I hated the characters having voices in FFX, it ruined it for me. In all the FF's before i could imagine the voices which kinda made me feel more a part of the game. If i called Tidus my name (Jay) it wouldnt be the same as if i called Cloud becuase i could imagine his voice
Athrun
The fact that they had voices was to me a good thing.
But I played the Japanese version first, and I have to say that those voice actors by far outshine the English voice actors.
It's a double edged sword.

On one hand it can make you relate to, and emphesise better with the characters in the game.
But if the voices are unfitting or sound bad, it can do the exact oposite.
Midnight Star
I didn't mind them actually. They didn't make or break the story for me though. I enjoyed the change from having to continuously read the characters speeches, it gave my eyes a rest smile.gif .. The one downfall was with X there were much more times they just stopped and spoke for like 10 minutes.. It was a great time to fold my laundry though XD

English Final Fantasy voice actors were horrible. Tidus and Rikku's voice actor/tress annoyed the hell out of me, but it wasn't a bad thing they had voices, just a poor choice in voice actors/tress for a few of the characters to me. I wish they had the option to switch between Japanese and English. They had that option in .hack games, which was one of the only really good features in those games.

Also, not one character ever said the name ''Tidus'' through that entire game. Just in case you didn't notice that.

Voice acting is good, if they pick the right people for the part. I liked Wakka's English voice actor. Didn't like the voice, but it fit Wakka very well, so that's why I liked it.
Wein Cruz
I have to agree with Eva. Tidus and Rikku's voices annoyed me to no end. At many times I was tempted to hit the MUTE button. I couldn't stand them. However, I did like the other voices, though.

Definetly have to agree with you on that switch to japanese voices option. It always better looking in Japanese, and Tara Strong is sort of annoying. All in all, I liked the voices in Final Fantasy X. When it came out I was sort of hoping a remake of FF7 would follow with voices, but with the amazing speed at which Advent Children is appearing, I am beginning to lose hope.
Annorax
i have to admit i did like Wakka's voice, it suited him very well
Ragnarok
Even though the english voices were horrible, they help the characters to express emotion better, so you can understand it. I guess its worth some of the bad voices, as long as you get to know the characters more. That is a main theme of an Rpg, to imagine exactly what the character feels.
BlackRose5286
I didn't mind that it had voices at least, but I still want to play it with the Japanese voices.
Too bad the lips don't sync very well with the voices though sad.gif
Homestar Runner
I deffinatly like the voice acting. I hate having to read and then click on. It can just go and I can relax and concentrate on watching the cut sceen and what not. The FFX voice actors were....alright. There were a few things I liked and didn't like. I though Auron's voice went well and I thought Lulu's voice went well as well. The others just left me a little flat.
BlackRose5286
I agree, a bit.
Auron's voice was nice, and Lulu's.
Wakka's voice was good, but I just didn't like the character.
Tidus was decent, though his stupidity left me flat sometimes, but the actor got the emotions in his voice really well.
Rikku's voice was great (okay, you try reading Al-Bhed sentences then! Ed'c ymnucd esbuccepma!) and Kimahri... I don't know what to think about him.
He speaks like a neanderthal...
"Kimahri has to deal with Ronso problems"
...seriously.

Overall voiceacting was done okay, but you know... I just feel that Japanese voice actors put much more emotion into their work. But that's just a matter of opinion, I guess.

Spoil sports. xp

I thought Tidus's voice *was* indeed pretty annoying, but Rikku's was workable for her age. I mean, she's only 15 you know. :x~!! Can't blame the poor girl for her squeaksome voice. Besides, considering her personality, its pretty fitable.

Voice acting was enoyable though. x3 Brought a loooot more realism into a game, not to mention the pretty-pretty-princess graphics.

Ahaha, and now that I thought about it, Wakka's voice was pretty dumb like a lark. xDD
ValhartX
Voices weren't bad at all. =) I liked them to be honest. Tidus's Battle voice was really cool to me. (When he attacks, and goes "Oh yeah!") I thought that was cool. =D Aurons voice was awesome, too.
The girls voice was nice, but I really like Yuna's. =P Something about it was just nice. <3 No emmy in the voice acting, but it was still a treat..
NeoN
I loved the fact that there were voices. It was something new for a new generation of Final Fantasy. The PlayStation 2 allowed for voices with it's DVD format and Square made full use of it. I know that there are a few out there that like to create their own voices when they play Final Fantasy games and so they felt the sting. The voices in general were good and I do not see how they could get better, I mean I have no idea what you dudes mean when you say that the voices were annoying - maybe the character was suppose to be like that? I remeember Yuffie was a bit of a nuisance but that was by her actions, not her voice. Her voice would show cockiness if she had one, I guess.
BlackRose5286
The voice actress for Yuna really put her feelings into the character.
Yuna was the on the one hand confused, and on the other the I-want-to-make-a-difference personality.
So yeah, I think that turned out ok too happy.gif
Demonwing
It would/ve been a bit better if someone actually said Tidus, its like they never even knew his name, in X-2, Yuna just calls him...well him. At least wakka says his name in KH =p. I enjoyed the voices tho, it was pretty fun to know what they sond like
Annorax
its maybe just because im old fashoned and prefert the old games
DayDreamer
I thought the voice acting wasn't that bad actually. I mean this battle system can get boring so it helps in that area. It beats reading sometimes cause in most games you'll end up reading loads of paragraphs and sometimes you don't even know what the hell there saying blink.gif .
Natsuki
I thought the added voices in the game was a good idea, but as already said by some of you the choice of voice actors wasn't very good.
I'll admit that Tidus's voice was annoying at times, I though Rikku's voice was sweet just like herself very upbeat and girly. I think seymours voice was a bit annoying 'cause it sounded abit feminine but then again it's probably me.

