It is also one of the more easier jobs to learn and handle early on in the game next to being a monk so those that want to get a quick grasp of the game would best pick being a warrior. However do not ever underestimate the functions ofa warrior job in a party. While the job maybe too basic that once players hit level 30, they switch to one of the higher advance jobs to play and never look back at beinga warrior, a warrior function in a party is multi-range that it can serve the party in all sort of functions that most jobs won't be able to do. A warrior can be a main tank, back up tank, main damage dealer, or a secondary damage dealer. How a warrior function in a party depends on the current level stage that the player is at to the sub job the player has on.
Being a main tank is one of the warrior function from the early levels to level 30. A warrior can also be a main tank all the way to pre-level 50 too but at around this stage most parties tend to prefer a paladin or ninja as their main tank in parties. Post level 50, it is still possible for a warrior to be a main tank if they have the right sub job and wearing the right equipment that boost VIT and DEF. However while it's possible to still be a main tank, most parties will look mainly for Paladins and Ninjas for an exp party that for a player, it's not worth it to try and be a main tanker. You invites will be very slow to none if your goal is to be the main tank post 50 unless you are with friends or in a static party that accept you as a main tanker.
Being a secondary tank start at level 1 all the way to end game. With the ability to Provode, it's not a big surprise. Secondary tanking comes more into play post level 30 and it pretty much becomes a duty post 50 where the Paladins and Ninjas have establish themselves as the game main tankers. At this point you might want to balance your equipment out evenly so you can do adequate damage as well as do some back up tanking.
Being the main damage dealer or secondary damage dealer in the game can begin at level 1 all the way to end game. Give a warrior a great axe or axe and have them equip themselves with all out DD gears and watch the enormous hate that a warrior can get simply by dealing massive damage in a leveling party. You probably won't notice the effectiveness of an all out DD warrior until post 50 where players that are still sticking it out as a warrior decides to focus exclusively on dealing damage in a party than being a tank or back up tank.
For a warrior, the primary weapon of choice is Great Axe. The secondary weapon of choice is Axe. Either will do really since a warrior have Rank A proficiencies on both on them in their abilities to handle such weapons.
Sub Job Combos
War/Mnk: This is probably the idea job and sub job combo early on in the game till level 30. With a monk as a sub job you get the added boost in HP and VIT that will help you be a main or secondary tank early on. And of course with the added counter trait and boost ability from monk, you can do yourself some added extra damage to boot. Post 30 you can still sub monk however at this point there are two other jobs that will probably help your role as DD or back up tank more than usinga monk as a sub job post 30.
War/Thf: At post 30, you'll be looking to fill the role as DD in a leveling party. What better sub job for a warrior than a thief. Evasion and agility bonusesfrom thief as a sub. You also have treasure hunter too to help your party get more drops from mobs that you kill. But in all honesty post 30 subbing thief is all about Sneak Attack and Trick Attack. Those two abilities from thief as sub will allow you to deal some massive damage with your Weapon Skills. At level 60+, subbing thiefis almost a must for warriors that want to go all out damage.
War/Nin: Next to subbing thief post level 30, subbing ninja is the next best thing for warriors. While you may not be able to do as much damage when subbingninja as compare to subbing thief, you do have a few things that will help make up for the loss of having more damage with a thief as a sub. First, when subbing ninja you gain the ability to dual wield. Nothing is more scarier than having a warrior equip with two axes and building up fast TP for WS (weapon skill) usage. Fast TP means more WS for fights which in terms means more damage on the mobs for the party. The second great thing about subbing ninja is you now have the ability to blink tank. While your blink tank won't be as good as someone that's using Ninja as a main job, it does serve an excellent function for being a secondary tank. With provoke and blink, you can save your main tank from death if he/she is in trouble or if your main tank is down and out, you can be the only thing that will save your party from a total wipe out. In fact, War/Nin combo is the perfect balance between secondary damage dealer and secondary tank.

Not sure where that was going really, but I've gotta say WAR is a job that I had a blast playing. I took it to 30 to get my DRG but once DRG hit 32 or so I had to go back. WAR (at least up until I quit the game) was a very viable damage dealer, and great for soloing various NMs. Both offensive and defensive skills to boot. I did quit about 8-10 months ago though, maybe they've been nerfed since...

Edit: oops, posted this when the OP was only traits
