I don't know about everyone else, but after I got my PLD AF and hit the 60's FFXI started to just become...boring. It's not helped since as a PLD generally there's lots of waiting, although funnily enough now that I'm not playing and logged on briefly I get asked " {Party} {Do you need it?}" as soon as I log on.

I've heard some others go through this after AF levels are done. I can see why when during those AF levels, the xp shoots up it doesn't bother you since you're too busy focusing on the next piece of your gear, more so if you're a PLD since PLD AF = quality.

Right now, I'm on the verge of quitting. My PLD hit 66 months back, after which I decided to wait for my in-game wife to catch up and leveled my WAR with her. We got 30-46, then she's vanished the last few months pretty much. /dance

If it dosen't really interest you any longer than by all means quit. If you dont really want to then try a new job or something that might keep you in. Really atm I probably wont quit for {Long Time} Because I'm trying to get my WHM to 65.

The idea of the thread was more to see how many people on here kinda lost interest after AF. =P

I'd probably still play, here and there, but I said if someone quit I'd quit too. I'm not actually sure if they have quit, they have stopped playing tho. I keep to my word. ^^

Well, this forum is kinda dead but I didn't lose interest after AF.. I see AF as the point you get the job to.. But I'm not to far away from those lvls (Only 3 from 60 and I dont have my AF hands ><)

I don't know much about WHM... I only ever got mine to 30 after I got loaned a pair of astrals by my in-game wifey to be. What I do know is that enmity- is helpful. You should stop leveling and try and get your AF so that you don't look like a newblar. >.> Plus you'll miss those levels where you get great armour through quests...instead of farming cock meat for hours each day, or bcnming and farming for seals.

I'm only missing the gloves... I'll get em eventually. BTW I'm 66 now
You tanks would love the Regen 3's I'll give ya. so I'm only missing one peice, I think I'll get one more level in and Skill up like crazy.

Since I got my last piece of AF about 8 lvls ago, I have not lost any interest in lvling. If all you do is lvl and not do more fun things, the lvl grind will wear you down fast.

Not much else to do after AF, not until you're high enough to get in a hnm ls.

I got rank 9 whilst waiting for someone to catch up with me, as a 66 PLD. Actually, that was fun ^^ - First of all, I got in an argument with a 71ish PLD since I got hate off him and he couldn't get back. So, I decided to annoy him some more, by saying sorry that I'm so skilleddd. He then pulled out his RNG 75 for next mission to show he could get hate. XD I can't remember exactly what mission, it was for Bastok against some nasty ghost nm at Kuftal. Well, we started, and some guy decided to train like 30 crabs. In the end, puller of nm got 2 crab adds, lots of people got gang raped by crabs, some of my party got attacked whilst fighting by other crabs, and I heriocily decided to solo the nm (or in other words, I decided to get killed). I did get to see some funny #####, like a DRG galka who I met and argued with when we were both nuubs at dunes soloing a crab pretty well, only for the ghost to kill me and go after him. =P

Before I stopped playing I did craft a little, but that's boring as hell. Wasn't much else to do... Would've been hard to get rank 10 at 66, said I wouldn't level and stayed as a result at 66 for months. I farmed while waiting for the person I waited for to come on and level her main, but she's vanished after I'd put my main on hold for so long. It was awkward... I wanted to level with her, she had RDM main, I thought it'd be cool to static with her. And once you get a kitty, you generally spend time you'd be xping with them. Hard to gain much xp when you don't know when who person you're leveling in static with will come on.

Meh, today or tomorrow I'm hanging up my sword and shield. Not much fun playing with bad memories and not much motivation anymore. Time to give away my goodies. =P

There are plenty things to do besides HNM. You like most people(and I'm only assuming so don't get offended) just don't do these things.

I spend alot of my free time helping people, I'm serious when I say, that doing PLD AF3 is a hell of a lot funner than trying to grind through 32,000 xp for one level. XPing wears you down and plus it can get very boring.

Yeah, I shot from 60-68 and I'm gonna try to get Rank10/sky/HexaStrike/ etc. lol 1 gil sale ftw!

Finally quit fully 2 days ago. Took some... 3-4 hours getting rid of all my gear, but I did it. I sold muled gear like beetle+1 for 1 gil... They all sold in seconds.

