While there are a few discussions on speculation, previews, and anticipating the much-delayed release date, the time has come for a thread in which we discuss our feelings about the final product.
*Pulls a chair up to the table, sits, leans forward*
So who's got the game, and what do you think of it? (I know, most stores might not have it on shelves till tomorrow, but some will today.)
Those of you here who know me well know that I do "that journalism thing," so I'll kick this mofo off by talking about my own feelings, as otherwise expressed in
my review of the game (
http://www.rpgland.com/games/waacf/review.html ).
First off, the
gameplay. I really admire how true it stays to the tried-and-true Wild ARMs formula. The old dungeons were made into fully 3D ones with new puzzles that don't disappoint. The dungeonplay is as fun as it ever was. Some old tools (rocket skates for one) are gone, but new ones are there to make up for the loss. They start out vrey, very easy, but get progressively more challenging.
And oh yeah, the story. They took the same plot mold and made it better with a rewritten script, which adds more detail to the story and makes the characters more fleshed-out. I approve.
I'll just C&P stuff about battle:
QUOTE (Me)
Battle has changed up a bit. For one thing, if the player has more than three characters in the party at once, it's possible to battle with two different rows of combatants, much like Breath of Fire IV or Final Fantasy X. Characters in the front row are the ones that act and are acted upon, while ones in the back recover HP at the end of each turn. This works well, when the player is able to use it. The game sure does take its sweet time in introducing it. After getting a brief taste (which is optional) early on, the player has to wait upwards of another 12 hours until the two-line battle can be experienced again. This is not a big deal though; I just thought I'd let you know now.
Another neat new thing in battle is the experience bonus system. When a character gets attacked (and is not guarding), uses certain equipped skills, or defeats an enemy, a bonus amount of EXP is given at fight's end. If the player desires, s/he can think up a few tricks to try and squeeze some extra EXP out of the more valuable enemies, or maybe give a bonus to someone who's close to a level up, and so on. It's a good addition.
The
music: very good. Michiko Naruke has still got it, as the game's got good remixes of the first game's music as well as new stuff that is equally nice.
QUOTE (Me again)
What is kind of a downer is the removal of the Japanese voices in the soundtrack. Those songs were great in their original forms, but the North American localization lacks the Japanese lyrical versions.
If you've played the first game, there's much nostalgia to be experienced, but even as a standalone game, Alter Code F is pretty darn good.
Let the discussion begin!

i like the 3D graphics... the opening movie with Emma, McDullen, Jane and Mariel were excellent...
i've only played through Jack and Rudy's prologue. but i'm impressed.
only downside-
[Dream Chasers] have been replaced with 'Wanderers'
the Migraine... er, Migrant Level returns... i didn't like it in WA3
but worst of all NO OPENING THEME!!! it's a travesty... all three other games had openings, where's AC-F's?
so far so good.

You just haven't seen it yet
It's note-for-note the same music from the first with a redone animation for Alter Code F. It owns.

I've heard some of the tracks from the OST. One song by Michiko Naruke was called Windward Birds. I'm not sure when in the original game these vocal songs would have fit though, but it sounds good. Reminds me of the WA 3 opening.
I guess that song was translated into English and sung by someone else now?
And at what part of the game does this song play? And what other songs like it are in the game?

I don't think you need to mark that as a spoiler. lol
Anyway, I uploaded the intro video if anyone wants to see it.
http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=11XW0IAYX229Z0VPOJ0I13SOAAnd I have some questions.
In the beginning of the game, I remember that you could chose in which order you wanted to play the first three main characters.
But I forget if you could switch from Rudy to Zack (Or Jack in the US) any time you want. Or is it like in Suikoden 3, that you switch to the other character after you reach a certain point? I can't remember anymore.
And also, what is that optional scenario you mentioned where you first get to try out the battle formation switching? I don't want to miss it, so could you tell me where this optional scenario is? Preferable without any big spoilers. =p
It's been so long since I played this game, that I nearly forgot everything regarding the story.
Oh and is that sky palace puzzle still in this game, where you had to go up/down/left/right through the corridors in a certain order to get anywhere, and not be transported back where you started from?
I remember how long it took me to figure that one out in the original game. *_*

Is this game a remake of the orignal or is it a standlone title?
Athrun
Nov 17 2005, 05:47 PM
It's a remake of the original.
And from the sounds of it, it seems like it's had quite a few improvements added to it. New playable characters, like that "calamity Jane" girl, or whatever her name was. She was awesome though. XD
You only encountered her a few times in the first game, but they made her and her friends playable in this version.

