i like the game, the battle system was FREAKING AWESOME!! the story was ok very genaric but hey it was a good experiance all around
Lightning
WA4 was pretty enjoyable. Except for that it was short. A few bits of the storyline were pretty obvious though... The theme was very nice. But they should have added a lot more side quests and some character side quests. I'd enjoy the game more if it had a lot more character build and interaction. But also it needs a lot more towns and anime cut scenes.

WA4 is definitely the 'worst' of the series.
1> the characters, especially the villains, were boring and uninteresting...
2> the story was linear and nothing we haven't seen before.
3> the 'dungoens' were too straight forward. very little reason to run through dungeons again, if only to get the treasures and fight the optional bosses.

as lightning said, expand several aspects and it could have been a lot better.

1. Story was pretty bad, everything is about "adultness" and wtf is going on that almost everyone dies in the game that has a relation with Jude's party?
2. Gameplay was okay it looked more like a platform game then RPG. Also there wern't any hard puzzles or something like that. Also I ain't really having fun going trough dungeons...
3. Battle system has been improved alot, still it was easy didn't really die only at those break things that was just bad luck.
4. Storyline sucked, it was better than WA3 but the game is much much MUCH shorter than WA3, you play atleast for the first time 40 hours with it cuz the fighting/battles time didn't count.
5. WORLD MAP, they so freakin ##### up the world map. It's much more fun/enjoyable if you can search towns and walk and stuff also they didn't even go over whole Filgaia like WA3 that was fun searching XD
Lightning
I think the best parts of the game was the opening theme. OMG, I got up every morning and listened to that. Only once per day not to spoil. But once I did, I was ready for that dying day. tongue.gif
But what was cool was the final battle. OMG, I loved that music. >.> (You know which one.)

Does anyone know where I can download the opening theme?

Cons: Leveling was more painful than pulling adult teeth while directing all of your thoughts upon it without a numbing agent. Also, the enemies just were usually higher in level than you were. And you had to face a lot of wild arms type creatures before you actually got the technique 'apoptosis'.

I don't know where to download it, also if you look you're probably looking for hours and you'll find nothing. Fast way to get it is probably to rip it from the game.

I was able to finishing one time the game and im playing my second playthrough and i have a lot of pro/cons:

The designs of the Guardians: They sucks!!! I dont know that is because these guardians where programs and not spirits like in the other games, but the designs are horrible, especially Fengalon, which is my favorite, instead of a tiger looks like a damn raptor dinosaur with horns.

The HEX: For me, its good and bad. they have his adventage and his disadventage. I hate trying to get a treasure chest after the end of the battle, but its good have diferent positions where you can attack the enemy.

The movements: What is this? Wild ARMs, a RPG, or a plataform games like Mario Bros.? The running, the jumping, getting the tools from the ground, sliding, stomping and... the rest. I like the normal system that give us the previous games. In three words: It was better.

The rest is just... well... acceptable and open to debate, of course. For me, its good, some things...

You have to get into more. >.> I also listen to it because its the only anime animated in the game. The rest was cut scenes.

yes, Wild ARMs: Vth Vanguard has been announced... it's release-date is unknown...

FYI- the WA4 opening theme still sucks...
SonicX_Zero
As what I already stated in the other topic about WA4, I think the game just suffers from lack of good character development and maybe a polishing of storyline along with the scripts. I never found the adulthood thing that appealing. >_>

I love the hex system, I find it quite refreshing and I certainly hope the future WA installments will improve the system further. Also I love the opening theme of the game along with the whole animated sequence, kept the mp3 in my player. happy.gif
the master of RPG
sorry, i don't get what you mean... could you simplify it? thanks...

I noticed that too when playing the game, they've made it look too much like a platform game. The dungeons were short and pretty boring.

Hex System: I like it, looks shorter but some other way it seems when your battling that the battle is almost even long as WA3 (You needed to wait and watch) the only thing is that makes it look shorter is that your characters don't attack around the same time.
And getting chests sucks, only depends on luck of where your standing

Intro: Too bad they left the biggest "western" style in the music.

Story: It's more worse then WA3 (THAT WAS ALREADY WORSE!) WTF is with the adultness? Makes the story suck.

World Map: OMG I can't believe that those RPG makers are getting lazy with the world map, I have a feeling the lastest RPG's don't really have a world map, you just choose the thing and there you are.
O yeah, they only travel ONE continent? And there you are Filgaia is saved?
Lightning
Yeah, WA4 did kind of loss its western feel...It became more urban and high tech. I don't know why, but something tells me the tech in the WA5 game is going to be higher or more urban...

