Flame
I'm talking both playable and non-playable.

Final Fantasy has not had many species throughout it's 12 game history but there are a few there.

I personally liked the Ronso tribe. They are a tribe that seem to stay true to themselves and though they're speech is quite primitive, I think that Ronsos use action anyway so it doesn't matter. I perosnally like the Measter Ronso (I belive his name was Measter Kelk). He didn't seem to get so love in the politics as the other Measters did. Ronso appear to be quite compassionate creatures however, they are also followers and are easily led. I think there was quite a nice balance to them... The fact that they look like griffins is just an added bonus.

Moombas were by far the best lower intelligent creature to inhabit the Final Fantasy world (Things like Moogles and chocobo's fall into this catagory).

I dislike the Shumi but I think it's mostly because of the long side-quest I associate with them.
Zee
I like the guado. Yeah they were shady, but there were strong. They were also the only ones who could keep the farplane stable. Like you said the ronso where noble, but they were pretty easily beat by Seymoure.

I also liked the Al Bhed. They were hated by the rest of Spira, but when they used the airship on Sin no one could say anything about them. They were also resourceful. They also did whatever it took to survive, like blow up their home which was cool.

Hmmm, good question, I think FFIX managed to introduce the best tribes/races/species for me. The Moogles travelled the world as postment and actually had a purpose and bearing which was amazing.

The chocobo's sidequest of IX was by far the greatest out of al lthe game simo and the chocoworld was pretty rad.

The mages. the genomes of terra, whatever Quina's races was called....all of the races in IX's world were pretty full and colourful, but one took the biscuit for me..

The dwarves! The dwarves from IX were so funny and full of life, they really cracked me, so I guess I'd have to go with them. Rallyho!

Quina's tribe were called the Qu Tribe.

If you like the Dwarves from FFIX, then you'd like them in FFIV... that's what the FFIX ones were based on, except different tribes of Dwarves said different things, the mainland ones said Rally Ho while others said Tally Ho.

I totally forgot the Hummingways... I'm cures what kind of mind came up with them... :s

I really liked the black mages from FFIX

I'd be curious as to why you like them... why don't you elaborate for us?

Yes the dwarves of IV were pretty cool too and obviously wer the rotos for the IX dwaves, I just always thought the FFIV dwarves looked very odd; although weird looknig, I really liked the look of IX's and I really got a sense of culture from their city. Very god stuf, and nice to see SE tip their hats to the older games.
Final Fantasist
Well i have some favourites, ecah game had my favourite species, FF VII and FF VIII didn't had many species, FF VII, the race of Nanaki, i would like to have seen a more developed story about them, although we see a bit talking about his father and mother, i would like to see how they evolved to a humanoid, like Buganhegen(sp) who was his grandfather.

FF VIII: Moombas and the Shumis, although Mombas are Shumis, just ones that can't achieve the high post on the tribe change into Moombas, the artwork of the moombas was quite good, and how the guy that's adding the high chief tells us about the moombas... well how can't you respect them xD

FF IX: The concept of fantasy expresses very well through this game, there aren't many humanoids here, hypos, moles, you name it. That's whay I don't like very much, all those races and no background story about them =/, although, as shroom said, the chocobos and the moogles were quite fun to play with, the Chcobo Paradise and Mognet Central were very good. The genomes and the black mages were the only ones that standed out the mst for me, because they actually HAD a developed background story.

FF X: Ronso and the Guado stick out the most for me, quite proud and strong. The Al Bhed are good too, but you actually can't call them a race, since they're humans, they just speak a different language =p

Oh yeah almost forgot:

FF X-2: Hypello, Bartender anyone? xD

Don't you mean the Guado? As far as I know, it was the Guado who kept the Farplane stable, the Ronso had nothing to do with it.

As for me. Yeah, I thought the Ronso were an interesting race. Beastly, massive, and strong. They use few words, but they are well spoken. If you think back of some of the things that Kimahri said throughout the story, then you will get what I am saying.
SonicX_Zero
The Viera is a race to reckon to with, well based on FFT-A standards, because they had all those sweet jobs that could defeat any other units being that Assassins definitely own the human ninjas and any other units in the game. x_x;;

I was talking about the Guado. They were shady and were the only ones who could keep the fareplane stable. read my post wrong or something?

I also liked Mogs from FF7 the little one that was always with the chocobo summon.
Flame
I was a little bit confused when I used 'summon' materia for the first time. I had no idea what it was but when I used it I saw Choco/mog. It's a shame that there wern't many Mogs in FFVII... I doubt there isn't a person alive who didn't find Mog's story in the Golden saucer at least a little bit (dare I say) cute...

I personally think that the Ronso are one of the best developed races in any FF game. They are quite complex although at first sight they seem very Cliche. However, the more you learn the more you realise just how complex they really are. I was quite a bit dissapointed when I found out in FFX-2 that they were now just mindlessly attacking the Guado...

Fanta: I totally agree about the races not being developed enough. Where do these Hippos come from? I liked the Dwarves from FFIX but the only other developed Species were the Burmecian Rat people. They had a bit of history which was nice but they were mostly wiped out in the game which was a shame.
Mushroom
0.0 can't believe you guys all liked the Ronso so much, I thought Kimarhi and the Ronso were an extremely boring part of FFX >.< I didn't see much complexity tbh. Plus this just emphasised FFX's plot rip on Grandia 2 for me, implementing the quiet but intelligent beastman; Mareg anyone?
Blue_Moomba
I like Freya's species of people. The humanoid mice people.^^ I love their style of life. The whole dragon warrior thing is very appealing, not to mention their dancing ceremonies. And I love their hometown. Sorry, I haven't played it for years so I don't remember any names.

Darkgoddess Miang
My favorite species/race is the Catuar. Going from a random fight in deserts to becoming a culture who's young likes to go globehopping. And they are so cute to ohmy.gif
Bloo
My fav species is definitely the Summons/Guardian Force/Eidoleon/Aeons ^-^

And

The Moogles... I wanted to add the alien thing from the spaceship in FFViii but i jsu can't remember the name lol...

Bloo/Llew...
Xanadu

You know I hate the fact that you cannot say that you like something without getting questioned! You know Flame, I understand you are curious, but maybe you don't like them much or something, but he does, so leave him alone. Let people express their opinions freely.

chocobos are my favourite. they so cute