In Alter Code F, you cannot change among the 3. You play in the order of Rudy, Jack, then Cecilia. I thought about putting that in the review, but didn't think anyone else noticed

The Japanese vocal songs are downloadable, floating around the internet. I have no idea what they're called though, nor do I know of any English alternate titles. The onyl vocals whatsoever in my review copy were choral themes. If they added a song in English, it was an absolute last-minute addition and Agetec didn't put it on the "Fact Sheet" they gave me. Heh, the credits are missing names in my copy either, heh. I made sure to confirm with Agetec that the JP vocals wouldn't be there though. They didn't say anything about English replacements, but I guess that doesn't mean they're not there. Your guess is as good as mine there.

Sure. After the 3 prologues, Jack, Rudy, and Cecilia wind up together. Their initial mission involves taking orders from *Emma*. When you get your instructions from her (which is mandatory) before going into the dungeon, REFUSE THE JOB. Refuse, refuse, refuse. Eventually, she'll offer to help you. ACCEPT!
*POSSIBLE SMALL SPOILER, BUT NOT REALLY** Don't be turned off by her telling you she'll pay you less money. With her in the group, you can get a treasure chest that makes up the exact difference in pay

plus you'll get valuable skills for her.

also, looking through the instruction manual, i saw the guardian. wow, they look cool, especially Fengalon... i wonder how Raftina and the other guardian lords will look...
also, does anybody know if
all the guardian from the original made it into this game? even the more useless ones like that Fortress Guardian, Zelduke, and the Sword Guardian...
anywho, after i'm done typing this- i'll get back to playing Alter Code F.

Got it Wednesday...my one fault with gameplay is the camera. I hate how it is so far out. In some places it is okay, but I just wish it could zoom in farther than two.
Maybe it is just me...but the beginning seems rather...fast. I dunno it just seemed that the Prologues and everything were pushing.
Other than that...great game so far.

i'm kind of miffed that only Cecilia can summon... sort of pulling a Tim from WA2... without Cecilia in the party, you can't summon.
playing further into the game, i was happy not to get the Summit Guardian; and yet happy to get Ione Paua, the holy Guardian of St. Centaur.
well, i'm off to Pt. Timney.

Well, I got a working PS2, so I got the chance to play the game and I am impressed.
The graphics are great. I hated the chibi style looking characters from the original, so I'm glad for the improvement in graphics. The game play almost like Wild Arms 3. I like the return of the Migrant Level. If you use it too much, you won't level-up, so it's nice option to have. You don't have to use the Migrant Level if you don't want to.
I just finished Jack and Rudy's prologue, so I'm going to jump right back into the game right now.

i wondered if they kept the prologue from the beginning of the game (the Fenril Knights), and they did. the graphics are surprisingly good.
so what if they aren't as polished some other games, but who cares? graphics are second to great characters and story.

I am getting married to Bartholomew right now... Fun stuff. I have already seen quite a few changes in the story. But it is still fun. If I played Wild ARms 1 right now I could fly through way past where I am in a smaller amount of time. With total map changes and such...it is like playing a whole new game. I feel, at points, like I don't know what is gonna happen next, when I should.
I also applaud them on clarifying many translation bugs that were present in the original, or just clearing up the translation.

i just sunk the Ghost ship, and just got the Sweet Candy. i'm still impressed with the new graphic... if this isn't the RPG of year, then i don't know what i'd do (i haven't played DDS2, so i can't really compare).
i like the PS system... not as complicated as Wild ARMs 3 where you'd might waste a good item, i don't really like the unimaginatively named Fast Draws or ARM rounds. i miss the 'Mystic' FP ability, especially since the Lucky Cards just singular.
i like how they added the side-quests from WA3: the book search, the puzzles, and the map chart...
now i want a signature with the shot of Jack clashing with Lady Harken... it would be cool.

