Here are all of the weapons that I can think of from the Final Fantasy Series (although I'm pretty sure not all of them will be ticked but if I don't put them people complain.)

I personally like the more original weapons to ones such as swords or whatever but overall I love Gloves and claws just because it involves close contact (personal) and it needs strength and technique.

By the way... sorry if this has been done hundred times before.

Swords, I have always been a fan of them in all RPGs. I think they are quite fun especially in the FFT system xD In order to use the Swordsmanship techniques(very powerful moves) you have to use swords =o I kinda love the dual swords though, Ninjas can equip two, make quite a strong unit xD I always prefer swords among all weapons xD

Hmm I like guns, swords and spears, but in the Final Fantasy franchise I'd go for swords, for some reason I like them the most.

I've always been a fan of mages, a huge fan, so i pick puppets, or some kind of wand or staff

i like swords. mainly because ever since they put the limit breaks in the ff games the guys with the swords always had the coolest limits, or overdrives.

i think tht rods/staffs r the best coz ive always been a huge fan of magic in FF. and the best mage has 2 b vivi frm FFIX coz hes so kl.

I am curious why so many RPG's (in paticular more modern RPGs) have swords at all but for the main characters? I guess FF8 DID compensate by creating the gun-blade and clouds sword WAS really big... then again I guess we don't play final fantasy for it's realisim (except the graphics).

I also like swords.. They do some horribe damage once you get in to the game. Plus they have some pretty cool desgins except for the nail bat in ff 7. Also I do like Squal's gunblade as well. I don't know why I just do.

Well, I went with swords. Especially considering there's a huge variety of different types of swords, most of which I've liked to some extent. My favorite type of sword in the series so far has been Squall's gunblade. It was a nice change from the usual swords I was used to. A nice design, and pretty original. The 'trigger' option was also pretty cool, basically making it seem like you'd get a slash and a gun-shot in at once. Definitely a nice weapon.

It would have been "much," simpler just to ask us to state the weapon and why, than make a poll of which I'm sure the vast majority won't be able to relate too.
As for my response, I'm on a par with lances and swords. Swords, of course, I am compelled to like due to them being a classic weapon, but of course, I've always been more of a fan of lances due to the nature of their wielder(Dragoons).

Axes, but I guess those fit in the Sword category, though most of the time Axes do more damage than swords.

i have no particula fav, it all dipends on my mood when im playing
one day i will like to hack and slash and so cose swords
the next i may wish to blast them to high hevens with magic or shout them to peaces
as long as it works well and can kill things im happy ^-^

My favourite weapon will always be the sword no matter whati just like them so much that, that is what i would always pick most probably because I love sword fights and using swords my self.

I dont know...If I was in a Battle I would think What would i feel Comfortable With? A sword Of course its the Safest bet people would choose.

Though Swords is such the more typical answer, and I have to admit is better at getting the job done...I do have a soft spot for Spears. xDD They're just a bit off from the normal cliche, and I think they look noicer. <333 Its just...they dont get the job done as quickly or smoothly as a sword would. x_X

u know i really do think any mage or priestess or watever has an advantage over any battle with like rod, staffs etc. becuz, the swords only rely on brute force, unlike mage weapons that can be used as a weapon for say lowerin defense n attack, then once they weaken the enemy really good they can take the rod n giv a really good bash on the head

Well, I've grown extremely tired of swords in RPGs. Even though it's often a powerful weapon, it's such an over-used weapon that I'd rather see something else. This being... guns =P ! I always find it interesting to see how they handle guns in RPGs (turn-based or action ones). And in that regard I'm really looking forward to Dirge of Cerberus ^^ .

next cool weapon to me would be scythe,probably one of the most cool weapons for a bad guy,but i also looked well on wein cruz in growlanser II

I can see why Square's main character normally uses swords so much because it still seems to be very popular.

What confuses me with guns is how your strength affects how much damage a bullet does.

I've always loved swords and forever will. But I'm more into the exotic types like Katanas rather than the traditional ones you'd find. I'm also into mages too. So I I prefer a sword wielding mage. I never did like guns, though. I find them to be pretty boring weapons.

gunblades for me, then you can actually have a critical hit, as u swing the blade, you pull the trigger, probably kill a real person

Gunblades are my favorite weapon..even though I don't exactly get how it works cause I can't ever see where the bullet comes out....but I prolly need glasses ^-^ Still the most unique weapon I think :)

I would have to say that Zidane's butterfly sword was the coolest type of weapon in a FF game. I went at least 3/4 of the game using it (instead of the daggers). They were a lot stronger, although the moves you learned weren't quite as good.

That was the reason that got I hooked into swords. I saw Cloud's Omnislash and was blown away. Then there was Squall's Lionheart which matched what I was expecting of a final Limit from him.



