Da Vinci Code discussion can be found here: [Da.Vinci.Code.Topic]
If you want to base a discussion on that movie.

I myself haven't seen that movie yet, but I am reading the book... very slowly.

I tend not to watch movies that might disturb me, because... they disturb me? Very bad idea watching 18 movies when you're only like 7-8, really bad idea, I tell ya x.x'.

I'm more of a comedy person, I like to watch pretty much any kind of comedy, from the lame rat race to american pie xP. I also lie watching action movies, obviously because I enjoy the action =x.
gelmar
I also like comedies and action movies. I like good action movies with lots of excitement, car chases and stuff like that.
I dislike science fiction, horror movies (I only like Silent Hill and RE)
and romance stuff. (my mom watches those yuk.gif )
Oh,yes and I also enjoy seing a silent film from time to time,so I can imagine that period and I adore artistic movies wich have a good walue
I saw a good Alfred Hitchkok (spelling?) movie,it is called Rear window. It is a hell out of a movie. The man broke his leg,and was in a wheelchair, and his only fun was to look at the neighbours doing stuff in the other building. (I do that at home too tongue.gif ) and he discowered that some man probably killed his wife, and he wanted to prove that.
A great movie indeed. biggrin.gif

Love movies lol. The Da Vinci code was banned in the country I live in so my sister and I flew out just to watch it haha.. was fun. It was a good movie. Tons of parts were cut but thats alright. I'm about to watch X-Men III but I'm waiting for my brother to return from an overseas trip =) Oh! Dying to watch over the hedge

Haha sorry, I know this is a "Seen any good movies" thread not an "I want to see these movies" thread but I can't help it lol

This saturday I'm going to see the da vinci code, but I dont have much hopes its a good movie. I thinked its overhyped so, but well see how it turns out smile.gif

I watch movies all the time. My favourite thing is to surf all the movie channels and find a movie i havent seen, and going to the movies, i go alone even when there is a movie i definetly have to see at the theaters (not much of them anymore, last time i did that was with a Hostel/Final Deatination 3 double feature, they are awesome) even though i have friends who say "OMG I would never go alone to the movies, thats pathetic". On tv, instead of using it for important meetings at work or stuff i shoudnt forget, my calendar is filled with movie dates.

Anyway, good movie lately? I saw Xmen last week at the theaters but i dont remember any other film i have seen recently that i thought was awesome. Thats the thing though, i watch way too many films on tv to actually remember them quickly. I am sure i saw a good movie last night but for the life of me i cant remember it.

About the type of movies i like, i dont think i have a genre chosen. I enjoy horror movies, i enjoy supense movies, i like comedies, i think its easier to point out which movies i dont like for instance musical movies, i just hate it when people just srping out singing in a movie, it sucks. On the other hand i am incredibly uninterested in sports but i do like sports movies like Any Given Sunday, Remember the Titans and whatnot.

A shocking movie? as a guy that has been watching gore, raunchy comedy and full blown action since he was a kid, nothing particulary shocks me. However there are movies that have had great impact in me like Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a crazy thats actually a musical (which contradicst my tastes) about a german tranvestite (which contradicts my sexual prefference) that wants to be a rock star, truly one of the best damn movies ever made and if you see it at the video store you should rent it as fast as you can.

EDIT:

I forgot about this movie i saw this weekend, probably saturday afternoon or something. Its called Sometimes in April and its about the Rwanda genocide in the 90s, the same from Hotel Rwanda with Don Cheadle i presume. Since i havent seen Hotel Rwanda i cant compare the two, but Sometimes in April is a very powerful movie, it shows you how crazy these people killing their own kind can be, it shows that unjustified hate can at the same time be one of the most horrible things in the world and also a programmed human emotion. You cant feel sorry at the people on trials and its quite a shock to see how they portray such trials (not the big ones, they held popular counsils in neighborhoods to trial those who had hurt others).

Particulary there is this one scene in an elementary school which is quite shocking. The movie doesnt particulary shows gore or anything, its just impact and great performances by the leading man Idris Elba. However, and i may be alone on this one, you dont particulary feel he is the main character but rather a witness of everything we are treated in the film who we just kinda follow and the main character are actually the events.

