Square Enix announced over the weekend that it will be releasing a Director's Cut of Star Ocean 3 for Japanese gamers. No word on what new added features will be included in this Director's Cut but you can bet that it will fix some reported bugs that appeared in the game during the game first release in Japan.
Star Ocean 3 is expected to be release over here in North America in early spring. It's unclear at the moment on whether or not North American gamers will get the Director's Cut version.

Why don't they just release the director's cut version of SO3 over in America. If the americans were to get the director's cut, it would be much wiser if they just release the director's cut instead of both the original and the DC version. If the director's cut has added features with fixed bugs, why don't they release the original with the added features that is in the director's cut with the fixed bugs.

Its entirely reasonable to assume that the main flaw of the original releas, incompatibility with older model ps2s will be rectified for the American release.
Translation = Square Enix USA aren't idiots

.
Inclusion of these 'Director's Cut' features all depends on what exactly they are, how radically different it is to the original which SE USA must be well on the way to localising.
Be patient until more information is released.

It does'nt matter to me. SO3 is SO3. It would be cool if it had no bugs for more gameplay, but the DC will do. For now.

Personally im so anxious for SO3, I dont care which version they send... As long as the send it over to the US as soon as possible. After having so much fun playing SO2, the anticipation has been killing me. However if there are any -serious- bugs in the origional i would hope they would ship the DC version over here.

Amen moby. I have always said if your patient and wait all good things will come to you. This is one of those cases. If things are rushed they will be worse then if time were taken to do things right ~so speak the Dragon~

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if we get the directors cut instead of the original game, given the fact that it hasn't been released here. Either that or they'll release the directors cut as the original version or something.
At least, I think that'd make sense.

I'm just hoping that when its bought our here, there aren't any glitches that are gonna screw me over like both SO and SO2.

What glitches are those? I didn't notice a lot of glitches in SO2.

In SO1 (it was probaly the emulator and my obssessive us of speed up and save states) it would completely lock up on me and I'd have to reload a state from at least 5 minutes before or use a normal save after reseting it. For me I saved over too many states.. so I had to use the normal save which was 2 hours into the game while I was about 12 hours into the game.
S02 - The Field of Power, I have been trying to a year to get past it. But everytime I get the battle g;itch in which after a battle the screen stays black. I know it also can happen in the Secret dungeon.

That happened to me a lot as well, which is sad, SO1 was really quite a good game, despite the awkward movement system. It would have been a lot easier if you didn't have to press Y, move the cursor to where you want to move, and press A, just to try to dodge an attack.
I've been meaning to get SO3 when it comes out, and any bug fixes settle fine with me.

SO3 looks good, and I so loved SO2, to be honest glitches seem to be a pattern for me with tri-ace games including Valkyrie Profile.

Star Ocean 2 was one of the must entertaining RPG's i have ever played. Final Fantasy has a reputation for having deep characters and storylines. But S02 had a battle system like no other. Rather than just sitting there pressing X you have to manage a full party while moving them and manually inputting in attacks. It is as much a fighting game as turn based RPG. It really turns up the inentisty. One of the things i LOVED was the the entire Castle of Trials that was totally optional. It took me a long time to beat it but it wasn't based on mindless leveling up you have to know how to play. The Queen at the end and the Fully powered end Boss were the most fun. Taking your 4 man level 255 fullmy equipped party and it's still so hard! i LOVE IT! (reminds of of the Emerald Weapon, nice!), the iteam creation, the music, the optional party members, the optional private actions, lol the graphics were kinda lame but you can't expect perfection.
So we have been waiting ages for SO3. I am looking forward to this game. But i NEED it to be the Directers Cut, if there are extra's and i can't play them i will go crazy! it's like Watching Lord of the Rings with out the extended scenes when you know they exist. I know when i get into a game i like to play through casually the first time. Just to enjoy the game. But the second time i want to get every side quest, and every character top notch. I need the extra quests!
To anyone who is thinking about playing FFXI i have played it. The game is incredible! i can't explain how great it is. The only faults, no voice overs, slow gameplay, and the fact i had to quit before i got addicted. It's super addicting, I made the call and saved all other aspects of my free time. After 3 days i already had 40 hours on my file. I had to return it

Ive learned to not get my hopes up about this game because it only breaks my heart. So I am not going to care until the day it comes out because thats the only time when I can be sure it has a release date.
Its like hot prude girl, just a tease.

When I first found out about SO3 in 2002, I became quite infatuated with learning everything about the game. I nostalgically recall dreaming I bought SO3, woke up, and tried looking for it to play it, only to realize that it was just a dream. How whimsical of me. At least now, I can take solace in knowing that "soon", will eventually be "now." Makes me sound kind of crazy doesn't it? What I lack in patience, I make up for in insanity. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
I am pleased to inform you guys that director's cut is indeed replacing the original SO3 when it is released for American consumers. also the reason SO3 was late for the American release was because of DC. See for yourself...although would not get my hopes up to much, for all facts are subject to fallibility.
http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2004/1169.htmlI would indeed love to play the multi-player function. *crosses fingers*
