QUOTE (Pro)
(1) If a third of six is three, what would half of twenty be?

That'd be 2

This is because when you divide by 3 you get 3 parts and when you divide by 2 you get 2 parts.

QUOTE (Pro)
(3) My parents have 5 children, but half are boys. How?

It says 'My' parents so this person probably didn't include him/herself. Therefore there are actually 6 children. 6/2 = 3

(5) Another one of my great magic tricks is that I can hang up my hat, turn around and walk 50 meters away then turn around and shoot a hole right through my hat while blindfolded the entire time. Can you tell me how?

Your next to the wall? So all you got to do is hang up the hat 'next' to this wall and follow the straight wall 50 meters (50 large steps). Then turn around exactly 180 degree's (this should be easy because your next to the wall!) and shoot!

(6) Every halloween I carve a pumpkin and put it in my window.  I went to the farm down the street to get a pumpkin.  If a pumpkin is $4.50 a pound and the pumpkin I bought was 3/4 of a pound plus 3/4 of the pumpkin then would I have enough money if I only had $15?

*

You would, as 3/4 of $4.5 is $3.something, then add 3/4 of that, which is less than $1, so it would be way less than $15. Either that or I'm missing something major, that seemed simple.

(7) When I was 6 I hammered a nail into the tree in front of my house.   The other day I went back to look for the nail again.  If I'm 16 now and the tree grew 5 inches every year then how much higher should the nail be?

*

The nail wouldn't be any higher, trees gain more height at their top, they don't stretch.

Yes...because you already bought it. If you didn't have enough, you could not have purchased it.

(2) There are six ears of corn in a hollow stump. If a healthy squirrel can carry only three ears out each day, how many days will it take for the squirrel to empty the stump?

One day. Because the time from the first time it takes out the first three to the time to take out the following three would take one day.

Remember Kewne, I need an explanation not just the right answer.

Kewne gets 3, and Groove gets 6 and 7.

(1) If a third of six is three, what would half of twenty be?

1/3 = half of the number in this sentence.
To get half from a third you have to take the number 1,5 times. So 1/3 of 20 is 10(here) and 10x1,5=15. That's how I thought.

(6) As you all very well know I am an excellent magician. I weigh 78 kilograms myself and I was carrying 3 pieces of gold that wiegh 1 kilogram each. I came to a bridhe that could hold a maximum of 80 kilograms yet I walked right over it without it breaking. How?

He juggled them so that he had at least one in air all the time.

7) They were the same person. Grover Cleveland is to this day the only president elected to non-consecutive terms in office.

(2) I am 36 and a half inches tall, plus half my own height. How tall am I?

73 inches. 36 and a half inch is half the height.

(4) On my vacation I visited a tropical island. On the island the visitors always told the truth and the natives always lied. I was walking along the beach and two women approached me. They introduced themselves as Josie and Cricket. Cricket told me "I am a native, but Josie is a visitor." Where are the two ladies from?

They are both natives. If Cricket was a native, Josie wouldn't be a visitor, because then Cricket would be telling the truth, which is wrong, because natives always lie. Cricket wouldn't be a visitor as well as that'd mean that she lied, and visitors always told the truth. Therefore, they would have to be both natives to make Cricket's statement valid.

It would be outside, on your back. When you turn it inside out, the tag would simply switch to the front rather than the back, then by switching arms, it turns the tag back to the back.

2) 54 and 3/4 inches tall. (Half of 36 and and half inches is 18 and a 1/4 inches. So 36 and 1/2 inches plus 18 and a 1/4 inches = 54 and 3/4 inches tall)

3) My guesses would be either that his hat is hanging on his gun, or on his head.

(4)

Wrong. In order for that to work, Cricket has to lie about herself too. But Cricket is telling the truth about herself. Problem is, that if Cricket were a native, she'd have to lie about herself. Which rules that out. She can't either be telling the truth, since she's saying she's a native, and visitors never lie.

The correct answer is that Josie is a native, and Cricket is a visitor. Since Josie has lied about her name being Cricket to begin with. After that, she said to "you", "I am a native, but Josie is a visitor". She was then also referring to herself there as Josie, and lying, since she lied about being Cricket.

To put it simply: Being a native, she (Josie) switched their names. Josie being Cricket, and Cricket being Josie. Josie then said (as Cricket) that Cricket was a native, and Josie was a visitor. She was actually referring to herself and the real Cricket there. Since she's a native, she can lie about Cricket being a native, and also lie that Josie is a visitor.