I only watched Ice Age 2 and Da Vinci Code lately, and enjoyed both of them. I think Da Vinci Code is better if you read the book first, since they had to cut out so much, and Ice Age 2 was definitely a worthy sequel.
Emo Ballerina
Hmm.. one of the common complaints about the Da Vinci code was that Silas was too good looking lol.. I'm fine with the movie but the book was definitely a must read. Even so, the movie is a must watch haha.

Ice age 2 was definitely worth the money I paid for.
Raincoat
Eh, the last movies I saw were Ice Age 2, which was pretty good. Some parts were cheesy, but otherwise it was good. I saw Scary Movie 4, which was a complete waste of time. I didn't like it at all. Then, last weekend, I saw the Da Vinci Code, and I LOVED it. It was awesome. Now, I need to wait for the book still, since there is a waiting list at the library.

Lol, Emo Ballerina, you thought Silas was good looking too?

I watched 'Lost Highway' not too long ago... It's not so much that it's a great movie but there is just something about it that I really love. I'm also a big fan of anti-narrative films. I've also recently watched a bunch of short films such as 'Meshes of the afternoon' (I LOVE this film), 'food' and 'Un Chien Andalou'

Last night I started watching the American version of the grudge but I fell asleep before it finished. I'll finish it tonight. It's good, but there are certain aspects of the japanese film that I prefer (I'm also a little annoyed that the American one didn't include my favourite shot in horror film history *spoilers*When the boy is sitting under the table*/spoilers*

I'm planning on watching the third X-men film and I desperatly want to watch the end of pulp fiction. I only got to watch the first half and I was VERY annoyed when I had to leave and miss the end.
Natsuki
Last movie I watched was "Just Like Heaven" xDD. Heck, I'm a sucker for romance comedies, I'll tell you that now. Reese Witherspoon is a cool actress on my point and I thought the story was a little original, I guess. Slightly boring at times but it was good.

Before that I saw "The Descent", not a great movie as everyone said it was. I just found it blagh... the main character was emo-ish and then changed into a "predator" like figure was a wtf? and they killed off the only character that I thought was cool, in a bad way as well.

I want to see X-men and give my own opinion on that, since I'm getting mixed views.

Other than that... not much else.
AncientGuardian
I went to see the DA Vinci Code yesterday in a full cinema, lots of people they play it 3 times on an evening.

I went in with the thoughts of that its gonna be not such a good movie, but I was wrong the movie was very good, not even one minute of the whole movie that bored me.

But people that read the book told me that they have cut away much in the movies so maybe I'm reading the book sometime, when I have much sparetime (probably within 50 years or so)

Has anyone already seen Silent hill, and is it a good movie or is the game better?
Kronik
Chick flicks/Romance/Love movies

And also the Incredibly gory horror movies.

Some of the best movies I've ever seen would have to be Fight Club (Gotta love those psycholigical thrillers), Kung Fu Hustle (Can't forget comedy!), The Saw series, Phantom Of The Opera, Nightmare On Elm Street, IT, And those Leprechaun movies.

But the movie I'm having a fantastic fascination over for now would have to be "The Believer" It's about this jewish nazi, and It goes Into his past and It's a movie about the way we think, the choices we make, what we believe and who we really are.

It's a must watch for any body of any race/religion.

Ooh, Fight Club. I love that movie, though I can easily resist Brad Pitt hurhur. Phantom of the Opera is pretty nice too, except I extremely dislike that Raul guy.

The last GOOD movie I've seen is Wicker Park. I love that movie veryvery much, and the OST is pretty damn good too. ♥ I saw Da Vinci Code and X-3 too, but I wouldn't say they were good necessarily. (Though Audrey Tautou is so so so beautiful)

I saw the Boondock Saints the other day and omg...that movie was the best!!

I saw Poseidon (2006) recently and it was great. I adored the action and Titanic-like scenes.

