a man tempted. Vallkyrie Chronicles? Get it or Armored Core 4 first?

A red mage is a comboof both mages as well as the ability to melee a bit. A red mage role isn't the main nuker or the main healer in a party but a back up supporter of either of those two functions in a party. In other words your role is to be a multi-tasking supporter of the party. A bit of nuking, a bit of healing, a bit of enfeebling and debuffing as wellas refreshing your mages and paladins. Due to the multi-tasking role of a red mage, not every player will be a good red mage. During the early to mid levels, your invitewill be very slow due to the fact that you don't have enough of the high level black and white mages spells to be effective in a party. However that's change once youhit level 41. By level 41 you have two very important features, convert and refresh. Refresh is a special red mage spell that allows MP to gradually be restore duringtime. This spell is very valuable to be casted on the mages of your party. This will allow mages to have faster MP regeneration and reduces the sitting time for mages tosit and allow their MP to be restore. Convert is another unique feature that allows a red mage to switch their large amount of HP into MP thus restoring their MP pool which in turn will allow the party to continue to exp with the Red Mage acting as either a healer or nuker while the main healer or main nuker sit and rest to get their MPback. Post level 50, the demand for a Red Mage in a party is enormous to the point where parties can no longer function at it's full capacity without a red mage. At this point, invites that a red mage received is even greater than that of a white or black mage.
Depending on what situation you are in, a Red Mage can use either a sword or club. They have a higher rank with a sword which is rank at B. Meleeing with a swordis an ideal choice when you are soloing or in a party. At the higher levels you might want to move back from meleeing and just provide support with your magic andclub equip.
Sub Job Combos
Rdm/Blm: The most common job combo around for a red mage. Having a black mage for a sub gives the added MP and INT boost that a red mage needsto become a more effective back up nuker. With a black mage sub you become more of a back up nuker than a back up healer. You main duties are still to enfeeble anddebuff a mob in the party. Not to mention keep all the mages refresh.
Rdm/Whm: The second most common job combo is with a white mage as a sub. This give a boost to your overall MP and MP & HP regenerating traits. Not to mention more defensive boost to against magic attacks. You're role would be more of a back up healer than a nuker with a white mage as a sub.

This is one job that shines in soloing / ballista as well. The ability to buff / debuff / cure / nuke / melee all in one. haha.gif
I'm looking to test this out for myself in uncapped ballista once I hit 75 and have some merits under my belt. tongue.gif

Really good for merit parties as well, if you can get some good convert ratios. I do enjoy endgame much more on WHM or BLM though. Perhaps it is because my gear isn't gimp, but it's not too special.

RDM is the #####, I love this job so much more than the others I have leveled. From level 1 to 75 I have loved it I have over 80 merits just for RDM and have some of the best gear in the game (finally). It's definately the most rewarding job I picked up. The ability to solo pretty much what ever I want is awesome! My latest accomplishment is Genbu, in a record 2 hours 11 minutes! Bio III ftw! And for those people who think RDM cant solo Fenrir, they can. /BLU is an awesome sub for fenrir! If anyone's from Remora, gimme a yell, I'll be sure to say hi! ^^

Not too bad. I have not the patience for that. I like nuking better. My gear has improved for the job though. (Af2 hat, Crimson Legs, No nashira yet though. I have all but the legs.)

Id say that the red mage is probably 1 of the best mages to play for their ability to live. I like blm's personally because of the raw nuking, but red mages are really fun to plat to. You can get up their and hack away while casting your dmg and healing spells.

I dont know about you all but while I love my blm, going toe to toe with an easy con is gonna get you bitchslapped lol

Red Mage is a good job, not because it can solo though. But because it has the most effective enfeebling/support spells and skills for a non-bard mage.
You may ask yourself why I do not simply respond to threads after I've posted my view in. My reasoning is very logical, I have learned if I have to post my view more than once in said thread without any new points from any rival view it is thus over-redudant and a waste of MY time. I simply refuse to fall into any traps.

my rdm is my highest lvl class right now. but before the update i think it wasnt too bad at soloing. now because of the update it's better. least that's what i heard from a lot of other people that still use it. i havent been on in a while. but rdm's are awesome. they have decent physical attacks. blm spells(i sub a black so it makes it awesome), whm spells( you can sub but i dont...i probably should), and their own rdm spells(emfeebling stuff) woot! lol so high levels can stand for themselves. love em

Thank you DB for making this ^^
