Me and my friends were talking about awesome manga + anime such as Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Gundam Wing, Inuyasha, Ghost in the Shell, and Eurika 7. I like Adult Swim a lot.

But then we got to how Americans make really bad manga and anime. So I don't know any American titles if you could show me some and give me your opinion then THX.

You are aware that manga is the japanese word for comics, correct?
Just for the sake of discussion, anime would equal cartoon in america.
Examples would be the Spiderman for comic and Family Guy for cartoon.
America make it's own type of comic and animation. While Japan make it's own type of manga, japanese term for comic and anime, which Japan refer to any thing animated around the world, not just excluded to Japan made animation. The word anime has been slapped onto animation works from Japan by everyone else.

Well I gess your right but don't they make their own manga that you have to read backwards??

When I was younger I loved anime and Toonami was were I was at and Dragon Ball Z was cool, but so was Gundam Wing. But then the series ended I really liked it, so now we have the series. Shortly after that America made 2 other Gundam Wing type shows

THEY SUCKED!! But wouldn't that count as anime it is copying the previous anime??

Its just their style of having the readers read it from right to left that is pretty different, and I dont consider it as something backward. Unless they start doing manga where you have to read from bottom to top then that would be the complete reverse. lol
As to add something, some people refer to Japanese work as Japanimation and it actually struck me though I havent heard people refer to Chinese animation as Chinanimation, on the other hand if it were made by Germans then it would be Germanimation. But then again those kind of work aren't really that worldwide famous. /spam

Nope, don't think so...
It's part of the japanese culture that they read from right to left as do with most Chinese novels aswell. US comics are just known as... comics

.
From the likes of spiderman, superman, the flash, x-men and such...
If the US were to copy the style, wouldn't kind of make it copyright? x.x

Right to left is the correct way to read a manga for me. Just ask any of my... uh... 400 manga books (they are all in Chinese, if you have to know). I get confused when reading Korean manga which are not flipped to right to left and retains the original left to right. I'm still very confused when reading scanlations on the internet sometimes.

If you're refer to G Gundam and SD Gundam, those animes were made in Japan, not America. You can blame CN for picking those anime to air on Toonami. They're not "Gundam Wing" type shows either, these series, including Wing, are a part of large anime series Gundam, which has many other shows which would include the original Gundam, Gundam Seed and many more. Unless I'm mistaken, all Gundam series are made in Japan.

Although. Anime is a different term for what they used to call Japanimation - they called it that because of the (blatant) style of cartoon that was different to the usual that was done in different countries.
So if someone refers to Anime they are referring to that specific type of cartoon. So if someone was talking about Anime in America, it would be a valid question..

Well, I kinda get what you're saying. You mean the anime and manga "style" an I correct? Shows such as Witch, Avatar, and other disney/Nick shows that are heavily influenced by Japanese animation. Also there are lots of comics that do the same [Mostly Indy and Image stuff] but there's some Marvel [Manga] series as well. To me, Avatar is probably one of the only really good american shows that borrow the style. Witch is okay...I guess. totally spies is totally crappy, and there are others too. BUT, not because they are trying to be something else, they suck for entirely they're own reasons. Same with Manga. Tokyo Pop publishes a lot of American made manga. Some of it's good, some of it isn't It's a factor of taste. So to answer your question. No, I don't think America should stop. Hell, they are getting better at it. Avatar is proof of that.

TokyoPop publishes some decent (not great, but decent) American manga. The thing about true Manga/Anime is that Japan does excellent work. Even their worst can sit beside our best and not been seen far in overall quality. I can't imagine why American companies are trying to compete with the Masters?
While American humor is our own, the fun involved with learning Japanese language & idiosyncracies is rewarding. I like picking up foreign culture, and I don't get that feeling from what I see on Adult Swim. What I see (sorry to offend anyone) is dumb humor playing to toilet jokes & things I've seen a thousand times.
btw i noticed that no one mentioned Korean anime. That's a fast growing market & they have some very gifted talent. Watch out for them, they could overtake Japan.

if u would consider the japanesse culture compared to the american culture there are big differences.
Ex: history, religion, morals, and purpose.
and this difference appeals to certian people around the world. Such people like us anime/manga fans, so saying why isnt there any "american" manga or i dont get the same feeling when i read spiderman just shows the type of interests that people have in different cultures.
