Has anyone else seen it? It was made back in 2002. It's the anime about the board game "Go" [Weichi/Weiqi- Chinese/ Baduk - Korean]. Main characters Shindou Hikaru, Fujiwarano Sai, Touya Akira and more.

On a related note, does anyone go to kiseido? it's a Go server. Kiseido is FILLED with Go players. I'm dying to buy my own Go table. hehheh laugh.gif

Yep, love the anime, the author is just simply clever, same author as Death Note if I'm not wrong. Brilliant guy [=
I started learning Go from like online tutorials and friends, the game is really really interesting, all the strategies and what not. And I feel that the anime successfully brought out the essence of the game, I love watching the matches, cause it's like you're the one playing the game and it's so exciting =D

I cried when Sai left though ]=, for those that read the manga, 5th of May is an important date ]=

I agree with uenki. I never thought that a game as stale as go could have been the central focus of an entire anime series. I really liked Hikaru no Go - from the enigmatic characters to the plot twists to the anime ops and eds and even the seiyuu's were chosen appropriately. I also really liked how you saw Hikaru and the rest of the gang grow up within the span of the series and the ending was just brilliant. ♥ I saw this series a few years ago and I recall watching the entire series in under a week. Always full of action and never a dull moment.

For those who read the manga, I must pose a question. Is it worth reading for someone who adored the anime to pieces? I'm not sure if I should invest in it, because I have pretty high expectations after seeing the anime and am not sure if the manga can compete.

The manga has a few extra chapters at the end, and more humor, apparently.

But I loved the anime, I never got to finish the manga (it was too slow being published in the states, and I couldn't find any mangascans), so when I noticed the anime was complete, I started watching that instead.

It was amazing, knowing that most (if not all) of the matches were previously done, meaning that the things that happened in the story actually occurred at some point in time in real life. That's what blew me away, that those games actually took place (not with the same people, mind you).

I loved the anime, and will probably watch it for a third time this summer.
