What is the new minigame i episode 3?
and will they have a battle minigame?
The answers to these questions will determine whether I buy or rent this game.

This is the new minigame:

Anyways, I've been looking for some more info on that GeMix puzzle mini-game that will be in XSIII. It sounds quite nice, actually. The basic idea is that familiar Xeno characters will be walking around on a small map, and you need to create a path for them by moving around blocks. Otherwise they'll be headed straight to their doom. In other words, it's quite similar to Lemmings (I loved that game back then ^^ ). Some (old) screenies:

And as has been mentioned before; at some point in the game you can access the editor, allowing you to make your own levels.

I'm not sure if there's anything else like a battle minigame, but I don't think so.

There's a nice amount of mini-games and sidequests scattered throughout the game. (I cheated and looked at the official guide tongue.gif ) Anyway, a quick browse showed an impressive amount of things to do off the beaten path. I didn't see anything like the card passport/casino passport/battle passport from Episode 1, but I was just looking quickly. Uh....anyway, hope that helped.

Having a lot of mini-games scattered throughout the game can be good... but it depends on your definition of mini-game...

Tekken Tag Bowling is a minigame
he fishing of XSII was NOT a minigame...

I like my minigames to run off a compelty different engine and be fun... someone none of the GS Campaigns really were...

Some of them appear to be nothing out of the ordinary. And, oddly enough, I didn't see the mini-game that's shown in those screens. Of course, it doesn't mean it's not in there. But it does include at least one additional dungeon as well as a battle with Erde Kaiser Sigma. So, it looks to be a bit hit and miss in the mini game/sidequest department, but the game looks so darn spectacular, it's easy to overlook that.

The one I posted? It has a section of its own on the official Japanese site. GeMix is the main mini-game of XSIII. I recall having read you even have to play it once at some point in the game. I'm not sure if it's called GeMix in the English version, though. The name might have been translated differently.

Yeah, that's the one. But like I said, just because I didn't see it, doesn't mean it's not there. I didn't have alot of time to look at it as I was in a rush. tongue.gif Anyway, if it's something that you have to do at some point in the game, they simply may not have listed it in the sidequest section of the book. But I'm not ruling out the possiblity it was cut, either. North American versions of games tend to get stuff cut out that really has no need to be cut.
Flame
I doubt it would be cut... that just doesn't seem right... it would have taken a lot of time to create a minigame like this which looks quite complex... anyway, the things that are cut out are normally small things and often have a reason. I think the only thing that Japan gained over America in the first Game was a couple of costumes...

You'd be surprised. An astonishing amount of stuff was cut from the US version of Tales of Symphonia. And there was no reason whatsoever to do it. *shrugs* Anyway, I guess we'll all find out soon enough. tongue.gif

Sorry to double post, but I just picked up my copy of the game. I would like to quote part of the back cover information:

"60 premade mini-game levels and a mini-game level editor for sharing custom maps with friends"
Demonwing
HaKox, which is it's american name, isn't that bad but rather annoying because of all the levels. Just gonna skip ahead to the ones I know I want something from, AKA Rubedo's ultimate weapon
Xerno
HaKox...? ... ... Hahahŕ~! xD Ahem, that's a horrible name if you ask me. I'll stick with GeMix. Geez, of all the possible translations they came up with HaKox. Why didn't they just keep the original name anyway? Oh well, as long as the game is fun to play it doesn't really matter.
Demonwing
I got rather annoyed, because when I selected Level 1, it went all the way up to Level 1 Stage 10 XD

I agree though, weird name o.o
Flame
I don't mind it when you have to go out of your way to get a character's ultimate weapon but I normally hate having to do minigames to get them, only because 9 out of 10 times I suck at the mini-game and they are quite often very tedious (FFX Lulu's weapon anyone?).

GeMix sounds like more of a translation than HaKox... I wish they would have just named it GeMix. >.<

One question... is this mini-game available from the beginning (or at least near the beginning)?
Grahf
Yeah, I think it is, I played it for the first time in the Merkabah museum. I found it kind of weird, but im just playing through, so I didnt really feel like playing it when I saw it.
Demonwing
Yeah, it's available really early on, though you don't unlock harder leels with better rewards til you progress in the story. They wouldn't want you to have Rubedo's ultimate weapon when fighting one of the first bosses =p
Xerno
The later levels are a bit too frustrating for my taste. I didn't bother trying them out for long. But the characters' little quotes can be funny sometimes. Like when KOS-MOS doesn't make it: "I apologise, I'm unable to complete my missiooon~!" xD