Call me crazy but I liked the look of the original...
Anyway I don't own the original but I'm definatly buying this, it sounds like it'll be worth my money though I suppose I won't appreciate the changes like other people.
I must admit, the idea of getting stuck with only 3 characters throughout the whole game was a bit of a turn-off but at least you get other playable characters, even if it is only for a little while. It's nice to see a fresh face every-so-often.
I'm also thinking of buying Wild Arms 3 (seeing as it's impossible to get 2 at a normal price) however I'll definatly start with alter code F.
Edit: does anyone have any idea when/if this will be available in the UK?

agreed. i'm still wonder if i'd ever play the original again. the original did have some up sides:
Rudy's whole armaments, that you could customize (man, this game better have Twin Orbs or i'll explode!)
Jack's 'Fast Draw' techs weren't so obvious... i liked trying to acquire the hints... and jack better get Healing Blade and the dual technique FP skill.
the 'Lucky Card' doubled everyone's experience and gella (but thanks to WA3, that's all changed now.)
Crests were far more abundant (seriously, i have the Sweet Candy, and Cecelia only has 9 spells.)
the 'catch-a-mole' mini-game and others in the Ferstival at the beginning of the game.
Zed, imo, looked cooler in the original.
Cecilia's 'Mystic' FP Ability... i wanted to taunt the dog in St. Centaur to get his bone.

I really do dislike the method Lucky Cards are being used. Damn, where the hell is the Mystic ability to counter that lame method of the Lucky Cards being used on one character. Not only do you waste more cards, but you waste more turns using them.
Fast Draw is fine.
Rudy's setup is ok, but does he get a different ARM or does he just use this ARM for the rest of the game? Same applies to Cecilia and Jack's weapon. I love not having to buy equipment, but I would still like to buy weapons, so they fight with different weapons.
Crest amount is far too silly. There should be far more crest.
I hate mini-games, so I don't miss any of them.
Zed totally look cooler in Alter Code: F.

My biggest gripe is Cecilia's Mystic ability. She should have been able to keep it, but let's take it off her and let her summon guardians only. Make her the only character to summon guardians when every character was able to summon guardians in the previous game. That makes no sense.

Well, I'm on the Sweet Candy. Nothing too diffcult. I got screwed during the Phantom fight and killed him on my final turn, so I got a nice reward of zero EXP and Gella. Oh, they did give me an acorn for my effort.

I'm at the Giant's Cradle, have to get Red Malice. Rudy is teh uber! =D. He needs a big plushy doll. I mean, he is so helping. =D. I like how Rudy is the selfless one...
Mystic would be nice...very nice. I must say...I very much like Mp...no lousy waiting to use some awesome moves. =D However, on the topic of forces...where is my Sonic Vision! I want more forces...I better get Fury Shot...I want to finally see Rudy do more than 9999 damage. =D
Anyway...other rants...hm...had to use one gimel coin...and I'll never do it again...during Jack's prologue, misjudged how much the boss did...hehe.

Nov 20 2005, 10:54 AM
Calamity Jane has the Mystic FP ability now. which is a waste... when you're running through the Volcannon Trap, you don't really need to use Mystic because it's just her and ... MagDalen (another gripe)...
Jane also has a pickpocket ability... does this mean that Jack won't learn the pickpocket fast draw?
fighting Berserk (at the end of the V. Trap) was difficult because Cecilia doesn't have Mystic, which saved my ass many times in the original.
nor does she have Extension (of which, i have a bad feeling that Prof. Emma has)
and just like WA3, the whole 'equipment' thing is gone. Rudy is stuck with his standard arms, but finds munnition rounds in places. so odds are, when/if you fight the rogue golems (Leviathan, Barbados, etc) you'll probably get FP Skills.

Nov 20 2005, 03:27 PM
So far I like how polished and redefined the maps and characters design from the original, but I was disappointed with skill setup expect for Jack since it fits his style like an glove.
Combat system is an 50/50 on agreement since it's the third instalment version, which means the good thing is you don't have to play new weapons and conctrate on status. Bad thing is that you don't get to see the weapons change and have Rudy reload after using up his shots.
Well I'm jumping back at it where I left off at Cecilia's prolouge.
Sigs Minock
Nov 20 2005, 05:05 PM
alrighty... i think i just encountered my first glitch. After defeating Berserk in the Volcannon Trap (whom i found out is weak to thunder, so good thing i put SOS FP Boost on Cecilia, so when she's nearly killed with Berserk Break or Disrupt Hammer, she can bounce back with double Fury Hammer.

), and getting the Item Scope from the Mayor of Adlehyde- after donating 20k gella i think- i found a Potion Berry north of Adlehyde... and got sucked into a void of nothingness. meaning, i couldn't move from the spot i picked up the Potion Berry, and had to restart [which my last save was inside the Volcannon Trap before fighting Berserk. *grumpy face*]
along with the Crest shortage, there is a serious Gella shortage... granted, without the neccessity to buy equipment, gella's kinda pointless except to modify Rudy's ARM... but in the Original, i would have donated alot more gella to the reconstruction. 600,000 gella is going to take a long time to acquire...
well, back into the Trap... again...
*reminds self to save after dungeons...

