Something I loved back in FF8 and 9. The card games. =p I loved both games, and I'd play those more than the main game itself sometimes. Makes me wish they'd bring the card game thing back in the future games. Not sure which I liked better, though. Maybe 8's. There were just some things in 9's that had me confused at some points.
But what about you all? Which of these card games did you enjoy playing more? Triple Triad (FF8's) or Tetra Master (FF9's)?

The card game was a ton of fun. I played the Triple Triad, the Final Fantasy VIII one, for hours. That was one of my set goals when replaying it and I achieved it. I loved the animation on the cards and the music did not get boring even as I listened to it for hours at a time. I am sad to type that I did not get to play Tetra Master, the Final Fantasy IX one, that much since I borrowed the game and had to give it back pronto. I felt that I rushed the experiance. I have to play it again and this time really enjoy it to the fullest.

I played tetra a lot, really funny, although it can be confusing.
Didn't played triple triad at all, dunno just didn't wanted to play that mini game, while I was spending my hours collecting Magic...although it seems fun

Simply, Triple Triad. It's quite fun and the points are designated, if I recall, the cards in FFVIII have a meaning, for fun and to be converted into items, I don't think the cards in FFIX can be converted into items from what I recall. Come to think of it FFIX's card system is slightly messy, so I'm sticking with FFVIII for this one. More fun, more meaning and much easier to play.

They both had their ups and downs. Triple Triad had some pretty fvcked up rules at some stage that could make you lose hardcore =\ but tetramaster wasn't as fun as triple triad.

Tetra felt more simple than Triple Triad. Although the rules were kinda hard to follow on both of them. I remember one of my friends coming over just to play Tetra Master. I never really got in to Triple Triad, I was a more of a Tetra Master guy.

I really didn't have that much fun with either of them. The computer always seemed to have the edge and you always end up losing your cards. It was quite the limited game too, but it was only a mini-game.

T etramaster, since the rules made a bit more sense. I eventually got the hang of Triple Triad, but by then, I'd lost all my good cards.

Much love for Triple Triad. <333 Though the rules were a bit irking at times, the rules were a lot more understandbable and the game was easier to play. My biggest obsession was collecting the character cards, until I ran into Edea and she had a "Random" rule. D: Horrific.
I never understood Tetramaster. x_X Everytime I tried to play it, I'd mess up big time.

I liked Tetra Master, myself. I really didn't get into the card game for FF8 to really enjoy it, but I was addicted to Tetra Master around the beginning of FF9. I didn't play it much toward the latter part of the game, though.

I spent a lot of time playing Triple Triad (FF8), and getting all the cards.
I love that game, and I made sure never to spread the rules, as it's much more enjoyable that way for me.
It was a great mini game, and made it seem as if the world of FF8 was a bit more social than normal, where almost everyone was playing the game.
Winning rare cards was fun too.
I did't like the card game in FF9 much, because it was a bit random and messy with the arrows.
But I played it anyway.

Thank you for reminding me. That is the reason that I started playing Triple Triad in the first place. I was going to get the Laguna card and convert it into a 100 Hero's to be able to defeat Omega - one of my set goals which is still incomplete. To get the Laguna card I knew that I had to have a strong deck and so I started playing the card game from the beginning.

I too really liked that feeling of the game. It was a first for me and I enjoyed it to the fullest.

my favorite card game was the one from ff9. it just seemed easyier to learn and play. plus, thats the one that i got all the cards in.
i know ffX-2 had a card game too, but i don't know anyone that even bothered with that one.

JD, your question to me doesn't need an answer. Triple triad will surely win my vote. lol (Juz me)
I like to see all monsters and characters we met being made as cards.
The thing I don't like from Tetra master, is the limited cards you can hold. 100, it sickens me to no end.

9's Tetra Master was easier to play. i always got thrashed when i tried to play 8's Triad game because i never had any useful or powerful cards- that i never understood the rules. i just ended up using whomever's card mod ability to get teh useful items.

