I am just finishing up book 5 of the series. I have 6 waiting for me. I think it has quite an interesting story to it. Does anyone know how many volumes there will be? Or for that matter has anyone else read the manga?

Yep, this series is actually finished already, I think the last book should be book 12, judging from the number of chapters they have in each book. I still have like the last 10 chapters to read >.<
But overall. I really like this series, it's just so cleverly done =D

Deathnote is a great manga the story is clever especially how L and Light try to out think each other. Deathnote is all about suspense, instead of action. To be able to play god with just a notebook was a really interesting concept and is the reason I got interested in it. I have read up to Vol. 9 so far and the story is picking up again. I'll check it out when the anime comes out, since I prefer watching anime as opposed to reading the manga, and this manga has rabid fans in japan and the US for that matter.

Though when the anime is coming out is unknown, It was announced a while back. Should be something to look forward to (along with spirit of the sun...)

Theres actually a live action movie on Deathnote that recently came out on the 17th of June. It took #1 from The Da Vince Code in the Japanese box office. Heres a link to the official website:

i dont read the manga but i watched some of the anime and i gotta say its good but in my last post i read that the same creator death note made hikaru no go which i can't believe.. like how can a guy who created something good like death note make something like hikaru no go?
