It's like this, I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy Series and I wanted to know, what is your favorite FF game, and reasons you like it?

Hmm, my favorite would have to be Final Fantasy 6. In my opinion it had the best storyline, the best characters, and a very evil villian. The storyline just kept me into the game throughout the game, and the characters had awesome persoanalities. Kefka did so many evil things, and had that weird laugh. =p

Best story and characters where imo IX, Zidane was just the funny guy and he was almost the same as Locke which had a great personality aswell.
I like the music in IX a lot, it had great music and nice moments, some of them really touching.
FF IX's is just my favourite, followed by a close VIII and then X.

Final fantasy 6. It was the first one that i beat. plus the charecters were all so unique. The game went into the world to explain most of the charecters backrounds and personaliies. The esper system was just so freaking addictive. FF6 was probly the final fantasy that made leveling most enjoyable for em. It a great feeling to be able to keep the magic you learn unliek the materia system. ff6 charecters also had thier own unique stule of play even though they all could do magic. this makes it stand otu from every other final fantasy. Lasty the music is just awsome.

id prob say its ff vii too. tis amazin
Would you mind explaining why?
I think that Final Fantasy 6 had the best storyline. It really kept me interested in the plot and what was going on with the characters. I was really attracted to the story and found Kefka to be really evil. Many many more reasons.

I'll have to go with FFT, I really liked the whole idea about the Lion War and about the people pulling strings from behind and also your best friend is just using you for his own goals. Also to include the whole fake saint thing and the power of the zodiac stones was also a good addition to the story of its what I thought was a poilitcally driven matter. ^^;;

Alright...this is the last topic for a while in which I'll allow basic questions like "Favorite Final Fantasy" or "Favorite Final Fantasy story". They're getting a bit over-done, and we have enough existing topics like them accross the first few pages, which you're free to post in.
And as for my favorite story, I'll go with FF8. Very deep plot, with the whole Ultimecia and time compression thing. Great interactions and developments between characters as the game progressed as well. Also, a great love story integrated in the mix, which added to the over-all feel of everything going on, and led to other ideas about the story and it's ending, which I won't get into now. >_o
And Final Fantasist, I'm merging your topics since they were nearly identical in what they were asking.

Truly, I liked all of them, and don't want to pick a favorite, but FF 6 and 8 tie kind of.
FF 6 was the first I played. I played it as FF III on SNES (without the ungodly loading time). I just got sucked into the story and music, and still play it when I can.
FF 8 was the same. Though the loading time was bad, the music was sweet. Plus, the graphics were very different than FF 7. I remember watching the first battle (this was before PS2), and just being in awe. Anyway, the story was pretty good, though Ultimecia was random, she fit. And whoever thought of the Rinoa/Ultimecia theory is crazy.

FF6 was the first FF game I ever played and FF8 was the first FF I finished.
So I like them even for that, they were _first...
and also I like the pot and the characters in both of them. and FF8 was beautiful. yeah.. *_* I played it 5 times ^^ and I don't usually replay the game after I finish it.
as for FF7, I started playing it recently. I wanted to play it only because Sephiroth is there ^^; and I've told many times already why I like Sephiroth.
as for the gameplay and such - it was good. Interesting... ©

Well, there r ofcourse a large number of final fantasy games, wether its on the gba, or any PS system, to me, ff7, 8, and X had the deepest of all the ff storylines, but ffX, that was a beautifly crafted game, the storyline a little bit odd, but cool, ff7, that jus blows any other ff away, im sure u all agree with me, 8 was another gr8 game, now to me X was my fav, wats urs and plz tell me y

Game: Final Fantasy Tactics. I have multiple reasons. Some are so simple too. Like, it is all strategy. Duh. The story was entertaining and the ending wasn't all that bad. Wasn't anything to do with genetically made people either like 7 and 9.

Character/s: Zell, Wakka, Sephiroth. The booyah guys and one guys who just pwns.

I'm going to say Final Fatasy VIII, because it was an overall great story. Very good charater interactions and I loved the music. I also like the love story, i'm usually not one for romance but i just liked how it tied togther. if that makes any sense to you. I also like Final Fantasy X, mostly for Rikku, but the story line was good as well.

Am I the only one who loves FFx-2? Its the best game ever.I love yuna and lenne and its a great story line and I still love the song too. 1000 words,Real Emotion, and alot of other I cant remember. FFx-2, C'mon peoples. It was the first sequel in the final Fantasy series.

