Simple topic. Simply list who you think are the best rock frontmen (lead singers generally, though they don't have to be), and why.
5. Angus Young. Though he's not the singer, he is by FAR the driving force behind the band. His way of playing with the audience, and his maniacal grin while playing make him a decent front man, and great during a concert. Brian (or Bon before 1980) is just a voice to Angus's guitar.
4. Axl Rose. He is a douchebag to be sure, and he cannot sing. But he could get a crowd going, and that is what a good frontman does.
3. Jimi Hendrix. Though he wasn't really a frontman in the common sense, Jimi could play like nobody else, and therefore deserves a spot in the middle of this list.
2. Steven Tyler. Watch him with a harp and mike, and you'll see what I mean. He is definitely the best American lead I've seen.
1. Robert Plant. This is a no-brainer. Quite honestly, Robert Plant is in a league of his own. Nobody can top him. Period.

5. John Popper from Blues Traveler.... as much as they don't get much recognition the whole band are amazin musicians... John is great at what he does tho... one mean harp player and can sing like mad when it's called for.
4. Hugh Dillon from Headstones fame... (now leading the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir). Hugh puts on a great show and blows me away everytime I see him! The Headstones are probably the best live band I've ever seen... he's not a great singer by ANY means, but he gets the point accross anc does it with style!
3. Lemmy from Motorhead... OMFG loudest 3 piece I've ever seen! He plays relatively simple bass riffs and not a great vocalist, but who can deny his stage presence. When Lemmys on stage nothing else matters.
2. Dimebag Darrell (RIP) from Pantera... Many question his abilities, but to them all I can say is go listen to Rebel Meets Rebel (with David Allen Coe).
1a). Zach de la Rocha from RATM. Not the best band by anymeans, nor is he a great singer, but holy hell are they ever a great live band!!
1b). Roger Daltry of The Who. IMO the best live act of all time. Daltry and Townshend are the ultimate live duo what with the widmill strummimg and the mic tossing. They're coming to town soon and I've got floor tix!!

Don't have time to make a list right now. I'll just post my #1 for now.
Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. I'll just put it this way. Some friends and I went to see Maiden. Two of those friends did nothing but rip on Maiden the entire trip there. After Maiden left the stage the first words out of their mouths were that they could no longer say bad about them anymore. Yes, Bruce is God.

Really?!? Eddie Vedder? I always found him to be a little on the boring side. Maybe I just never saw him in his prime. I was never a pearl jam fam, but I saw them live a while back (4+yrs). I wasn't impressed

Hell yeah to Bruce and Dave. Two of my favorite front men ever. Just the way Bruce gets the crowd going and the passion he puts into his singing easily makes him my favorite lead man. Dave is a close second because hell, he can shred on guitar and still manage to sing with nearly as much passion as Bruce.
