I noticed there is a lot of Muse fans in Dreamers (well a few at least) so I thought we need a muse topic.

Personally Muse is my favourite band (Along with a couple others) however I was a little dissapointed with their last album Absolution. There were some amazing tracks on it but some of it didn't sit so well on me. Considering Origin of Symmetry didn't feature a single track that I didn't love (A rare occurance) I feel like some of absolution was a step back.

Well they have a forth album coming out soon so are you worried?

I've listened to SuperMassive Black Hole... at first I didn't paticulaly like it but the more I hear it the more I love it. It has really grown on me. I'm not so keen on the solo but the chorus is just haunting and wonderful. I've heard that Muse's new album is much less political than absolution and I personally can't wait to hear it. I will buy it the second I can, I certainly havn't been put off absolution (It really isn't a bad album, I just have high expectations)

Anyway... you're thoughts?
Soul Reaver
While I like Muse in general...I don't really see what's so OMFG great about them.

They -are- a good band, but I feel they are a tad over-rated by people who think they're better than sliced bread. Don't get me wrong, I like the band, I love Live at Hullabaloo, Showbiz etc etc.

I just don't feel that they are as great as they're made out to be.

That said, Decent band, above quality music.
Apple
Despite the fact I haven't had much experience with Muse, and Flame said their Absolution album was mediocre, I can't say I'm all too into them. Of course I acknowledge that people love them a lot and that would (maybe, haha) hint at their talent, however I can't say I would ever get excited about them should they release a new album or go to concert.

They're nice though. Not great in my books, but nice.
The Evil Dead
Well Lem sent me these guys's album awhile back but I can't say I've really listened to it all that much. It's not like it's bad or anything, but it really takes some amazing work to pull me from the metal realm ( Where everything is played, fast, heavy, technically, etc... ) and these guys just don't really have anything that totally catches my interest

That being said they don't suck or anything, just not really my kinda thing.
The Hero of Time
I like me a bit of Muse.

I got Showbiz a while back, but didn't really listen to it all that much. When they released New Born and Bliss from Origin of Symmetry, I got into them more. Going back I prefer Showbiz to Origin, but Origin was what sold me.

Absolution had some great songs, but the whole album seemed less impressive I haven't heard a Muse song I don't like, but Absolution had a different sound, I dig it, but prefer Showbiz and Origin.

Thier new single, is rather strange. Winnie says Muse meets Goldfrapp, and it's true, lol. It's good stuff, I like how Muse branch out into different genres, but everything they do has thier own style, this is like thier take on electro pop or something...Anyway, it's good, but I hope their entire new album isn't like that. ohmy.gif

Favourite tracks include: Showbiz, Forced In, The Gallery, Microcuts, Hysteria, Cave, Dark Shines and Space Dermentia.
Bubble
Well a few people on here introduced me to Muse, which I am grateful for. I love this band, and am yet to hear a Muse song I don't like. I gotta say I don't really have a favourite album because I don't have every song of theirs, but most of mine are from Origin of Symmetry and Absolution. I love songs from all their albums so even when their style changes somewhat I still love it =)

Matt Bellamy's voice imo is just SO good, and on most of their songs the guitar riffs and solos are amazing. Their cover version of Feeling Good was really good, but some of my favourite songs are Citizen Erased, Plug in Baby, Unintended, Ruled By Secrecy, The Small Print, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, Hysteria - too many to name =P

Their new song I really like. It is really different from their usual style, having more of a beat to it, but it's still good. Its nice to see they don't stick to just one style. In my opinion they are one of the best British Rock bands around at the moment.

I like Muse. blink.gif

I think the very first song I heard from them was Unintended, not really the best track to listen too as a first timer, but it was the video that got me interested in them from the start.

I got to agree that they're not 'OMFGHAWTCOOLAWESOME!!!' as everyone makes them out to be, but they have alot of great tracks on their albums and they have a style of music which I like alot.

They're one of the very few bands that have actually lasted here in the UK that don't end up sucking. I enjoy listening to every song they've produced so far, and that's rare, hence why I place them as one of my favourite bands.