Argh, that's one of the most overrated movies of all time and it's made by a real hack, Troy Duffy. I don't know what it is that people enjoy about the movie, but it's so unrealistic and ridiculous yet tries to be serious and thought provoking at the same time. The ending is terrible, and... Gagh... Sean Patrick Flannery.

Lets just say that there's several reasons why Duffy isn't making films anymore... First of all because he's an egotistical maniac, and secondly because his work just isn't that good.

I'd appreciate it if you two wrote something more besides " I like cheese and crackers. Cheese is tasty. "

Recently I myself haven't seen anything too amazing. The last one I can think of that really piqued my interest and was enjoyable that I saw out in the theaters was Thank You For Smoking. It was a great satire and very throught provoking and interesting, it had a great message and I recommend the film to anyone who is interested in sort of off the wall flicks. Aaron Eckhart is totally awesome in the film as a tobacco lobbyist named Nick Naylor, who is facing increased pressure from the media who are always focusing on how evil tobacco companies are, and pressure from his superiors to keep tobacco in somewhat of a good light.

I also finally saw Land of the Dead, my buddy bought it and I decided to give it a shot after hearing so many negative things from people. I really wish that I would have bothered to form my own opinion and see it in the theaters because it kicked total ass! There were numerous gory deaths and lots of zombie killing, everything that I wanted from a new Romero movie. So many people knocked it because of the somewhat silly plot to the film, but it's a freakin' Romero movie, he's never been known for creating the most amazing storyline to go along with his high paced action and zombie killin'.

I'm planning on buying the unrated version as soon as I get a chance.
LyingEyes
Well I'd rather not comment much on Poseidon. There isn't much you can say about that film without spoiling the lot of it for other people. It's solely based around a ship and a small handfull of characters. (Unless you're dieing to see Black Eyed Pea's "Fergie.")

See No Evil was absolutely horrible. I couldn't expect anything more silly from WF. The plot was rather dull and the gore was pathetic. It wasn't a big let down after watching the first 30 minutes of the film. You could already tell it was going to be a waste of time. So for that film I definitely suggest saving your money.

X-MEN. What can I say? The movie was great from the Dark Phoenix perception. I'm disappointed a lot of people didn't stay past the credits to see the real ending..

Yes, Land of the dead is downright awesome. There are such many good little bits about that movie that brings a warm feeling. Big Daddy ruled.

There was this movie on Cinemax this weekend, its called "Stupeur et tremblements" which would translate literally to "Stupor and Trembling" but IMDB says its Fear and Trembling which if i recall correctly is a french saying. I like Cinemax, it always has quality foreign movies and even a lot of Latin american movies. Good things.

Anyway, the movie is about this french chick, Amelie who while in Japan, she is from Belgium but has lived in Japan, works under this totally uber bitch called Fubuki (who is actually pretty damn hot) who on her part has a thing against foreigners and thinks them as beneath japanese people. She does a lot of ##### up things to Amelie but the best thing about the movie, besides the fact that Amelie is constantly giving her insight to everything that happens around her, is the way Amelie takes it like a man. Fubuki is truly the worst damn boss you could ever have, and not even disrespects Amelie but also downright humiliates her. I am not talking a Humiliation in the vein of "The Secretary" with Maggie Gillenhall, there is no pleasure here, not even the bad type, when you do something so mean it feels good. Fubuki is like a damn robot, she has no feelings, and Amelie has way to many of them, but doesnt show them.

Overall, i dont think most of you would like this movie, but it deserves a watch, the ending is quite nice also.

When I first saw the previews for 'See No Evil', I kinda just lifted an eyebrow in a sort of 'WTFmate?' expression. It didn't look the least bit scary, and reviews on the movie didn't seem too great. Recent movies I've watched are Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Memoirs Of A Geisha, Phantom Of The Opera, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I’m fairly interested in seeing ‘Date Movie’, but I was told it was wack =P!
Nabisco
I just watched Advent Children for the hundreth time yesterday, first time in english though. My dad made me watch Tristan+Isolde. Terrible movie. The DaVinci code is good, as is X3.