I did like both and played them a lot, but each had some frustrating moments.
Triple Triad was really addicting, but once you started doing combos and using the rules like Random, Same, Plus, etc, the opponent got to screw you over on the last move whe you thought you won. Then they took your best cards and never used them again. Never had to restart 'cause of bosses, but the card agem made me. Still, the character card artwork was cool
Tetra Master was fun because the arrows gave it a level of difficutly, and made the cards different, even if they were the saem type. Still, it seems weird to be playing a game with a Broadsword card, but I enjoyed the system (though the battles between cards always seemed random to me).
I just liked Tetra better, though.

Oops I voted for the third option. ;-; Actually I didn't want to vote the third option, what I want to say I like both. x_x;;
Anyway both had their ups and downs, Triple Triad was simple and fun, and the rules didn't bother me much to be annoyed by it.
While Tetra Master was more challenging and even a bit difficult to understand at the start, but when I got the hang of it... it was really fun, the arrow made things more interesting. ^^;;

Tetra Master man myself. I enjoy Triple triad. But i was deffinatly more involed in Tetra. Tetra...for me was more fun than triple triad. In triple triad they had all those effects that built up through the game that screwed me over.

i enjoyed Tetra Master nearly as much they are both enjoyable games,
i intend (once i have a disent printer) to print off the cards and play with my friends unless anyone knows were to aquire the actual sets?
i find Triple Triad slighly better because it is more simple and so can be played when drunk wear as you need some sense still there to play Tetra Master

Triple Triad, because you didn't lose for random reasons

I loved both these games but to me the best was the triple triad game where depending upon where in the world you were the rules changed and so you never knew until you asked them what rules you would be playing with that added to the fun, so my decision both were fun but triple triad was better IMO

i am obsessed with the ff8 one, ive got every rare card possible at the stage of the game where im at, i collect, and also get heaps of rare items from the cards i have doubles of, i never lose unless its got the stupid random rule, so i hafta save before each card battle then

Triple Triad is far better without a doubt. I remember I used to spend hours and hours and sometimes even the whole day just running around playing that mini-game and collecting the cards. I didn't like Tetra master at all. I don't like how when you place a card with an arrow pointed in the direction with a card that also has an arrow pointed in your cards direction, you'll get into some sort of battle where the number seems to be random. That makes the game more on luck than skills. The only thing that I like about Tetra more than Triad is that the game keeps track of your losing and winning records. Other than that, Triple Triad is better in every way.

Wow......this is an old topic. It must've been quite a few pages back.
I voted for Tetra Master but they both have flaws. Triple Triad was definately the more exciting. It had more monsters (almost every single enemy, GF & character I believe) and the elemental squares really made things interesting. However, Triple Triad was to random. You couldn't plan strategy like you can with Tetra Master, so to much of the game depended on luck. The arrows in IX really helped. I also prefered the larger grid, which was, of course, needed to even attempt the arrow idea.
So yeah. They were both good but overall I had to go with Tetra Master because it had more control, therefore requiring more strategy. I couldn't play either for to long though, it would just lose it's fun.

I think that both games had there strong points, but Tetra Master was just too deep for me ;-.- . I mean not only was I scarred for the remainder of the game after playing that alleyway jack man, but once I figured out how to play it, I actually understood how complicated and deep it really was... which is too much for me.
I like Triple Triad because its set like a REAL card game i.e a Blobra card cannot beat a Squall card no matter how many times you played it.

if u decline the option to play with the new rule i.e random then they won't offer it again and it wont spread to the region just a little hint i discovered.

I didnt like either. I never completely understood wtf was up with Triple Triad and Tetra Master was kinda boring but at least you could understand it easily. I think i tried out Triple Triad twice tops, then just said screw this.

Triple Triad was far better than Tertra master . a draw back of Tetra is that you can only hold i think 100 cards total. In FF8 i loved the character and GF cards my favorite was the Laguna card

Tetra Master. Triple Triad was completely annoying. The regional rules concept was moronic. And I liked the cards more in TM, anyway.
