Alright, here's the deal, whether we're rich, or poor, whether we can afford to buy few games, one game, no games, we've all rented our share of games. Games are rented for many things, such as, you want to know if the game is good, you may not want to buy it, but you have enough time that maybe you could beat it in the week you have while renting it, maybe you dont want to pay 50 or 60$ for a new one, when you can just rent it and play it and possibly beat it for 10$. There are multiple reasons you rent games, and a different reason comes with each game, Im sure, but overall, why do you rent game!? It has its pros, but it also has multiple cons.

Pros
- You get a first hand look at the game before you buy it
- You dont have to buy the new game, instead you pay 10$ to rent it
- You may not have the money to buy it
- You DONT want to buy it, just play it.
- You may think you might not like it, even though it looks cool

Cons
- The disks are ALWAYS scratched
- May become the worst 10$ you ever spent
- The disk may be so scratched the game skips, or even locks up constantly.
- Why rent, when you can borrow? especially if the disk isnt scratched. xD

Anyways, this whole topic came up because I recently rented the game, Sid Miers Pirates, just for fun, and because I had just gone and saw the new Pirates of the Carribean, but that's beside the point, the game was scratched to the point it skipped constantly, and every now and then, the game would totally lock up, or even bring up the X-box screen that says "The disk you are using may be dirty or damaged", blah blah blah. Anyways, say why you rent games, and voice your pros and cons about it.

i usually rent games to see if their worth buying... but i agree with your pro's/con's... back when the rental store in my area still rented PS1 games, i rented Vagrant Story and Xenogears... those games froze at a specific part, and wouldn't work after that...
i've rented many a game, few i've bought shortly after renting- Vagrant Story, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Wild ARMS 2, etc...
other games didn't have the replay value- Tomb Raider: Legends & Shadow of the Colussos. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was fun as all heck, so i'm probably going to buy it when it's cheap. tongue.gif
there was only once game i've ever rented that i hated so much, i returned it the very next day: YuYu Hakusho: The Dark Tournament, damn that game had horrid controls.

basically, i rent games to see if their worth the price of buying, or just a waste of time.
The Keeper
I rent em if I feel I can beat em fast. I never rent RPG's. I rent mainly action and shooters.

The last game I ever rented was the original Dark Cloud. And that was so many years ago. But yeah, normally I'd just borrow games from friends or just buy the games for full price.
Ragnarok
I never rent games anymore. I used to from time to time, but its really just a waste of money. I guess I rented them before to see how they played and see if they were worth buying.