So far I am plentiful in money. Only thing I have upgraded is Rudy's Easiness.(And for that topic, if you upgrade easiness you can sometimes attack then Auto-Reload, very handy.)
Crests...what is wrong? I understand the graphs are hard to come by, but remember later in the game for the Advanced Guild.
Haven't got to play anymore yet. Oh, buts Sigs. I already knew he was weak to Thunder, checked him on the Bestiary in Port Timney. =D

It gripes me that I managed to get the game first day out and then it turned out my PS2 is busted. I got to play for like an hour or so at my friend's house and I got through the prologues but had to leave. So far I'm liking the graphics and gameplay, although the battles seem more frequent than in the original and the Migrant system still bus the living daylights outta me.

Creset shortage does not matter since you can re-assign crest, unless you're too lazy to do that, which I am. So, I tend not bother re-assign crest to fit the monster's weakness of the area I'm currently at.
Though, the Gella shortage is pissing me off. Adlehyde reconstruction barely coming along. I just donated 5000 gella. Geez, I still need to go back to town and buy that Migrant Seal and Crest, which are both 5000 gella each. Total pain in the ass to get Gella in this game. The bosses don't drop a huge amount from what I've seen, so nothing coming too fast.
You know, Lucky Card should work on everybody, because unlike Wild Arms 3, you can have different characters on your team and you have to use Jane, when I get her, since she has the Mystic ability. I'm not sure the creators of this game notice that. It was ok in Wild Arms 3 since you're party set and you don't change one member, but you can't pull this type of crap in this game. I'm going to be force to have Jane in my party during boss fights so I don't waste three Lucky Cards. That's so weak.
QUOTE

but yeah, against Berserk i really miss Cecilia's Mystic and Extension abilties.
FP Advance (Puzzle Box 5, south of Ruins of Memory) is great to have on Rudy. first turn Lock-on+ Gatling Chain = ouch... especially if Cecilia uses Fragile before Rudy attacks. can you say 2200+ damage on Lady Harken in Lucadia's Temple? speaking of which- no Lucadia medium.

good news- Cecilia does get Extension.

bad news- it's in the form of Ridgobrite's medium.

right now i'm trying to get through Alhazad's Demon Lab.
did i mention that Ambushes and 'Trouble' fights are way too often?
check that: Mariel has the 'official' FP Ability Extension, but she has 'herbal' magics to which you use the Extension.
Ridgobrite's 'Stellar Lens' just spreads the effect of magic to an enemy group, at a minimal cost of 25 FP.
ambiguity's a bitch... if i hadn't already played the original wild arms, i would be very lost. trying to find the Guardian of "evil" (wasn't it the Guardian of 'illusion' within De La Metalica?), the Elw's within the Elw Dimension give no hints towards where the Guardian of 'Evil' can be found... i went to Curan abbey to see if they knew anything about it... and only the librarian did.
also, for those of you who haven't gotten Mariel on your party yet, train her, level her up as much as you can before going to see her brother. the stronger she is, the more goodies her brother will give you before finding the Guardian of Life (lol, Odoryuk... irony...) and the Guardian of 'Evil'

THIS IS A TRAVESTY!!!!
one of the best Guardians has been turned into arguably the WORST Guardian ever... Raftina, Guardian Lord of Love. in the original, Raftina healed and when Hi-summoned even dealt damage to enemies. in WA2 and WA3 she mainly healed, and revived.
what's so insulting about Alter Code F's Raftina--- for 100 SP, all she does is restore Cecilia's MP! odds are, during the big boss fights, i rarely use up half Cecilia's MP... (thanks to Fragile + Lock-on/Gatling Raid) this sucks... the Sword Guardian's attack i rarely use (for 75 FP, i'd rather use one of the standard Guardians... or even Ridgobrite)
Zephyr better have a non-elemental attack, and Justine better have a good probability to kill all enemies.
Monster Zed... **spoilerwas a mixed bag. thanks to one of Cecilia's spells (Retaliate) and Ridgobrite's 'Prism Lens' ability, this fight was pretty much one sided.**
[EDIT]: i think it was just luck that i beat Monster Zed my first time, Blocker nullified any attacks and i just got rolling with Star Prism/Retaliate thus making it a sinch... but after having to restart after inadvertantly fighting humpty & dumpty, i got thrashed by Zed. and i fought Zed before entering the Gemini Corpse @ level 47... Zed's standard attack could kill it's target in one blow... i'm going to train a little more (hence, fight the Creeping Chaos's- and to get some more duplicators)
is it possible to recruit Zed, or was that just a rumor?
**Beware the Monster Egg you find in the Ruins of Memory... hard, and annoying opti-boss inside: Humpty & Dumpty.**