Have you seen one of those pictures where that main character stands on a bridge or something? Look at the background, why are there trees and green stuff there instead of a "dessert looking' background.
keikun
I loved the battle system, overall, i thought it was a good breather for the lack of decent RPGs that are currently out at a good price. It was fun to play and I liked the characters, especially Gawn and Raquel. I hope they use the battle system more in the future games.
Voyou San
story was just so bland and really a bore for myself. I couldnt get too far into it just because of lack of interest. I mean the characters were good enough but the story was lacking, the battle system was actually pretty cool, it was something different. Just overall not enough of an RPG to keep me going, sold it back pretty quickly towards the purchase of something new

Because it's a ####ing video game.

Edit: Late to the party!
True Rune
I liked it, never really seen a story about kids.. so it was interesting enough. Weird how a certain someone becomes the final villian though.

I don't know, but the background for the villians and character overall didn't seem that well cover like they were in the past games and I don't think many people enjoyed the "adult" and "kid" issue they pushed during the entire game. Not that I was too bother since I thought the story was moderate. The main reason why I enjoyed the game was the new battle system introduced. I hope Wild ARMs 5 can build off Wild ARMs 4.
True Rune
Seemed more the issue was everyone was fighting over how they wanted to make the future. But I suppose the adult/kid thing is pushed considering how often they are underestimated.
Ashton
I really liked WA4's battle system, I watched a video on WA5 and they are keeping the hex battle system, which I think is pretty cool. The story is mediocre, but does its job I suppose.

I'm actually replaying WA4 right now, since lately I've been playing 60 hour+ RPGs and need something short, but occupying. So I skip all the talking and scenes and after 10 hours I'm more than half way through the game (just saved Yulie) and my characters are....

Jude- lv. 41
Arnaud- lv. 41
Yulie- lv. 39
Raquel- lv. 40
Crimson Cloud
I agree with all of you who said bad things about the WA4. Oh, and it has the worst ending in the history of gaming. I think the better ending would be if I just die in the battle.
FaytLeingod
ehh wild arms 4 is alright. i got bored after i havent played it for a while. so it must have gotten old. i want to finish it but its sooo boring!!! oh well i hope 5 is better.

Yes, WA5 is much better.
TwinRoseARM
I have it and i still playing it... would say it alright but it could have been better tho...like they should tell a better storyline and the Hex system is pretty well done but in all i will say WA4 is a decent game but WA3 totally beat WA4
Raptorg
i liked it, eventhough i haven't played WA123(they don't sell in local gaming store and i haven't been bothering ebay and stuff)

i can agree the story was pretty obvious and not the best, but overall i did like it(i'm open minded when it comes to stories, don't shoot me)

combat system, in one word, amazing, the best and most fun i've ever played, i do agree it was too easy, however playing with underleveled characters makes up for this, mainly on bosses this is a lot of fun

with a lot of tactic you can fight enemies much higher level then yourself, i once fought a level 80 monster(still don't know how it spawned on the bridge, but w/e) when i was around 40-42 and won, locking the monster in a HEX, poisoning it, healing characters did the trick
it evoided allmost all my attacks and they did rubbish damage, but poison killed him in 3-4 turns, making it an easy win as long as i'm not overpowered by his attacks and speed

the only reason this worked is because character's health doesn't increase that much untill you're very high level and don't have to spend GC points on certain skills, so monster damage doesn't scale that much, allowing me to survive hits from higher level monsters

theme song was great

doing a second playthrough now, well kinda, i'm already done, only have the king of monsters to kill and i'm complete with this playthrough, i would kill him however if i didn't have to sacrifice 160 character levels to get Raquel's best weapon, so i have to level my chars back up(slowly since there are no bosses left to gain that huge XP boost, so i farm 3 part dungeons for growth apples)

brings me to another thing, experience and money gain

while i loved the fact that getting money is easy, it's not that amazing to gain very little experience from random encounters and insane experience from bosses, this particularly hurt the black market which offers 32 of all badges in-game and is needed to create the 3 so called best weapons in game(1 for each char, Jude's weapon can't be replaced)
(and money is rather easy to gain once you have the detector, do the optional boss in cerulean tunnel and you can gain an insane amount of gella, i got 8.7 million from him, instantly money capped(1 billion minus 1)

well anyway, overall it was good, but it does have its flaws, and it's very short

a good playthrough time is 70-80 hours, this game doesn't even offer half that
but i still prefer the time it takes to complete suikoden 5, which is so far the longest RPG i've ever played

that's my take on it, i suppose
