Well I'm sure some of you have noticed this before, in the Breath of Fire series there (well at least in the first three mainly) has always been somthing do with god or religion. In BoF the final boss was a Goddess. In BoF 2 you go against an entire religion and end up killing the founder of it (I think thats right....been a while). Then in BoF 3 you again treck far and wide to get to a goddess and end up killing her. And even in BoF 4 Fou-lu predicted his own resurrection, now correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't Jesus do the same thing? And then you kill him (Fou-lu >.>). So I wonder why did Capcom make a series that seemed to almost always be revolving around religion or somthing to do with religion or gods?

Ya know... I never thought of that. Really. That makes one think. Back then when I played the games, I never cared too much for that stuff. It was jus' there. And as much to do with god and religion.. Breath of Fire 2 really did it with the series.
But yeah. Breath of Fire 5 ended that trend. I think Capcom wanted to show the series was mature in a way. Thinkin' about it.. It was a mature series way back in 93, yet people ignored it. In Breath of Fire 3, since RPG's were up there. They gave it another go. Did well.

Wanted to make it seem more mature? Hmm that dosen't seem to far out there, seeing how many mature games capcom has made...

I wonder though if maybe Capcom was maybe attacking Christianity, and I know full and well that there are christian Japs, but maybe the game was directe or created by some one who didn't like christianity. *shrugs* I don't know but seeing how closly the way Fou-Lu predicted his resurrection as Jesus did it dosen't seem to unlikly......or maybe it does...

That's a good question, but as far as I'm concerned, including a God/Goddess and religion in an RPG story is always a plus for me. I need to get BoF4, because the whole thing with Fou-Lou I've heard about seems really interesting.

Once again, an old one.

I'm a christian here (Catholic), and I didn't personally feel attacked, but I see how the first four did appear a little negative in terms of religion.
As for the god thing in BoF4, I saw Fou-Lu, Ryu, the Endless, etc. more as a superman situation: the person is summoned to that world with powers they would never have in their own world.

As for Fou-Lu predicting his resurrection, Fou knew he wasn't going to die from old age...atleast not for a few ages...and simply used the beliefs of the people who adored him to spread a legend of resurrection. No Jesus thing.