Wow you guys play fast! I got it yesterday and im only to Rosetta Town. I would've had the game when it came out but it was suprisingly sold out at Game Stop and Wally World. I had to order it off the net.....
I don't like some of the changes. Such as....
The music for Zed!
I'm SURE I won't like the Raftina thing.
The fact that only Cecilia can use Runes.
Some names were changed.
The map was reversed. (I REALLY HATED THIS)
They made Night Gaunt look really kiddy.
The fact that you have to search for towns. (I wish they never started that....)
The encounter gauges.
The migrant level.
The vitality guage.
I guess I'm tryin to say that they should have kept things the same as the original....meh...
The stuff I do like.....
They kept music the same for the most part. (Very nostalgic)
You don't have to keep gioung back and forth like in the old game.
Theres more but I can't remember right now....
Hey did anyone have trouble with Ghost Ship puzzels? Those really got to me.....

But oh well. I am back on my feet again.
Sigs, I also find the Fragile+ Lock On/Gatling Raid particularly evil...hehe. My Mother fight, though, didn't last too long. I still did get a lot of Exp Bonus because of the Amadeus puppets and her cheap mass spells. But it didn't take too long.

wusses. seriously, with Raftina only recouping Cecilia's MP and Justine only increasing my party's attack while decreasing my opponent's defense... i was hoping to see what Zephyr did, but because Rudy still had 'Despair' in his heart- no Zephyr.

i just opened up Ka Dingel and did some 'exploring.' i got Jack's "Maximum Risk" Fast Draw [in Arctica Castle], now trying to find Rudy's other Munnition round. i'm still 400,000 gella shy from rebuilding Adlehyde... need to find the last two Puzzle Boxes- i think i know where they are, but getting to them is a different story.
where's Jack's final Tool?
sadly, i'm leaving for LAs Vegas tomorrow and won't be back til monday.

[EDIT]: *read walk-though to find information...*

woah... i might need to buy a strategy guide after all...

Item Scope? Why do you even need an item scope? You should be able to find item on the world map right off the bat. It's stupid I had to wait until I had money to spare to get the Item Scope from the mayor of Adlehyde. Now I have to waste time re-exploring the map to pick up item on the World Map. Shesh, what an utter waste of time. They should have gave you the item scope are more reasonable way. Getting 20,000 gella is not an easy task since gella is so limited.
Well, just finished the Barrier Shelter. Fought against Alhazad twice, which was a pain in the ass, but I manage to bet her. Magdalen got a load of experience since he killed the flies Alhazard keep revive. I was force to use Cecilia, Jane and Magdalen. Alhazard summon those flies to fast for Rudy to attack. So, it got quite annoying. I just used the Earth summon and Earth magic to take him or her, which ever Alhazard is, down.
So far, I'm just cruising along after not be able to play the game the past few days until I was able to borrow a working PS2 again. Great game so far. I'm having a ton of fun with it. I might have some gripe, but most of the gripe are nothing big. It does add more to challenge to the game. My major gripe would be with Cecilia without Mystic. It's a must for her and also allow you to spread Lucky Card to every character. I would not have a big gripe with this if Jane group my team for good much earlier in the game.

I used Rudy, Jane, and MagDalen again. I brought in everybody at least once and gave them and Mysticed some lucky cards, so everyone at least got an exp bonus of at least 2.0. I used the Follow Me, thing of Jane's....wiped the floor with Alhazad.

This is pretty old news for most of you I'm sure but since I've yet to get a new PS2 I'm stucking raiding all my friends' houses every weekend, but if you can remember what's pretty far back for most of you, to the guardian shrine where you face off against Grudiev, Fengalon, and Moor Gault in Jack's little nightmare sequence the sword he used to fight his shadow self, which he commented was amazingly powerful was Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus' sword Mad Mountain, from 2nd IGNITION. I might just be a nerd but I found that to be awsome since I loved Vinsfeld.

