So, here I am a huge Futuristic Sci Fi dork, playing a fantasy game for over 8 months and I have to say.... It is getting annoying. World of Warcraft has been great fun, but I really need to hold a laser for a while and maybe kill a jedi. So I am packing up my daggers for a bit(I will be playing on occassion...) But, time has finally gotten me to want to move to a greener pasture until I get sick of it and want to come back.

At least, this was the mind set I had when I was standing in Best Buy and looking at computer games wondering which game I would like to pick up and start playing. EQ2? No... I think I will pass, from the way my friends talk about it I don't really have the time to get involved with that. Guild Wars? Eek more fantasy. In fact, most of the MMORPG games on the shelf seemed more fantasy based, leaving me two basic choices. City of Heroes a game I have played and enjoyed and moved on for good from and Star wars Galaxies, a game for the most part has peeked my interest for awhile with me being a huge Star Wars Geek. Ask me to do the gangsta rap sometime. I know the entire thing.

So, I sit down start the installion and pop onto SoE's website and make a new account and then enter the product key for Star Wars Galaxies and plop in my credit card. Lovely, everything is working great, I then sit back and let the download works its magic... actually that took about a half an hour I went down stairs and flipped the tv for a bit (how come TV sucks now of times? meh another topic another time?).

Everything is great. I log on and get my first chance to fire a laser pistol at some PvE training mob!! sweetness.

THat is about as far as I have got so far. I am still learning the basics and still have very little time to get on and really play.

Well... I will see.

Unlike you, Monty, I'm not much of a futuristic sort of guy. I'd prefer to have a sword and shield in hand rather than a laser gun. Instead of shooting jedis, I'd prefer to go slay dragons and loot the treasure they guard. I'm currently really into WOW right now but have never tried Galaxies before. I don't think I ever will either. I love Stars Wars but I rarely ever get into the games.

I'd rather have a futuristic video game compared to a fantasy type one... Fantasy has been overdone for years now, and I think it's time that a more futuristic approach be taken to RPG's.

As for Galaxies, I heard the thing was utter garbage... And I'm not the kinda guy that spends 50 bucks on a game only to have to pay another 10-15 to play it each month.

Also, Monty, why didn't you go with Matrix Online? I figured that'd be more up your alley.

That's not how I roll.

I had a friend playing already. He was going to hook me up with his guild and what not. I love star wars, and I wanted something that has been out for awhile. I have been doing fairly well so far, I am following the turtorial and working hard to get to combat level 6 or so, right now I am at 3.

The game seems fun. I just need to work a bit for it.

Cool, so that is why I haven't seen you on WoW. Well, I have 2 people in my guild who came over from SWG. One of them, Peapea, was the mayor of his town. If you need any advice or help, let me know and I can see what I can do. Both, Rhee and Peapea are officers in Rebirth and I'm pretty sure they'll be able to help you out.

I played SWG for a while. I really enjoyed it. I drifted from it because I was playing it the same time I was playing EQ. EQ was my main game so I never really dug my nails into SWG. If I did, I think it would have grabbed my interest better. I'm sure it's been vastly improved upon since i played it 2 years ago or so. It's a really nice world and the graphics are sweet. I was a wookie musician. I spent most of my time jamming in cantinas, and was also a pistoleer.

I play SWG since launch had a break *sp? lol* and got back in I love SWG very much, especially after CU. Level 80 master swords/rifle FS person on eclipse and i must say it is fun to run around with lasers firing every where and all u see r damage numbers above heads. *was in a guild instances and it was CHAOS lol* but it is nice u can still use swords and axes and even fists if u want a break from laser fire thats just my opinion though biggrin.gif