The voices added a little something to the game, it beats reading a whole load of paragraphs and sometimes you don't read it in time so you don't know what their talking about. blink.gif
MercenaryVII
I Mmself have enjoyed the voices from Final Fantasy X and X-2 but you can't ignore how annoying rikkus voice is. I loved Paine voice though. rolleyes.gif
blade_sworn
[COLOR=red] I like them having voices in FFX cause i didnt have to do so much reading laugh.gif

Spiritz
Two words: Laughing scene. Did anyone else want to skip over that part?

I liked the voices. Voices help give charachter to the --well, charachters and helps make them feel alittle more human.

I thought all the voices fit the charachtesr very well, although Tidus's certainly could get annoying in a few of his long speeches.

And it seems the Japanese voice actors always just seem to be better. Its a rare occasion when this is not so.

Like Travis said, it was a WONDERFUL thing not to have to glare at the text the whole time. In previous games, I never got to watch the cut-scene. (Its painful to know this when you're making an RMXP game and you test it and--low and behold! You see none of the carefully choreographed action.)

And no, they never said Tidus's name. And when they do, it helps with pronounciation. Finally, in KH, Wakka calls him 'Teedus.' Go figure.
Boomarang
I liked the voice acting. I couldn't imagine it without it... the characters just seemed more human and stuff. Seymour's voice was annoying for some reason which I found awesome; was easier to dislike him and I think that was the whole point since Tidus hated him too. And he's a bad guy, that helps.
Only problem was the dubbing and lip synching. If the mouths were remodelled like in KH and the actors were able to express their roles properly it would have been 100 times better. Dunno if it would beat the Japanese voice acting though since I can't understand Japanese :S.
Darksin
tidus sounded like a little boy, and rikku sounded like she was on a sugar rudh and wakka sounded like he was so high ya?
Roni
Ugh... I loved the IDEA of voice acting but man...the voices really annoyed me! Well some of them atleast. Tidus sounded like a little kid, Rikku sounded like she was on a constant sugar high. Wakka just sounded like he was high period. Yuna's really annoyed me too, It sounded either she was really depressed all the time and wanting somebody to feel sorry for her or she was faking being happy. Sheez people. It was a good idea but honestly. Get. Better. Voice. Actors.
rpg_freak
well i had a major problem with yuna's voice since she wont stop friggin pause after each word or sentence.. and i also had a problem with rikkus every so annoying voice
Sakura
I loved that they put voice's in the games, Ask Roni my feelings on having to read through the game. I didn't like Yuna's voice at all but that could have something to do with the fact that io don't like her character. Everything else was OK i guess you can't be to picky.

For me:
I like Tidus battle field talk. It make me laugh. My favorite is when he provoke Larva, and I have lightingproof shield so instead of shock him, he burn him. biggrin.gif
His flee call make me laugh also.
But when he said Yuna name before he kiss her. (Turn me on wub.gif )
The voice I can't stand was Wakka, and Yuna. I don't know why but lucky she don't talk much.
I like the voices in the game. I feel the voice fit the characters.

FFX Team: GOOD JOB! wink.gif
Tidyun
I didn't really mind them but I perfferd their japanese vioces.
cadaver
i thought the voice acting in ff10 was actually some of the best voice acting i've heard in a video game. but then again, the only other voice acting games i can think of off the top of my head are xenosaga, disgaea, lunar, and star ocean which are all great games, but none of them have voice acting that is half as good as ff10. so maybe it does still suck, but just seems good by comparison?
DaRkNeO
I was surprised when I heard them speak
I thought whoa this can't be right
but as I progressed in the game the voices became familiar to me
I mostly liked all of their voices, of course they can be annoying sometimes
but they where good, can be done better next time
Omnislash
I did enjoy the voices, it added a new element to the characters and the game, likes of which we hadn't seen before. I thought it was generally well-spoken too, some of them just sounded so kewl... (Auron laugh.gif ). And when you just couldn't be arsed to read, and read, and read... just sit back and enjoy biggrin.gif . I suppsose that kinda destroys what Final Fantasy was, as it was always text-bases reading, but it had the subtitles there so you COULD read, sometimes when i listen to things i don't take it in dry.gif so i read most. Yeah, i liked it, good concept and well-done happy.gif
Worenmaster
Man I thought the voice acting was great. Who could forget how cool Auron sounded? I thought Rikku's voice fitted her pefectly. Wakka gave him a brudda appeal to him (whatever that means ^^wink.gif. I don't know but somthing about the voices just made feel all warm inside (no other Final Fantsy has voices before it) Yea it's good ^^
yuna16
i liked the voices even though rikkus was weird and squeaky but what else can you expect from a powerpuff girl. no but i liked it. it made the game seem more real.
Wein Cruz
I always wondered about this: Why would they let you choose a name for Tidus when the game uses story voice-acting? None of the characters ever said his name.

