I think it's early to say how great the Wii is going to be, because it's so different compared to a PS3 or X360.

Oh yeah, pointing what is basically a 3D mouse really gets you on to a whole new level of gaming.
I disagree with your statement about the graphics being better than those on the 360... Lets wait until we see some games and the calibur of their graphics and gameplay before comparing them to a system that's already out on the market.
As for the games you mentioned, well we can expect those because it's a NINTENDO system. We're sure there's going to be some great Metroid, Zelda, and Mario titles... But what else is there?
I've yet to be impressed with the Wii, but I'm not going to totally discount it. I think it's just going to be another gamecube though, a system for kids and Nintendo fans.

I am really excited for it. Obviously I can't tell if it will come out on top, but it has a lot of good perks that I am looking forward to. Super Smash brothers is what I have been watching mainly and I am really excited for that.
Backwards compatability is another thing I have been looking into. I can't wait to get some of the really old games going again.

While I plan to get a Wii myself. I'm not sure how you can come to conclusion it's so great when you never even played the system. How about you wait until you play it before claim it's the best system?

Just speculating, but I do expect the Wii to remain in last place everywhere, but Japan, it will be second there. While PS3 will be on top. Just a speculation on my part taking into account what has happen with Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony and how their previous consoles have been viewed by the public.

FallenKnight, your comment about graphics is rediculous. The 360 is immensly more powerful than the Wii, check out something likes Gears of War and Mass Effect.
Wii wont have graphics anywhere near that level. Rather, expect titles to look a bit better than very polished current gen games [Resi4, God of War, Splinter Cell, Twilight Princess, etc etc] But of course, graphics isn't the focus of Wii.
Now to answer the topic at hand.
Unless you are a Nintendo fan, there wasn't much on the Gamecube to entice you to buy one over the Xbox or PS2, because it was a similar system with a lacking library of exclusives. [again, if you dont like Nintendo games]
By making the Wii so different, and much cheaper than the competition, Nintendo stand a good chance of doing very well. It's not a choice of "do I want a 360/PS3 or a Wii?", they're too different; it's made itself the ideal second console for anyone owning either of the first two.
I dont think anyone who considers themselves a real gamer will only have the Wii, and no other console.
Wiis success over the competition, mainly stands on how well they get the new audience they are after. If they can get non-gamers to buy the system, it could sell more than even PS3 or 360. Shockingly, there are a lot more people that don't play games than those who do, presently.
If they don't, I still expect it to fare better than the Cube, Nintendo is finally learning from it's mistakes, but will it beat PS3 and 360? Who knows, maybe, depends if you assume Sony will sell as many PS3s and they did PS2s.
But if they can grab a hold of that market, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Well in my opinion I'm sure that nintendo will defintely get some of its new audience that it wants but I'm not expecting that big a attraction. Apart from this it'll most likely be brought by the nintendo fans lol.
I'm defintely going to pick this up. I honestly don't think it'll come on top over here since the other day I went to try and preoder it and they said that getting a Wii is easier than a PS3 (huge preorder list for PS3).

While the Wii may not come out on top. Right now, by the response by the online gaming community that I've seen, Nintendo deffinitly has alot more fans this time around at least. It also seems that Sony has lost at least a few fans, basicly because of the expensive price tag. And one thing I didn't like what Sony said, was that the PS3 is a computer and will replace your PC... there is not a chance in hell the PS3 will replace the PC. Sure you can surf the web on it, but the Wii can too... and yet, Microsoft, the basis of their company being computers, can't... I really don't get that.
Anyway got a little off topic, and will just go further off if I continue so I'm done.

YES DONT GET ME wrong 360 is great but it's pretty much an xbox but a few different things added so thats why i think wii will be great cuz it's new and yes the ps3 will beat the wii we all know that but wii is still goin to get it because they were thinkin about changing it and it shows and it has more fans which is nice to see

Aren't there already 5 million topics about this? lol I'm definately looking forward to the Wii coming out. It's going to be the best console yet. I mean, the Wiimote is pretty...stupid. I don't like the looks of it at all, not my gaming style at all. I hate PC game controls, etc. so the Wiimote is the only thing that pisses me off about the Wii. The graphics look amazing, the games are the best (I'm a HARDCORE Zelda fan, so that also plays a part on why Nintendo beats all IMO), etc. I also adore Xboxes but Nintendo has always been my favourite. I can't wait for the Wii. I have to be honest though, I won't be getting it right away, I'm going to stick with my Cube until the Wii drops in price

...What? It's not a mouse. It moves in 3 dimensions, not 2. Only FPSs will use a control setup similiar to PC. But even then, you're pointing where you want to shoot, not moving a mouse to reletivly move your cursor on screen. It's more like a lightgun game in that regard, except you control where you move with the nunchuck unit.

You'll be waiting a while, it's going to be cheap right off the bat. Look at the DS, that's been around over a year without a price drop. Actually, I think it dropped by £10 in the UK, but that's not the kind of saving to sway your wallet. *shrugs*

Yea I know it's gonna be cheap right off the bat, but I still like cheaper

I know the Wiimote isn't like a mouse, but it also isn't like a regular controller that I'm used to and love so much.

I don't know I have mix feelings about the Wii, specifically the controller. I just wonder whether non-gamers will buy into it and actually not mind looking like a luntic whipping around their living room when playing a game? Will gamers who have been connected to their games through a simple game pad, find it too hard or awkward to use the Wiimote? Will they like how much more active you have to be to play a video game? The technology doesn't seem to be there yet? By this I mean the Wiimote, from what I read the Wiimote isn't actually pinpoint precise when you move it around the screen. Will the Wiimote actually scare developers because of how different it is. Will the Wii have the same types of games you will see on the PS3 or 360? I just think that Nintendo is relaying on the Wiimote just a bit too much as one of their main features. The same goes for Sony, who is using the Blu-ray as its main selling point for the PS3.

I've said in previous topics that I really hate the idea of the Wiimote. It's not so cool. We will all look like idiots whilst using that, and a lot of us are just too damn lazy to get up and use it

I only like regular controllers, the Cube's is my favourite. So, the Wiimote isn't too appealing for me. But new gamers (which is rare these days

) should be fine with the Wiimote since they aren't used to the regular controllers anyway. So the Wiimote would be all they know; but if you actually do come across someone who hasn't ever played games before, or who hasn't played them much, I will pay you a reward lol

And if it's not pinpoint, that's just...no.

as for it coming out on top, i really dont know...theres far too many Sony and XBOX kids out there frothing at the mouth over the new systems..however since the Wii is scheduled to come out this year, and be cheaper than the others, it may reach a pretty high selling point...alot of people (regardless of what many think) are really excited about the Wii..its different from the others..