I love 1000 words and Real Emotion I know them both in Enlglish and Japanese. I'll amit FF x-2 had some great music, and I do love Yuna. FF X-2 was okay, but the story was some what diffcult and the way they took away the Aeons I didn't wanna play FF x-2. But when I played it was okay..but still my fav is FF 7

ahwell
I go for FF IX, it was my very first FF, I liked the character's personalities, the story appealed a lot, it had imo great music, prolly one of the best OSTs from all the FF and it was really easy to play, no special tactics needed.
Just a game you could easily start and finish, yeah this game is still my fav.

For me FFX.The story is stuning. The voice acting fits the characters and the story builds well as you progress through the game. The battle system of this game is the most useful of the entire series.Being able to see who was next and how your decision affects your turn makes tough battles quite entertaining. The ability to switch between characters mid-battle makes this game have the best battle system hands down.the game has probably one of the best male characters ever,Auron. This guy is completely tough, serious, intelligent and a man of his word. He has given up a lot to do the right thing and is a powerhouse when he first joins your party. He doesn't waste words, never sugar coating and only speaking when necessary.character relationships unfold in a way that has never really been possible in any previous Final Fantasy, due to the character voices, this is one of the most entertaining RPGs that has ever been released.it has only one flaw,it is linear.

Hmmm, déjà vu (I feel like I've answered this before ^^ ). Anyway, I'll start by excluding the ones that are definitely not on my list of likeable FF games.
I don't really know the FF Legend games. I think I've tried the first one once, but I stopped playing it, I didn't like it.
If by FF Adventure you mean the SNES game that in Europe is known as Mystique Quest (NOT the Seiken Densetsu game for Game Boy), then that one isn't on my list either. I actually did like it, but the story was nothing too special (I did like the final boss, a demonic spider-ish thingie in human disguise? Brrr... creepy O_o ).
I've never played Crystal Chronicles, and I don't plan to do so either ^^ .
I
hate FF Tactics, one of the few types of gameplay that can really ruin even a brilliant story for me, is tactics based gameplay (I really dislike gameplay like that). I did finish the game, though... and Delita is now the one FF character I truly hate with a passion

.
I don't like online games, so I didn't play FFXI either. And the FFI-V games are not my kind of thing either.
So that leaves me with FFVI-X(-2). And from these ones, FFVIII is my absolute favorite. Not because of the romance, though. It's because of the lovely sci-fi setting, the Sorceresses and the concept of SeeD. The love story was just "there" for me, I never pay much attention to those anyway =D .

My favourite is without a doubt FF8 ... as soon as I saw the opening FMV, I was sure that I was going to love this game. And I was right ... the gameplay, the graphics, the music, the characters, and of course, the storyline! I think the plot is deep and intriguing ... and Rinoa and Squall were just so lovely, along with the rest of the cast. Eyes on Me was a wonderful song, along with a heap of others. I can go on for ages and ages about how much I love FF8 ... but I guess I shouldn't lol. I love it so much that I have so much FF8 merch ... yes, I am one of ~those~ people xD

I love most of the FF games...but the classic ones were just...not me. I'll leave my opinion on some.
7 was awsome for the story line. The awsome characters...they all were just so cool. Cloud was a badass...and I love badasses. Yes, sephiroth was the true one.
For my favorite, I go with FF8. I loved it...and I have all cards in the game. All you get is a star on the menu next to cards...kinda gay. And the thing with 8 is the whole 4th disk BS...you can't enter the old cities and what not...That sucked! I loved the junction system and GF abilities the most. You already know I must love the card games to get all the cards.
FF9...just wasn't me either. I love cool looking characters and ff9 didn't have many. I didn't find the battle system cool nor the trance BS. I acutely thought Kuja was a hot chick..till it said "HE." I was pissed. But The ending was awesome in FF9.
FF10...man! Blitzball was so f0ck!ng cool! I have over 200 hour on it...thanx to blitzball. Ject shot 2 over and over again...never gets old and never misses. I didn't find 10's story line all that...because it made Yuna the only summoner. The weapons, the overdrive system, the equipment system and grid system kicked ass. The starting of the awesome FF graphic.
X-2...TOO MUCH CHEESE! All these stupid girlie things they do...I hated those things. The cut scenes, jobs and battle systems were hot. The storyline was retarded to me. AND GETTING 100% for an ENDING that wasn't even all that. I acutely thought I'll unlock Tidus to play with!!!!!!! MAN!!!
FF12...looks amazing.