I think it would have been better overall if they just kept Tidus's name the same like every other character's so that his name could be spoken in the game.
yuna16
wein i agree i think we should be able to put in what ever name we want. it would be cool if the game could recognize the name and pronounce it now that is futuristic. if they werent going to say his name they should have just kept it in the script. ridiculous! mad.gif lol

I personally like the idea of voiceovers - I think it adds a whole new dimension to the gaming experience and opens up so many new possibilities for games as an artistic medium (yes, they are fast becoming a mode of artistic expression, like it or not). As far as FFX goes, however, I can probably count on one hand the number of voice actors I wouldn't have replaced at the top of a hat. Square Enix spends four or five years and millions of dollars developing each Final Fantasy installment - couldn't they at least get a decent voice acting cast? I will say that Auron was pretty cool (he's my favorite character anyway), and as weird as Wakka is, John DiMaggio did a passable job.

As far as the others are concerned, though...don't even get me started. I guess my personal least favorite was Tidus, closely followed by Yuna. The former was just plain annoying, while the latter sounded really weak (totally not in keeping with her character; she's meek, but she's supposed to be the determined sort). Shelinda and Cid and a couple of the other minor characters were actually even more grating, but they didn't have nearly as much screen time, so they didn't cause me too much pain.

Man oh man, I wish we could get the game in Japanese voices with English subtitles here in the States. So they couldn't fit both voice tracks onto one disc - I'd be willing to pay a little extra so they could spread the game out over two DVDs.
Pesmerga
personally I don't mind reading all the stuff, making up my own voices, but these voice overs were pretty cool aswell.
I have to say, a nice surprise indeed, but as I said, I don't mind reading it.
SonicX_Zero
I personally like their voices. I guess its because I'm used to listening to dubs or whatever. Although I did have voices and text at the same time though. x_x;;
Raincoat
To tell you the truth, I didn't like their voices. I really didn't like Yuna's, because it always sounded like she just ran 50 miles (out of breath) I thought Auron's suited him though, and Wakka's, Maybe Lulu's, but the others...
Seluna
Voices are a good addition, that is, if they fit the characters. In FFX's case, I really really don't like some of the voices. Tidus's especially. I frequently find myself asking him to shut up. Yuna's was fine, though a little bland. Rikku... well, no problem with her. Her voice fits her age and I have heard worse voices for chars similar to her. Auron and Lulu's were nice and fitting though, good for the game.

I prefer if there's a switch to Japanese voices feature or something. That will make my FFX-ing much better.
Lady Ice
I didn't mind the voices, though it would be hard to imagine the game without them now. I don't mind reading either, but the thing that annoys me with the voice acting in this game is when someone is supposed to interrupt somebody else, it takes them like 5 seconds to actually interrupt them. And sometimes they speak a little too slowly or too quickly ... the thing about reading is that you can go at your own pace.

But still, I don't really mind. Voice acting is good if it's done well.
tidus_&_yuna_4_eva
yeah the voice acting was pretty good. the one thing i didnt like was yunas voice actress. her voice jsut seemed to practiced. tromells also annoyed me. i think both wakkas and seymours suited them well, although seymour couldve had a huskier, more evil voice.
Shindou
I kinda liked em altho the one annoyance with them was the fact that you could rename Tidus and no one else, therefore there was always this damn blank pause when they talked about him............
Xerno
Ack, yes I hated that too; how they would always come up with alternatives for his name. I guess that was a problem with adding voices. In the past when you renamed a character that wasn't a problem when only written textboxes were used and there was no voice acting yet.

But now it would be better if they just forget about adding an option to rename characters, because now that there's voice acting they'd always have to avoid using that character's name then (like they did with Tidus). And that's just annoying. <<''
Athrun
I didn't like most of the English voices for the game. Tidus and Seymour especially sounded horrible. Tidus was just... no comment. Seymour sounded like he had something stuck in his throat whenever he spoke. Yuna sounded a bit strange at times, like she was high or something, but I liked her voice at least. Just not the way she spoke in FFX for the most part. Auron was good, but pretty much a more toned down version to his Japanese counterpart.
Wakka was original, so I'm not complaining about him. Lulu... I don't even remember her voice any more. I guess that means she left me with a poor impression.

Whenever I replay the game, I put in my original FFX disc. (Japan)
