I'm on the third disc and every time I go and fight the dragon block staff I die... Youv'e got to be kidding me... My characters are almost level 30.. and then there's the problem of my characters keep getting despirit and there is no way I can get a cure other than letting them die... What should I do now???
At least somebody tell me how to beat the stupid dragon block staff...
Thanks,

going Dragoon clears all status ailments, also- Meru's Rainbow Breath is a cure-all. and did you know about the Virage boss in the Ruins? just solve the "Order of Evolution" puzzle...

My strategy (you'd don't have to take it to heart.)
Recommended party: Dart (duh), Meru (with Rainbow Breath dragoon magic), & Albert (with Rose Storm dragoon magic, and if possible Gaspless dragoon magic.)
Battle preparation: before you fight the Grand Jewel, fight enough to lower your SP to 2. you want it this low...
Getting started: SAVE AS MUSH MP FOR LATER!
start off with everyone going dragoon at their reduced levels, just attack normally with Dart and Meru and have Albert use Rose Storm- to reduce damage to anyone caught in the Staff's wake.
Keep fighting, and go dragoon before your SP reaches 3 to lure the Grand Jewel into wasting a turn using the staff. don't be shy when using Meru's Rainbow Breath or Albert's Rose Storm.
After it heals itself, the go ballistic with the Dragoon Magic... it's Earth-based, so Gaspless should put a dent in it...

Summary: Go dragoon to inflict extra damage, to lower your SP gauge, and to lure th Grand Jewel into wasting a turn. Heal via Rainbow Breath, and put up constant shields via Rose Storm.
The Grand Jewel is just a glimps of things to come... try fighting- the Divine Dragon with the Dragon Block-staff in full and continuous effect!

good luck. wink.gif

Or just fight him without the use of dragoons period. He is an easy boss and you'll find this game really easy with the Legend Casque and Phantom Shield if you can afford them..

Yea Sigs..but that is used to keep the Divine Cannon from one shotting your party..

I avoided turning into a Dragoon all together, but I don't remember exactly what I did when I beat him. xD

Can't Despirited be cured by a Mind Purifier?

i just ignored the anti-dragoon powers of grand jewel(dragon block staff) and ripped into it with dart's final burst i my other party members were meru for high magic attack and healing i used rose for backup and phys attack

This game is actually one of the easiest games around if you can do additions.

From the beginning of Disc 3 on I didnt use Dragoon transformations for anything except Rose Storm, and when I did I made it a point to have Albert have enough SP to stay a dragoon for 1 or 2 turns.

A mastered addition with its highest damage modifier is the greatest weapon. If you are having trouble with the Grand Jewel (which you really shouldnt) go back to the save point before the Virage and use the healing station to level up your additions. By the Grand Jewel you should have Albert with Blossom Storm mastered and he should be wreaking havoc on the boss. Dart should use a mastered Crush Dance, and Haschel should be using a mastered Five Ring Shattering. You shouldnt have a problem.

I beat Faust with Dart level 35, and Albert and Haschel level 34. Surely if you are level 30 you should be destroying the Grand Jewel.

Please explain how you did that? Fighting in Dragoon form longer than 1SP turn and the staff will 'kill' you.

like i said used meru for healing (i had a surplus of angels prayers) whenever dart died i revived

also the first few turns grand jewel doesnt have dragon block staff activated and the effect wears off after a while

and it was my umpteenth playthru which also helped
True Rune
I just had Dragoon form last 1-2 turns before It used the staff, and I only used Rose, Albert, and Dart. (So #### that you couldn't switch him out. :/
