Typical topic, as the title says. what do you think about the boss fights in Xenosaga 2? Are they too hard/easy/annoying/etc. Cuz my cousin just got Xeno-II and he said boss fights are too long and hard. I kinda agree with this, such as (semi spoiler).........fighting Dark Erde Kaiser: Took me 3 hours, stocking, boosting, and attacking. or the other optional bosses like MIKUMARI (who kills me in less than 10 turns). Well in general, the bosses in this game were pretty hard as well with lots of HP that takes forever to take out.

I also find the boss fights quite hard in XSII, however I enjoy them as well (unlike in XSI for some reason). So no, the difficulty doesn't bother me; I think they balanced it quite well. Though when you level up a bit more and prepare yourself well, most boss fights really aren't that hard. On my first playthrough, several bosses gave me a lot of trouble, but now I can deal with them fairly easily.

As for the length; those battles can last for a while, yes. But in this case as well, it mainly depends on how strong your team is. Dark Erde Kaiser definitely didn't take me 3 hours, I actually fought him again recently and it took me only about half an hour or so. Same for Mikumari, if it kills you too quickly you're just not ready to face it yet and need to level up more (your ES should at least be close to lvl. 80 =p ). And well, those are optional superbosses for a reason.

So yup, I like the XSII boss fights. And I hope XSIII will offer similar challenging battles. ^^

On the first playthrough (Before I understood stocking and boosting very well) I found all of the bosses tough but really enjoyable. Especially Orgulla <3

However, as the game went on and I kept getting skill points the bosses became very simple (storyline wise) and I found the final battle very easy and rather boring as well as the few bosses that preceded it.

Now I'm on the extra bosses and I love the fact that we're suddenly thrown back in the deep end. I'm in heaven's ruins and I've loved all of the bosses so far, Even the normal monsters are great fun.

I wish there was more to the game than just stocking and boosting a lot (You only need about 20% of the skills available in the end) and so in that respect it's quite boring but they are challening and I think that balances it out.

That's probably the reason why I had trouble... nocomment.gif
well, My ES levels are on 50, probably too low to fight Mikumari, and I fought Dark Erde Kaiser on level 70...

anyways...I liked of the battle system in both Xenosagas, it was unique and challanging to the right exent. The battle length aren't really bad, but it usually takes be a long time for me, in both Xenosagas. lol, I've been trying the fight the extra bosses for so long, well they are extra bosses for a reason, not meant to be faught...I'm hoping XS3 gonna provide the same battle experience smile.gif

Am I the only one that thought that the battles were easy from the beggining? xD

The only one's I found hard were the optional bosses, Ieven defeated the Patriach before Omega had any time to fire lol

To be honest, I didn't like most of the boss fights in Episode II. Whether it was fighting the seemingly pointless Orgulla, or taking arms against the bizarre (one might say, ridiculous) Cathedral boss, very few of Episode II's encounters felt... relevent.

In terms of difficulty, once the system was well-known to me, battles were less difficult, and felt more time consuming and boring. Deciphering weak points wasn't an on-going puzzle; instead, I just felt like I was taking note of the one way a boss could be defeated, and then doing it. A two-step encounter that never really seemed to vary. The entire on-foot battle system was a one-trick pony that you either "got," or you didn't -- and I assume that sure made the game difficult for those individuals smile.gif All of this is more of a critique on the battle system, but it's pretty difficult to seperate it and the bosses; afterall, one can only find so much enjoyment from looking at a boss -- everything else is interaction, and that's all battles.

I dunno if it's that I've played harder RPG's or what, but I didn't find the boss battles difficult in the slightest. Long? Yes, they could be. There were some things I disliked about the battle system, but nothing that hindered my ability to blast the bosses into oblivion. haha.gif I actually found some of the boss battles from the first to be....not harder...but required more strategic choices. I guess if you didn't exploit the Break/ Boost bonuses and the variety of handy skills, it could pose a problem. Really, as with any game, success lies in knowing what your characters and skills are capapble of, and having a thoughtful mind to choose the proper course of action. Real-time RPG's are great ways to master those skills. biggrin.gif

There was only one boss battle in XSII I had major trouble with and that was the Level 5 infected URTV, but that's cause he kept spamming his AOE attack which dealt around 250 per hit. All that curing makes fights take a god aweful long time. I know what Xerno would probably say(if he remembers my leveling frenzy in the game) and it's true. I bullbozed over the rest of the bosses cause I was insanely high in level LOL. Too bad that piece of trash got too irritating for me to finish the Omega System(at level 55 lol). The ES boss battles, particularly the one where Richard smokes dope and blows a hole into the ormus stronghold were'nt too bad.
