As many suspected, there will indeed be a Final Mix version of KH 2.

Heres a scan from Famitsu.

At the bottom of the scan it seems to show what looks like a PS2 version of Chain of Memories.
If this is a bonus feature of KH 2: FM I'm sure a lot of KH fans will be happy to hear that.
Final Fantasist
Meh and as usual, it won't be release anywhere except Japan. So yeah... I even want to know how they managed to add even more stuff, I remember reading that they didn't put everything they wanted in KH II due to lack od spack in the dvd. Maybe they're going to realese this Final Mix with two?

And at the bottom of the scan, a GBA game ported to PS2? I mean, yeah sure, it's from SE but porting a game from Nintendo to Sony? We're gonna see fireworks xD but I would like to see it done though and also KH II: FM being realesed in EUrope too, but chances are slim at best.

Oh, and who is that guy in the middle pic? The first time I saw him it looked like Kadaj for a minute o.O

note: I didn't play KH II yet so if it's a in-game character, nevermind this comment.
Athrun
I believe the character if from the new secret ending, which I haven't seen so I wouldn't know who it is.

I'm guessing it will be a two disc edition. Chain of Memories might be on a separate disc.
The scan also mentioned that there will be pre order bonuses for the game.
Final Fantasist
Well, but I just know it won't be released outside Japan... Let's see how it turns out.
FallenKnight
sweet i loved the other two kh games but i hope it wont be for the ps2 and for the ps3 but doesnt look like it but hey who knows lets find out.
Mr. Wonderful
Athrun is it possible that you can post a link to where you got this, I mena I'm really looking forward to it if this games does get released outside Japan.

I don't think just a picture is applicable for this to be total proof.
AnimePaul
If we do get Chains of Memories also included with Final Mix, I would really hope that they do release it outside of Japan. Lets keep our fingers crossed. If it does get released here in North America I most likely will trade in my orignal copy of Kingdom Hearts II and use the money or credit to get Final Mix and thats if it gets released outside of Japan.

It's very doubtful there are tons of Japanese RPG's that America doesn't have.

And could someone please post a link?
Lostprophet
If this doesn't release in the US, something is wrong. I think Kingdom Hearts 2's sales figures are proof that we love this series just as much as the Japanese. A PS2 Chain of Memories would be sick, and would probably help boost sales even more. The knight from the new secret ending looks ridiculous, and there's something familiar about those eyes. Can't be Sora though, could it? Nomura said in an interview that the characters in the secret ending weren't Sora, Kairi, or Riku. What color are Roxas' eyes? More Roxas would be welcome.
Mr. Wonderful
This speculation is simply outrageuos without a Link for some proof please. I really need proof. For all I know this supposed scan could be made from some Japanese KH fanboy, for all I know. Not to be offensive, but this just proves as pointless speculation thus far.

Its not that hard to believe that Square-Enix is making a Final Mix for Kingdom Hearts II since Nomura wasn't able to fit what he wanted in the game because of storage problems and SE gets more money that way too. Its a scan from Famitsu, Japans leading gaming magazine, so there probably isn't any link unless you can read Japanese also it would be pretty hard to make that pic with the knight since it is in CG. I'm thinking that knight is from the secret trailer at the end of the game. The final mix will probably have an extend scene for the secret trailer. If you want some kind of link heres a link to magic-box. Its a site that cover both american and Japan game releases and states a rumor that Square-Enix is developing Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix http://www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm
Mr. Wonderful
Well I finally got my proof.

EDIT: I wonder when this game comes out in Japan.
SonicX_Zero
Well one thing I'm glad that the FM version is finally announced is that we'll get to see another extended kickass FMV for the secret movie like Deep Dive. w00t As it seems that middle guy having his helmet cracked open unlike in the original where it was just them standing, I'm guessing a battle ensued after that scene in the secret ending. happy.gif

I'm guessing that too. The pointy cat-ear helmet looks familiar.

I'm going to sit tight and see what's going to be in the Final Mix version before I contemplating getting it... If there's more Axel, Demyx or Roxas or if CoM is included, well... I'm going to start saving up. tongue.gif Otherwise, I'll think about it. Think really hard about it.
Athrun
Good thing I didn't play KH 2 yet. I'll probabaly hold out for this one instead. =p
And I haven't played COM either, so this is very conveniant for me. ='o

Lol, unless you're joking, why do you think that? I didnt see any fireworks when RE4 and Tales of Symphonia came to PS2 from Cube. huh.gif

Maybe someone can tell me when just the orginal KH II comes out in Europe, I've been waiting for ages. sad.gif

Haha actually I did. =p
How ToS was a best selling game for GC and shouldn't come out on PS2, or flaming arguments of how this version is better than that version of RE 4.

But I dunno, I don't see that happening this time.

"The GBA versiuon is so much better than the PS2 version... because... because... it uses 2D graphics!"
The Hero of Time
"You cant play your PS2 in the bathroom!"

There's your arguement!

Any idea when regular old KH:II gets released here?
Athrun
No idea. But IIRC it was around the time of FF 12's release. October or November.
True Rune
Nice! Even though it seems real soon to make a remake of it when I was satisfied w/ it already. (imo) Unless they rid half of the game of just doing those damnable disney quests. >_<; Either way, my friend will want to know about this.

The last trailer from Square-Enix's was Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, which is a remixed version of Kingdom Hearts II (a.k.a the US version) as well as a title called Kingdom Hearts: Re:chain of Memories. As the title suggests, this is a remake of the GBA game of a similar name, but it's been completely redone in 3D. Not only that, but the game will include areas that weren't found in Chain of Memories before. Using an engine based on Kingdom Hearts II, the same card-based combat still applies, but it also includes the button-based combat found in Kingdom Hearts II. Interestingly enough, all of the cutscenes shown during the trailer featured only short appearances from the Disney characters.

