During a pre Tokyo Game Show briefing, Capcom revealed that it's latest title for Mega Man, Mega Man X: Command Mission will be an rpg. This is a huge jump and new step for the Mage Man action platform series. Now rpg fans can embrace the popular action series that is one of Capcom flagship series.

This unique Mega Man rpg will still have the traditional moves that made Mega Man popular. Performing super moves and firing Mega Man's blaster with the addition of recruiting up to 3 party members to take part in a party while you explore the world. Expect your favorite Mega Man characters to be feature in this game.

Mega Man X is expected to arrive in Japan sometime in 2004 for the Playstation 2 and Gamecube.

Hmmm i'll have to wait till I see some screen shots on this one. I hope it's not like the mega man for the GBA which is to be a RPG I could never really get into that game. This would be a good game for cell shade if you ask me.

hmmm... well, if it's for the PS2 then I'll definaqtely try it. Of course, I like the 2D Megaman X games... so I'd be more excited if it was, say, Megaman Legends 3... but this will have to do.

Now that's different to hear, a Megaman RPG? Well it's a new twist, but hopefully it will be good game to play. It will change Megaman games to be.

I was hopeing this woulden't happan.

I know RPGs are the one of the best games genres ever but i don't think Mega Man should be done like an RPG, It's Fantasic with just doing the run across the screen and shoot bad guys i can't get enought of that.

The 64 and PS Mega Man games brought it out of the 2-D world but i found myself getting easily lost in the endless tunnels in search of the Mother Load.

Well I won't bash the game until i play it but i will always prefer the Nintendo and Super Nintendo Mega Man games it is what started it all.

Wow !!! This is cool, adventure game change to Rpg. I wonder how many chars we can use as PC. X, Zero ... who else ? XD The battle system looks awesome, look at that bottom right bar. Coolies.

Surprising stuff. First i had heard of it (just a few months late to the forum, apparently). Definitely worth a good look. I have a feeling it is gonna surprise me... i'll definitely check it out and keep some tabs on it.

I heard much about it,but the only thig I hate is that it often say Co-ops,but in real it only is that you can change character.I'm pretty sure that it was a lie and I hope so,since Co-op is my fav. game type and I just LOVE Zero(no,i'm not gay:D)

I'm looking forward to this game definitely. I was actually hoping for text based commandos for attacks like in FFX-2. Megaman X always had a somewhat interesting story. At least regarding Zero and his connection to the late Dr.Willy.

I hope they clear out some of the questions in this game.

I will probably get it when it comes. I'm not a big fan of magaman, but the concept sure sounds promising. It will be interesting to see how this works out.

Didn't bother to read ever1's posts so I'll just say this: That is so cool! I love Megaman and rpg games...both in one game!? I'm gonna buy this one.

I think this is going to be a really big step forward for MM games. Even though they are all really great, I think it'll be nice to have a bit of a change of pace.

Hmm I think this idea could potentially work out. I admit, Im a fan of the classic 2d side scrolling MM games. Also when Megaman Legends came out, I was a bit skeptical. I mean making a drastic change to a game, that has been so popular, and has managed to keep the core gameplay was a risk. However I fell in love with Megaman Legends. Even though 3d, and the story slightly changed, I felt it was worth to have the Megaman title on it. This is of course IMO

Im more anxious to play it, not just because its supposed to be an RPG, but just to see if they can change it up a bit, and it turn out good, like how Megaman Legends turned out. IMO of course.

Another note, I didnt feel like making a topic about it, so thought Id just post it here. Im not sure if its old news or not, but I read in PSM, that they are releasing a Megaman anniversary edition. Its going to have Megaman 1-8 on one PS2 disc, with a little updated music. Its also coming with 2 Megaman arcade games, Megaman Power Battle and Megaman the Power Fighters ( which werent released in states). Also its supposed to contain, commercials, artwork and other little bits and pieces about it.

Those were my first thoughts also. This could great if implemented properly. I guess the closest we've had to a Megaman RPG are Megaman Legends which weren't too bad actually!

But yeah, of this game is done right, imnagine some cool slash combos for Zero, Or Kick ass gunplay from Axl, and umm, some big ball beam from Mega man, hahaha! *sweatdrop*

I wouldn't call this a step forward, but a step in a different direction. The screenshots look nice, but im skeptical on what kind of battle system and story Capcom will come up with. Im a fan of the MMX series and i really hope they know what they're doing with this. Hopefully they'll use the MMX series storyline and explain some of the mysteries about what happened to Dr.Wily and about Zero.

This sounds really cool but I am not one for the whole transformation from 2d to 3d. I am much more of a fan of 2d games because they appear much nicer to the eye.

Look I was born playin Megaman games. I've played pretty much all of them from the original, on the Nintendo. To X on Super nintendo and playstation,and Ps2. To legends on the 64 and psx and this is lookin good....you can bet i'll be gettin it for the game cube...A megaman game is a megaman game none the less and its all good...

I couldn't agree more. I just pulled out my PSone and played the Megaman Legends 1 over again. Graphics are horrible compared to today's standards, but what a great game! I don't understand why they aren't making a #3.

what a terribly redundant way to *bump* a topic. But as long as it's here, I was wondering who's hopes were smooshed when they played command mission only to find it has nothing to do with the storyline from the first megaman X games or the indepth storyline being developed since Megaman X appeared on PlayStation.
