howdy folks, ive got a new rp im planning, and i want everyone who is currently active, to put some input, or at least share an idea. i'll give you the basic story, etc but beyond that, i havent done much. i want to know what people think before i get to far into it to the point where changing one thing, means changing the whole thing.


Name Still to Come.

My planned rp is set in the medievil times, of course, and follows a group of people battling evil, and there own selves. It's based loosely on any number of adventure books. There is at least 5 people needed for this rp to work. Im trying to make this a unique rp with an interesting idea. The main person in the story will be a youth, approx. 16-17 years of age. This character can be either male or female, and will be played by any of the volenteers to the rp. It will follow this person as they come into their own power. They will be the person a fabled prophecy will speak of, someone who will bring justice to the world and free the inhabitants of the lands from evil. I would prefer this person to be played by an experianced rp'er.

The other people to join the rp will become this persons companions, and guardians. The Warrior, The Rogue, The Archer, The Wizard, The Guide. These are all roles i will need to be filled. The roles are fairly simple, and a fairly well know to those who roleplay
The warrior, living a life of battle, unparralelled in physical combat. wielding a battle axe, a broadsword, a shield and sword, it dosent matter, anything she uses brings fear into the hearts of all who face her.
The rogue, sneaking along the shadows, wary for his next target, or those that would follow him. An assassin with no loyalties but to himself, or just a mischieful rogue, charming and quick witted.
The Archer, Living a life as hunter in the forest with his faithful animal companion, or simply on a battlement, bored with shooting the passing birds out of the sky. Has an amazing abilty with abow an arrow. Said to be able to thread a needle from a hundred paces.
The wizard, with a simple word she can bring you to her knees, begging her to release you from whatever enchantment she has unleashed upon you. She can sing the birds out of the trees, and can render the world with lightning if she saw fit. whatever she does she commands your respect.
The Guide, is someone everyone knows. That familiar face who has an answer for everything, knows every back alley, exit, and road in the Western Lands. He can get you out of any trouble, for a price of course. This role is often associated with the rogue.

That's just a slight overview of the characters. those basic roles need to be filled, as for the main charecter, she/he is the usual dumb kid role. Many authors use it, Garion, Eragon, the hobbit guy, fitz. this person has no real knowledge of the surrounding world, and has lived their life in mediocrity. I dont want to be too strict when it comes to character guidelines, as i want people to a unique-ness to their chosen role. Instead of sliding into someone elses two size to small shoes, i want them to be comfortable, and natural.

The Eastern Lands

This is where all the action takes place. A group of six countries. All are unique, and each nation will also have a general role in things. There will be the fighting nation, always interested in war, the commerce nation, absorbed in ruling the economical world. The sea nation, masters of the seas etc etc.

The Big Bad Guy.

This is the antagonist of the story, driving the chosen one to become who they were meant to be. The ruler of the Eastern lands. He has long harboured the desire to rule over the entire world, and with the throne of the east empty, none stand in his way. After 200 years of gathering his forces in the outlands, he is ready.

My hopes for this rp is that it finishes. simple. It will end in the chosen one becoming the king of the Eastern Lands. one of the interesting things i was thinking of, (largely inspired by KOTOR) was what if the chosen one, or their companions, arent entirely good. what if they decide they want to be evil. what if after all of the fighting, the chosen one decides to become the evil overlord of the East? maybe one of his companions decides to take the world for himself, kills the chosen one, or sells him out for riches. whatever happens, it will be left open for a part two, if desired.

so thats the basics gist of it all. since there seems to be no sole mod in charge of this plac,e ive decided to put it to you, the rp'ers. please reply to this as i want something that everyone can get into and feel they can make it interesting for themselves. of course, the basic principles i dont want changed, ie, it is medieveil, there is no modern stuff, no time travelling aliens bringing future stuff to the past and such. but other things, names, the countries, what tpe of magic is used, all that stuff is open to be changed.

You should know the rules by now. I'm all for promoting activity, but let's not fall into RP Anarchy by neglecting the rules of the forum.