After playing ff8 and reading the ultimecias 'sekret' article. I hav to say that ff8 is pretty good. I belive that it is the only version of final fantasy that has a slight twist in the story. This game allows the payer to have a wider scope of the game.Personally......when i read that rinoa is ultimecia herself,I was stunned. I mean.......how can the heoine of the story be the villian as well? :whoa:

i'm always torn between all the final fantasy games really, but i think i have finally decided on my favorite. my favorite would have to be IX just because it was the first FF game i had ever played and the stroy just sucked me in. it was the FF game that made me want to play and experience the rest. the characters were really balanced and had some humor. the story was just magnificent (like all the other FF games) and the final boss, although he seemed to me like a flaming homo, was a well thought out character and i had always thought kuja was my favorite boss to fight. (not because he was easy either...) but if i had to give second place away it would go to tactics. tactics stroy to me was the best out of all the FF games, but i would have rather had played IX over it just because i felt gameplay was a little too slow for me on tactics. i just like the fighting style of IX, but other than that tactics is the best as well.

I agree, FF8 is a game that makes you think a lot for yourself. Just like they only hint that Laguna is Squall's father and you have to fit in bits and pieces for yourself, they also leave you with some extreme resemblances and connections between Rinoa and Ultimecia. The witch whom none of us knew where she came from and why she did what she did.
The answer may be in the game, but Square only points us in that direction, and never confirmed anything. And I think that's pretty interesting as well.
The only other rpg that had a story more complex to top FF8 that I played was Xenosaga.
But for the FF games, FF8 was my favorite followed by FF7 and X.

My favourite would have to be FFT. I loved the battle style. The normal Hack and slash RPG Battle style kinda gets repetitive.. And with a good story line, like all Final Fantasy games, it has to be good. Also the variety of characters in which you can choose is amazing. All the hidden characters, all the hidden items, and equipment made is even better. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced was a good game also.. Just too kiddish, and too colourful.
A close second, would have to be Final Fantasy Seven. Everyone loves that game.. I mean is there an RPG lover out there who HASN'T played Final Fantasy Seven? If so.. Go out and get it. Now. Final Fantasy Seven, in my mind was a masterpiece of the time, and still should be recognized, for all the hard work "Squaresoft" did. Yes. Soft. Not Enix.

Why isn't there a 'Can't Decide!' option!?
Coz guess what? I need it!!
But just so this isn't classed as 'waste of forum space'...its between VII, VIII & IX probably (IX for story and characters and stuff coz there wasn't enough battle stuff to keep you busy! The Independant character techniques was better though, why'd they have to bring back customization on X...?

Final Fantasy Tactics wins the spot for me. Definitely. It's one of the only RPGs I've played through over 3 times in one year. =P Since it was the first Strategy RPG I've played through, I was amazed at the style of the gameplay and the war-and-betrayal story theme. It was one of the few games that I couldn't believe was over when I finished it.
So yeah, FFTactics is my favorite FF game (followed by a close FF6), and is one of my favorite RPGs overall.

I totally dug FFix. Px I've always liked the character design and the battle system as well as the general gameplay. Last FF game to actually have one of them explore-the-world things going on. ;-; FFx and FFx-2 didn't have that option and that is WAY depressing.

From the very beginning, Final Fantasy VI has shined as my all-time favorite. What I love about this story, is the fact that the villian DOES succeed in his plot. He does destroy the world as we know it, or rather, as they knew it. Kefka was not a "sex-monger" like Sephiroth was, don't get me wrong, Kefka is the most repulsive looking thing next to Scarmiligon. However, his passion was devoted to just destroying all existence. He didn't want to become a king, a god, or anything. At the end, all he wants is to anhilate everything, himself included. Other then that, the game had a beautiful cast of characters, who had pasts to be explored.
What I also give credit to Square-E for back then, is they had a character attempt suicide. In the early 90's? This was a time where the people in the game couldn't say 'DIE'. I don't know how this passed through, but it did. The character designs themselves were something I found charming. From a moogle, to a yeti, to a wild-boy, a king, a martial artist, a ninja, and so many more, they almost made it to fit any character you wanted. The music held me to the game and I found everything to be practically perfect.
===
Final Fantasy IX is my second coming. It runs by close enough to touch VI, but barely making the mark. This game was always on my mind when I first got it. I was hooked from the start, just like most all. The characters were different, the story, amazing. The thing I enjoyed most was the oddity of Quina Quen and the marriage scene between him/her and little Vivi. I also loved the alternative look for the characters they used.