I should've done it before Oct 01 really to save £10... Hard to destroy so much time and energy though. What gave me the motivation was the person I'd waited on and one so much for on FFXI after so long decided to ignore my mail when I'd simply asked her to be straight with me, leaving our friends group over the last couple of days (well, FFXI weding group) without a goodbye. /hurtga

I helped a friend using another account get to Jeuno for first time on that char as my last act. forgetting I'd already sent my esp+1 offski. All I had was my lightning bow+1, arrows I was gonna use for rng, AF armour and my jelly ring. Yay for PLD ranged skill. =P

I also thought it was pretty boooooooooringgggggggggggg but after u hook up with a party things get pretty fun. Im one of the best black mages in the game tho he he he


it jsut takes lots of work. I also started an army with members and we fight throughout the continent mainly windhurst cos they have so many monsters and i think its the biggest country..so big it scares me ahhhh!

Oh boy, it's sad to know another left the game but if it's not interesting to you anymore, guess giving it up will be the best way out.
Imo, there's lots to do in the game, LOTS, nation rank, pm, zm, quests, npc, af and the list goes on. I'm currently very much into cooking & beastmaster. Still a pretty long way till I cap those since I'm only cooking 81 and bst 28. Hehe, anyway, for the ones who are still in the game, continue to have fun! the game has sooooooooooo much to do ya my hades level is low but mine on bahamut pwns im RDM/BLM/WHM/SAM/NIN 75/75/75/75/75 i haven't been on that player in a while so i started a guy on hades which is now level 33 RDM/17 BLM but i spend most of my time helping players lol its quite fun helping out newbies and with how much gil ive got i make a newb look like hes/shes been playin the game forever like i buy the best gear they can use lol but all the thank you's get anoying lol but its still fun.

I had the same problem sweetie got level 60 whm liek 2 years ago lol and saw 30ooo tnl orz but only thing that got me there was Hmm everyone inmy ls was starting Gods and i wanted to be a par of that luckily SE has started to help witht aht with EXp rings and better exp per cahint he exp ; The tnl lower about 8 months ago didnt help much just made noobs get 75 quicker lol. But everyone goes through this i s watned to quit many times but as long and my friends still paly ill still be on. Finishing the stroyline of zilart COP is helping.

Every game get's boring afterawhile. As with everything else in life once you have too much of it or been doing the same thing for a long time.

The best way to do this is to pace yourself to keep things interesting. When playing FFXI, I like to break it down to various categories of achievements or goals that a player would like to set himself or herself in the game.

1. Level a main job to 75.
2. Complete a Nation Mission to achieve Rank 10.
3. Complete Zilart Mission.
4. Complete Promathia Mission.
5. Achieve game experience in Sky Gods, Sea Gods, Dynamis.
6. Do and complete the many various quests in the game.

I've already completed 1-3 objective in the game. And I really have no desire to level another job because there are no other jobs that interest me so my main goal right now is to help LS members and to achieve my own personal goal of completing Promathia missions. And there's also the game experience of doing the Sky/Sea, and Dynamis stuff that I have yet to achieve. As long as you pace yourself, you'll keep things interesting.

got old about 3-4 months ago...online games just don't interest me anymore, char is still active but i just can't be bothered to play now

I actually did go back a few months after I gave away everything/canceled my ID. Guess what? I've pretty much quit...again! {All right}

After getting 66>69 with my Pld (8 hours flagged straight at one point >.<), I leveled my Rng 16>42 so that I could BCNM/do CoP, also leveling my WW 19>>66 for Rng. It was fun... I guess I just got burnt out again after farming back most my gear and flagging up on Pld forever.

I think this time I might take a hint and stay away from FFXI. No matter how hard I try, no matter how long I play, I can't find that feeling of enjoyment I had before I started to get bored and only played out of pure addiction. Maybe it's because I've played too long and need something new?

But seriously I only played the game for one month and quit. I just couldn’t get into it and waiting for a party to pick you up was a pain. And having ppl say that your job is not good (such as: Dragoons and Samurais) was like WTF. My main guy was a monk and my party picks up a PLD and the PLD was like ‘Um, Ya’ll need damage dealers such as a mage.’ and then he left. We had two monks with great equipment and he says we need damage dealer.

Anyway the game was... decent at best. It got old fast imo.

Depends on you, im from Unicorn, and i have a lv.61 MNK, but my main is lv.75 PLD.. Getting boring after your AF is true, it does, but once you hit lv.70 it gets fun again, cause then you get in Sky/HNM ls's and you fight Gods, HNM's, get Abjurations for End Game gear, and what not. Also lv. other jobs, Im a lv.75 PLD, 61 MNK, and 60 NIN, working on BLM which is lv.50 now.. Im gonna take BLM to 75 next.. i already baught most of my gear till then .. like i baught Weskit, Snow rings, Forest Rope, and thats all lv.70+ lol.