Well, I think he is just planning not actually proposing it. I'm not sure what we are at for the number of rps limit but he should check with "The Vins". *cough*

Are you planning to participate in this rp? If so what sort of role do you plan to take?

I think the roles are too per-determined. The genders should be left out.
Regardless, I may join. I've been waiting for a non-freeform RPG to come.

"The Vins" quit a while back. It's pretty free in this area now unless someone wants to take up the role of overseeing RPs. It's really up to people now to not be sloppy about RPs.

the genders weren't pre set, it was just a way for me to describe the charecter, like i said i dont want the characters to be strict, people can add what they want to them, if they want it male, or female, its their choice.






your right, i am just planning it. i think the reason why a lot of rps fail, is that people become too strict when planning them, this way, while i am planning, i can listen to other rp'ers input, so i can create an rp that everyone feels comfortable with.

and, as for my role, i will most likely play the guide, the person that steers the whole thing, its an interesting way of being able to control the flow as the rp master, and as a player without me just saying, we go here, now. plus, i know the way i want the world to appear, so i can use my character as the window, to show everyone else how it should appear.


and elhaym, im sorry if ive broken any rules, but from my understanding, the rp section has been left much to the resposibilty of the players. if what ive done is a bit irresponsible, then i apologize.

Personally i'm all for this!...I've been waiting for something new to show up... And if i was to choose a character for it ..It would be either a Rogue, the Wizard or Archer...

As far as changes.....I think we need to know what the Antagonists' army consits of...What is the protagonists up against?
I mean Evil could mean anything. "An evil dark lord, harboring the dark arts of the underworld. Bringing for the demons and evil spirits to corrupt the poor mortals of the Eastern lands."As an example... Is he something like that? Is he human? ..those kind of questions..
Do you want to go Medevil/ fantasy? ..And include, Elves, Fairies, Dwarves and whatever else as far as mythical creatures or races?What?

those are the questions im leaving up to the players, well, mostly. the bad guy is actually a god. interestingly enough, think torak from the belgariad and you'll have an idea of what he's like. once i have a good enough idea of what people want, i'll write up a history, then something about the lands to give people the general idea of things

You should make it so there are more job choices (if that hasnt already been said) and make jobs such as in final fantasy tactics (if anyone has played it) It has classes such as knight, chemist, geomancer (alters the ground to attack), lancer(dragoon), dancer, bard, etc. I might join if there are more classes to choose from, I like the idea of this.

I'll participate in this one. It looks very fun, and will be the first non-freeform I've participated in. How soon should this thing start? And why wasn't there anything in the announcements about Vins quitting?

i wasnt really here when vins quit, so i cant really be of much help there. but. i seem to have some interest, so i'll get working on it. expect it in about a week

please note, im setting aside the main character for someone who is very experienced. once i have all the information up i will be accepting requests to play the Chosen One, by PM only. all others bar the guide, who will be played by me, can be applied for in the future OOC.

I'm not experienced at all. In fact, this would be my first online RP. Also, I get dibbs on the Archer.

once again, it is not 'dibbs' as you so eloquently put it. it is simply a role you can go for. if only you apply, then you will most likely get it, but if more than one person apply, it will be up to whoever was a better writer.

also, im not saying that once the mian roles have been filled up that's it, there are still more general roles to be filled. its just i want those roles filled

These are from a while back, so they might work. But, since Vins quit... dunno. Maybe it's just a free-for-all, if you have an idea, use it. We need a goddam mod, but none of the head honchoes seem to give a #####, so they aren't even posting in the announcements about it.

you know, i actually still havent got a single decent idea for a name for the RP. ive got everything else done, the back story, rules etc, but i still cant come with a decent sounding name. Can anyone pitch an idea or two?

I can come up with some! ...

Maybe something along the lines of: "Kings of the East" or "The King of the East"
Or maybe something like: "The Journey to the East"

Well, that's the best I can copme up with. Hope they some in handy.
