i dont know if there was a post before about this buy hey! i havent seen it. so here it is. in xenosaga II there is this large mini-game/sidequest(s) called the GS campaign. it starts in second miltia and continues througout the whole game. basically you talk to people and they give you quests that you have to fufill in order to obtain some prize. most of the prizes are really good but most of the good ones take the longest or are the most annoying. one example. captain matthews dept campaign takes forever and since there are no shops and aquiring items are kinda hard in this game, its hard to pay it off. and the "prize" for it was kos-mos's attack but i dont remember what it was. there was another campaign that you had to go back and forth from the kukai foundation and second miltia over and over again. *phew* that was boring! so tell me what you think.

Ah yes, the "lovely" GS Campaign missions, which I'd rather refer to as GS Crap-pain missions. Yes, the rewards were often quite good. And yes, the missions themselves were often tedious, boring... or both. Not only that, but it really doesn't help that the civilians you're helping out act like characters from a kiddy cartoon: Teehee, thanks! ♪ , *sob* *sob* Now if someone could help me... ♪ , Thanks for the advice! ♪ , Good luck with that! ♪ ... do they have to whistle after almost everything they say!? x_X
So far, I can only say this is the worst, most craptastic sidequest system they've used in the series. And I'd really rather not see it being used again, unless they can make those sidequests a bit more serious, and most of all; fun!

GS Campaigns? Who seriously said while making them 'This will make the game better'. A lot of the rewards wern't paticulaly useful, but I wanted to get the useless skills so I could complete the level and get the class points.
Episode II reeked of tedium... I still love it though... it just makes me reluctant to start a new game...

I thought most of the rewards were quite helpful in regard to progressing with the skills tree. You'd usually get some nice, shiny skill upgrades which are always welcome to me. Though even with all the GS Crap-pain missions completed, I still came short on skill points (I even did all of those annoying book puzzles in Jin's house because I knew you'd get skill upgrades for completing them xD ).
Other than that, there were also the swimsuits (always fun to have =p ), and the Double Techs. And while I basically found those Double Techs quite useless (okay... totally useless), some of their animations were still fun to see in action. Like the chaos x KOS-MOS dance attack, I just had to get that one xD . There are still plenty I haven't checked out, I should do that sometime (and when they're all wearing their swimsuits, it's twice as fun xP ).

The swimsuits were cool and pretty useful (although the lack of nipples creeps me out a little). There just isn't enough skill points in the game... so yes... I kept on stealing Skill Upgrade E's from that boss in old miltia and then escaping. I must have stolen hundreds and yet I'm still short on skill points, especially on Level 4. I don't regret cheating like that, and I'll definatly do it again this game (only because I have Jin, and you can't start getting him skill points until late in the game).
There are certain GS campaigns that I'm just deeply regretting... especially the "Run between Kukia and second miltia" quests *shudder*

eeehhh i know what you mean with that quest. it took me way to long and i thought about giving up half way. it was just too boring. anyways yea hopefully they dont put the gs campaign into xenosaga III. i dont want to have to do all that stuff again especially if it was like xenosaga II. if it was more fun and less tedious then i wouldnt mind.

Oh dude, I completely hated those stupid GS campaign. I hadnt been so annoyed since FFX-2 and its stupid PR and Wedding Hook up crap.
GSC were just mindless trips to get some actual useful items that required way too many visits to the same places over and over again. It was like the development team was thinking "Yeah lets ##### these fanboys over". I doubt anybody actually enjoyed those #### side quests.
One thing i particulary hated its that most of them were not that intuitive. For game that short of environments it wasnt that easy to guess the next checkpoint which for tedious sidequest missions was a nail through a coffin.

For the most part I liked them. Some were very tedious but were nice nonetheless. The one that irritated me the most was the one where you had to reveal Bonnie's picture on the screen in the elsa.

Hahaha you killed the kid? You went to the Toy Factory in old miltia present time... you should have gone to the Old Miltia 14 years ago... No wonder you found his bones... he had been dead 14 years... I never knew it was so graphic as to find his bones though, I luckily went to the right one.

The GS Campaigns were my favorite part of the gameplay in Xenosaga 2. Without them, I doubt I would've liked Xenosaga 2 as much as I did, especially since Disk 2 was almost all gameplay to begin with. The GS Campaigns helped give you insights on the personalities of many of the citizens. Johnny and the people at the Smile Bakery were my favorite NPCs in the game. Their parts really made the gameplay shine.
I hope there are GS Campaigns in Xenosaga 3, or at least something similar to it.