I love the Square-Enix make their swords look diffirent from eachother. There are some neat looking designs. My fav sword is the Masamune wielded by Sephiroth. Second is the Brotherhood, Tidus' sword given to him by Wakka. It looks so cool though many dismiss it.

I've always been a fan of swords in the RPG's and the guns are an ok weapon but, i think it would be better without guns in FF. Anyway I think the Lionheart, Gunblade from FFVIII is the best weapon ever.

Biiiiiiiig Love for the Sword. I've always loved swords so I'm kinda biosed. Like someone else said, the get the job done. Plus, Squall's gunblade was a lovely addition to the weapon type. Hmmm, but if I had to pick something else...probably whips and gloves (gotta love the hand to hand)

I am going to have to go with the spear. I like spears because you can do all kinds of moves with it. It is realy useful when you have to fight about 10 to 20 people.

I think spear's are fscking ILL, like watching Albert from LoD use the Halberd, and all the nasty stuff u can do with it, i dunno I'm just in love with the Spear. It looks awesome too, and its just a staff with a metal point lol

Swords and guns ... they are both cool-looking and get the job done. Gunblades are twice as cool-looking and versatile =p I think a character's weapon kind of reveals a little something about its beholder as well ... but that's just me. I mean, you can't really picture Squall or Cloud with a rod or fork or blitzball. But what I REALLY hated was Yuna with a gun...

Swords for me, always liked them always will. I don't know why i like them, but they have always attracted me in some sence, maybe it's cause my grandfather has a sword collection from his youth days, and when i was young, and still now, i polish them from now and then, and guns comes to a close second, but this time it's cause of my uncle's gun collection, same reason, i polish and clean them once in awhile.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww How come we can only pick one? Well if I had to pick just one I would have to pick the sword, BUT it would have to be twin swords kinda like the ones Rikku uses on her main dressphere on FFX-2. Why do I like the swords? Hmmmmmmm. Well Through out all the FF games there have been some compeletly ............... what word to use.......... should I use Killer, Awesome, Deadly, well you guys get the idea right? Moves using swords. Well anyway I just like them for that reason. Beside if I had to fight Dragons and Thornberrys and Flans I would want to perfectly sharp Twin swords in my hand just waiting to cut one of those flans in half. But You know what I don't think I could fight I dragon. I like them to much. I mean could anyone of you guys just fight one of those magical creatures? Well I couldn't.

i like gloves, hand to hand fighting is the most purest form of battle, primative and personal. it requires true skill, unlike guns. the sword is my 2nd pick cus that also requires skill, plus swordsmanship is all about honer.

I started playing Shadow Hearts this weekend and the main character attacks with his fists and not a sword. It feels very strange seeing him attack. I have always played RPGs where the character uses a sword and so it will take a while getting use to it.

I have always loved mages and summoners, so i had to say rod/staff, but my second fav is a tie between swords and daggers, they both get the job done.

I currently own an art sword. it's a long sword with a sketch scanned onto it, or apainting on it. My ultimate art sword is called Ultimate Artist

I voted other, you forgot a thisle brush. It's a weapon I invented. it's like a big paint brush, but with needles instead of the brush hair. It's excellent, my ultimate weapon is called The Masterpiece

Swords, I haven't though much about swords until ff7 With cloud's sword and his limits. I also like spears but my #1 weps are swords.

uuum, i think rods are pretty damn cool. But I do like bows, however thats more outside the final fantasy games, as in link! Within final fantasy it has to be rods and staffs. =)

Well actually... this was your favourite weapon type within a final fantasy but I must admit I have forgotten the Brushes that Relm used in Final Fantasy 6 >.< Damnit!

I suppose I went with the flow by choosing swords. I really liked the idea they had with Squall though too, with having a Gunblade. That was a smart idea. But Im also a big fan of Auron so of course a sword would play a nice impact on that. Im a fan of guns, it depends what they do with it, I mean with what they did with Vincent was a cool idea, having him as a mysterious vampire and he used a gun, I thought that was pretty awesome. I cant say that I see a big vampire with a broadsword or axe.

But in the end, swords are classic and I also tend to write with them well when Im doing a story. But I mean...they are truly a classic fantasy weapon, and its Final Fantasy so Im going with that.

I marked swords, but more or less the gunblade was a classic. Seifers to be exact. Just the whole idea of the gunblade made the concept awsome. If there was anyway for me to get a real one made I would, and there probably will be. Eventually.

Daggers... I want to get up close and personal with my enemies. I want to hear their cries of agony as i swiftly tear out their lungs. To taste the blood of an enemy... Who would have known that blood could be so...appealing in flavor.
Haha! Wasn't that funny? But really, i love daggers. They must be fun to play with, heehee! Yes, i know that weapons aren't toys, but still. A plus: You can use your weapon to spread butter on your toast. Hehe, not exactly clean though.