Origin of Symmetry is my favourite album at this moment in time, because of it's more classical feel I get from it. Showbiz coming second and Absolution just almost tieing in there.
Absolution, I find a little more mellow and more focused on beats as opposed to their other albums. Not saying it's a bad album, just not as great as the other's.

Their current new single: Supermassive Black Hole, (set to be released on the 19th of June '06) is Muse meets Goldfrapp, I was rather surprised when I first heard this on the radio and then from my friend's iPod. It is very different from what their usual stuff and it makes me wonder what the heck they did on the new album xD. The new album is supposedly inspired by alot of different artists from the likes of Franz to many other's... intriguing don't you think. xP

The video for the single is awesome in my point of view, it was directed by Floria Sigismondi, I love the video's that woman creates... always weird and messed up. She directed video's for the likes of Christina Aguilera (fighter),The White Stripes (Blue Orchid), Marilyn Manson (the beautiful people) and alot of other's. For Muse she decided to go with Owl men xDD.

[Muse:Supermassive:Black:Hole:Video]

But yeh, I think are one of the better bands out there at the moment and as long as they keep producing good stuff, I'll keep liking them.
Bubble
Oooh I like the video. It is creepy sure, but its good imo. Far from the crappy rap videos filled with big-breasted women, fast cars and bling - oh the originality of it! I have liked most of the videos Muse have done, particularly Butterflies and Hurricanes I was shown - the angles, colours and editting on that was <333. Not sure about the reason behind the owl men in this lol.

Though I am not a fan of the White Stripes, their video she done, Blue Orchid was quite good I thought. Didn't like the song much though xD

But yes, I like the Muse video =).
Pesmerga
Ah Muse, my favourite band at the moment.
Hmm, I disagree that people make them look like gods or whatever, cause if that was the case then they would have more popularity then they have now, cause they're barely hot over here and barely anyone knows them.

Anyway, Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are my favourites. I don't care much about Showbiz, it has some nice songs I like, but I prefer the other 2 above this one.
I can name songs I like, but it is mostly the same as other people, so don't expect any sudden changes or so.

Citizen Erased, Micro Cuts, Ruled By Secrecy, The Small Print, Time Is Running Out, Hysteria, Butterflies & Hurricanes, Feeling Good, Screenager and Space Dementia.

I also love the new song by Muse, it is new but as Matt said in one of his interviews, he took this idea from the American Clubs in New York and from other bands such as Franz Ferdinand.

Good clip, good song. Nothing more to add.
Lost Seraphim
Butterflies & Hurricanes is an amazing song. I love Stockholm Syndrome as well, one of my personal favorites. I took notice of Muse when they were advertising for Absolution, but I bought Origin first. Both are very lovely albums. Showbiz I'm not too fond of, nor too familiar with, but given time that may change.

I agree 100%

Muse are one one of my favourites, but only because the music seems to hit what I want to hear exactly. However, from what I've heard, they are Gods on stage... I want to see muse so badly because I've heard they are better live than recorded. i guess that's why I'd prefer to hear hullabaloo album than the actual tracks.

I havn't found many people that actually hate muse, though a lot of people don't think they are that great, not many actualy detest them. I have one friend who does, but it's not the music he doesn't like but Matthew Bellamy's voice.
Pesmerga
Well, Bubble told me that she heard the new album had leaked (thanks Pat) and so I had to download it.
And I like this album a lot actually, I like the new style and it sounds really good to me.
Anyone else that has listened to the new album?

Muse's album: Black Holes & Revelations - was leaked 8.6.06 =x

Guessing quite a few people already knew this, eh Pes. xD

But yeh, the album I'd say is a very good one. To me it feels like a mix of all three albums in a way with some hints of some different tunes that you don't often hear from Muse, like the single: Supermassive Blackhole.

One of the songs that stood out for me first time round listening to it would be "Map Of The Problematique", it has that classical quality that the album "Origin of Symmentry" had, so this song is most likely going to stick as my favourite, until another song off the album starts to rub off on me.

