I'm sorry if this doesn't fit here, but it didn't look right in the games section. Feel free to close it anyone.

Max Panye, Spilnter cell, the list goes on. Games that are said to be made into movies, but aren't. I'm not talking rumours, I mean just check the Max Payne manual. Or the SC3:Chaos Therory title screen. Where are they? Are we cursed to see half-assed jobs like Doom or Tomb radier forever? Anyone got any news, what ever the source,on these or other long shots? What games to you want to see made on the silver screen?
The Evil Dead
First off I don't see what was wrong with Doom. I thought it was a pretty sweet ass movie, and sure it's not the most serious adaptation in the world, but it's definitely one of the better games gone movies.

You can't really expect all that much with a game gone movie. First off, the games script would have to be expanded into the movie in order to make an exact translation, and that'd be goofy enough right off the bat. Secondly, most studio's aren't interested in retelling the tale that's already been told, and I can pretty much agree with that.

You get what you get... You're not going to see like Steven Spielberg direct Max Payne or something and make it a gamers dream.

Anyway... As for Max Payne, it looks like it'll be a 2007 release. The screenplay has already been written, so my guess is that they're looking for cast and crew to do the film. Who knows though, it could be a later release or the project could be dropped altogether as it's not all that far int the stages of development.

As for Splinter Cell it's slated for a release this year but I don't see that really happening as it's just in pre-production. The only way I see them getting it out this year is if they hustle the muscle and do filming in just a few months.
Flame
Neither of these films intrest me much... I just don't think Games going to live action works 9 times out of 10 (Of course, the mario film proves me wrong heheh).

I think if a gamefilm goes to the standards of silent hill then I'll be happy... ok so as a movie it didn't totally blow me away like the game did but it was worth the money and still an above average film...