I'm being ambushed every possible second out at sea. I've lost count how many times I've been ambush while exploring out in the sea. It's become quite annoying. Migrant Seal is worthless if you're getting ambushed every second out in sea.
I just faced off against Haken and killed her with Rudy. She was nothing special. Though, she took Cecilia down once with a strong attack. Overall, that battle was simple. I have a Migrant Seal of 7, just bought the one at the Battle Area, but I still have no purchase the absurd 30,000 gella one at Adlehyde. I have enough crest graph at this point to have most of the spells I need to use. I got a butt load of items off the World Map when I finally got the Item Scope. I've been training Jack's skill I don't often use outside of boss battle. Strike Buddy is extremely useful for taking groups down and top that off with Jack having FP at the start of battle, since I gave him that skill, he's toasting enemies with his Fast Draw skills.

Fragile+ Lock On/Gatling Raid, who doesn't use that combo? As soon as knew Fragile does work on bosses, I start using this combination during boss battles. I try to power Jack's Fast Draw up by casting Quick on him, so he can lay some major damage down, too. Jack usually runs out of MP though. His MP is pitful I had to give him the MP boast skills.

Blargh, Eva don't forget Alhazad is a guy. No matter what freaking gender Agetec did, sheep boy is will always be a freaking guy. So remember to take the translations with a grain of salt.

I think it was a typo or I misunderstood it, but I could have sworn Berserk was refer to Alhazad as a female when he was talking about the barrier before or after the final battle with him. Though, he could have been refer to Haken.
Yeah, Alhazad one of my favorite Quarter Knights and I was pretty sure he was a male.

Yes. Belselk( or Berserk...grumble grumble) did call Alhazad a girl. But...I just see Alhazad as a guy as he admires Harken's beauty...otherwise that is one twisted metal demon...

that combo is insane... Harken usually dies after a couple blasts from Gatling Raid.
now that i'm back from Vegas i'm off to finish Alter Code F... after i get the guide, or read a walk-through.
yo, eva... can you do me a favor and make me- or suggest to me some one who can- a sig banner with
Lady Harken? a shot of
Elmina would also be good. thanks.

Bleh....Im gonna restart my game. I got stuck in Volcannon Trap because of Belselk and his flippin' Berserk Break....
Im just to low a level....
Anywho. Eva if your tight on money put Jane in your party and look around Adlehyde castle. When you fight a Rat Monkey try and steal the MP Repair. It sells for 999,999 gella. It just takes alot of tries. I think I got it on my 8th battle.

i had trouble with Belselk too...SOS FP UP/Regeneration on cecilia help since Belselk's weak to lightning, just summon Noua Shax and waste him with Fury Hammer...
i already climbed up Malduke, got Rudy's Arc Nova (i seriously wanted Twin Orbs.

) and Jack's Guitar tool. now i'm fighting the various bosses hidden all over... i already recruited Emma, Jane, and Zed. i got Cosmic Cog, revived Elmina, and acquired Laser Sillouhette... i swear, due to Jack's limited MP pool it's harder than hell to max out his <Fast Draw> skills.
after i beat all the bosses i can... it's back up to Malduke to finish the game.
on a scale of 1 (bad) -10 (awesome) i give Alter Code F an 8.5.

Well when I summon Noua Shax it only does about 780 damage. I'm usually killed the turn after.... But of course the fact still remains that I'm just too loww of a level and I need to restart....
Man I remember FLYING through this fight with Belselk in the original game....

has anyone mentioned the complete difficulty of the bosses?
sure, there were some that were easy- not really possing a challenge- i remember in the original, the fights against Boomerang and Lucied were among the most difficult... but in Alter Code F, since Boomerang would just revive Lucied- making him the primary target...
the fights against Belselk are a good example...
as for the hidden bosses- i've yet to fight the golems, but Balaam (in De La Metallica sect. 2) and Mage Fox (Killing Stone Cave) were among the most difficult...
i hope Boomerang Flash is as difficult as he was in the original.
Just fought Monster Zed and Berserk today. I did everything I could do at Malduke before the final battle with the final boss, so I'm back on the world map looking for optional bosses to put away and side quest that need to be done. I think I might put away the Reckless Ent at Perpetual Engine first. Oh, I did recruit Zed into my party.

Oh, how do I get that Castle Guardian? Do I need to repair the entire Adlehyde or just the headstone in the middle of the town? I'm also missing some volume of that Witch Novel. I think I'm missing 5 and 9. I need to do some back track to get some item I might have missed and I also need to fight Creeping Choas to get some more Duplicator from those things.
I'll probably work on it more tomorrow or maybe later tonight.