So far, it's another great album. The only thing I would complain about it, is that I think it's too short compared the other albums they released nocomment.gif . Even though the other's were only a couple of minutes longer. xP

Not asking if people knew about it, but if they have listened to the album already dry.gif

Assassin was the one that stood out to me the most. It was fast and it is something I didn't heard before, well not from Muse.
Some songs are again quite political, but I like Absolution, so I couldn't mind that. It is definatly a good album and I like the new style, also I can't wait to see them live at Leeds.

Well, I must say, I listened to it (while it was on myspace) and it is Great. Period.

The album came out July 3rd in the UK, and July 11th for the US (damn you brits!)

Anyway, alot of the album is very different. Alot of people complained about how different the album was, but I wasn't suprised, because if you look at the differences between all the album, it isn't suprising.

Showbiz is a teen angst album.
Then Origin Of Symmetry is an overblown drama-fest.
And Absolution was an apocolyptic ridden rebellion.

And then blackholes and revelations is somthing completely different.

Anyway, disscuss it if you like.

Oh, and damn those japanese, getting yet another bonus track.
real_1)eviance
Hehe, thx alot man. I was looking forward to this album, but instead of buying I'd rather download it whenever I can. So whenever I get the songs I'll post some more posts biggrin.gif .

Well they are a British band =P

Still, Pes gave me a copy of the album <3 and I love it! I don't think there is a song yet I don't like by Muse. I love the songs Assassin, Exo-Politics, Starlight and Map of the Problematique the most, aside from the single already released =) I am not as familiar with the other songs, but this album is really good imo.
The Hero of Time
Whats the deal with the Assassin love? It's mediocre compared to others on the album, but each to thier own I guess. Poor mans Stockholm Syndrome IMO, similar structure.

At first, this album disapointed me. There was no stand out song that impressed me, like the other 3 albums have had.
However, after listening to it a lot, it's grown on me.

There is a much wider veriety of music this time, from elcropop to western, classic, rock, amoungst others. Each song has it's own sound, somewhat unlike thier previous 3 albums, which tended to stick fairy close to one style. The addition of the synthesizer makes a difference.

Overall, I like this album about the same, maybe a bit more, than Absolution, but it's hard to compare as they are so different.

City of Delusion is my favourite track, I guess, but like I say nothing really sticks out. Knights of Cydonia has one badass rift though, I love it.

I'd say i'm quietly disapointed with this album, but at the same time, it's always great to hear new Muse tracks, and it's not like it's a bad album, just not a legend like many expected.

Bonus Japanese track? It shall be mine...
Natsuki
Pretty said what I really felt from this album in the other topic. But since listening to it a little more, my view still stands.

I think it's too short. Even if it's just a few minutes shorter than all the other albums, to me I feel like it's shortened a whole lot more than those couple of spare minutes, no idea why. I think it's a good album but Origin of Symmetry still stands as my favourite out the lot. I was expecting something more "kaboom!" with this album but was rather disappointed. =/

I have to agree with Wii about the Assassin track, what's the deal with it? It sounds pretty much the same as Stockholm Syndrome but more... classic? blink.gif Not the best track out of the album.

As for Knights of Cydonia, which I hear is the track single released for the USA, is a great track. I think it really spins your imagination when you listen to it quite alot. rolleyes.gif

My favourite track out of the whol album, has to be Maps of the Problematique. Those who know me quite well should've already guessed it xD. The synthesisers, piano and Matts voice just hits the right spot for my taste... a purely great song to listen too and daydream. xP

The second single from the album for the UK is Starlight... this one has a more classical touch and it's pretty obvious at that. While I'm more into Muse's classical touched songs, I like it xP.
Ibanez Player
X_x I coulda swore I didn't see a topic sleep.gif

Anyway, I have to agree, Map Of The Problematique is probably one of my favorites, then there is also Knights of Cydonia (which also has a video made, speaking of which, they are making a vid. for starlight, it's supposed to be a continuation of Sing for Absolution) But my favourite (as of right now) is Exo-Politics.
LyingEyes
I haven't really listened to them but I do like the song Plug in baby.