TGS 2006: Square-Enix Theatre report

Oh wee! RE: Chain of Memories! More Axel! And Marluxia and Zexion! Wee! There are some screenies here, check them out!
Athrun
Nice screen shots.
And great news for me, since I never played Chain of Memories.
Nor KH 2 actually. I'll definitely get this game.

"Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix + will be released in Japan in spring 2007."
Dante2ndAdvent
HOORAY!!! KH2 finally come out over here today! You guys have had it for a while, yeah?

Re: Chain of Memories and Final Mix are looking good.
Chalryn

Am I the only one who's a bit more interested in this screen than the others? Haha.

Anyway, yeah, CoM would definitely be a nice port (in concept, if nothing else), especially since it always bugged me that such a crucial part of the KH story was on a different system. >_< I did get to play a bit of it, though, so I at least had a general idea of what happened. Never finished it, though. I wouldn't mind if SE only released this in other countries, without the actual remake of KH2, actually. Personally, I think it's a bigger deal than KH2:FM. *shrug*

Some of those screens for KH2:FM are looking nice as well, though. I'm curious about just what exactly could be added to the game, though, and how. Regardless of my previous statements, though, if KH2:FM is released outside of Japan, I'm sure I'll go trade in my original KH2 and see what I can do to pick up a copy of the remake(s).
Athrun
I think the fact that Re: Chain of memories comes with Final Mix ups the chances of this being released outside of Japan. It's definitely something fans are going to demand.

In the last Final Mix you could fight the leader of the XIII order. So perhaps this time they'll add one of those Keyblade knights as an optional boss.
They'll probably add some additional scenes (Like the one showing Roxas fighting Riku in his ansem form), new weapons, moves and some new bosses.
Zenonix
Athrun, those are nice artworks. Man, how did he draw so good???????!!!!!!

Nyway, the pics with the knight with the shattered armour (poor guy), I'm interested! You know, the first things I notice about that screenshot was that his eye, so.....blue........ Like Sora's. Hehe.
Mr. Wonderful
Yeah thats what I'm speculating too. Hopefully it is. Maybe the other 2 knights in armor, are Donald and Goofy. I noticed in the secret ending of KH2, one of them were shorter than the other 2. IDK, though.
Vex Core
From what I heard, they said KH III takes place in a different time. Maybe it's a descendant. That pic is a teaser to all.
Mr. Wonderful
True, thats very possible as well.

I just hope the charecter of the supposed descendant of Sora, remains slightly unchanged. Sora's charecter is pretty good.
Athrun
His hair looks a bit like Kairi's so it could be a son of theirs, but I hope the game isn't too far in the past or future, and still features Sora, Riku and co.

It's probably Sora himself as an adult. In that secret trailer there's 3 knights like that, each holding one of the 3 main keyblades. So my guess would be that 2 of them are Sora and Riku, but I'm kinda clueless on who the 3rd knight would be, since none of them are Mickey's size. =p Unless maybe Kairi herself also fights this time? Hmm..
Athrun
Those Keyblades they are holding don't look like Oblivion, Kingdom Key and Oathkeeper though. At first glance they did, but when I looked again I noticed they had different shapes than those three. One of them does look like a form of Kingdom Key though.

But they mentioned that the keyblade once brought both ruin and order to the world. So this could have been a scene from the past to explain the origin of the Keyblades.

But then again in the scene it mentions "Memories of Xehanort"
And I just noticed there is a silouette shape of some person in the background.

Yeah, you probably saw them holding something like this -

He's holding that before he grabs the Oathkeeper.

In the trailer they're in a desert full of keyblades. There's thousands of them all lined up stuck in the sand. The 3 knights meet and walk towards the center area where the Kingdom Key, Oathkeeper, and Oblivion are stuck in the sand, and they each take one.

Notice in the one above, you can clearly make it out as the Kingdom Key, with the Mickey symbol hanging from that chain.

And the knight in the picture above here looks to be female... Kairi, perhaps?

And then it cuts to a mysterious figure coming towards them, with some random phrases and clues flashing accross the screen.

So yeah...I'm not sure what to make of it. But I'll stick to my original guess that it's Sora, Riku, and Kairi as adults. Unless it's a completely new character cast, I dunno what else it could be.
SonicX_Zero
IIRC in an interview, Nomura stated that those 3 are new characters and not Sora, Kairi and Riku.
Mr. Wonderful
Can you post a link? JD-San's theory was conducted well, enough for me to believe his theory.
SonicX_Zero
QUOTE (Nomura Interview @ KH2 ultimania)
Who are the 3 armoured people?
Those 3 are completely new people who haven't shown up at all. In fact, I've already thought of their names. Back when I was making that movie, I only had their settings but now I've even drawn their faces to give myself a clearer image of them.

The king, Sora and Riku's keyblades were there, too.
It's to show that those three armoured people aren't them but that doesn't mean they don't have connections. The words "Keyblade War" that showed up in the middle were to implicate that there were fights between Keyblades. Most of the puzzles in the first KH have been solved in KHII but there are many things about the Keyblade that haven't been revealed yet. A line from the previous game's Ansem Report #8 appeared in the movie but that is to say "It means this but it's not explained yet."

The rest of the interview
Mr. Wonderful
OK, thats good. But I'd rather still just Sora in it.
Athrun
Well those aren't Oblivion and Oathkeeper.
I'll show you in my screen shots.

The first screen of the three keyblades show one on the left that "looks" like Oblivion (so far) but the other two? Where is Oathkeeper? They both look like thin Kingdom Keys.

A closer look reveals that they both have the Mickey Mouse keychain attached to them. (The one to the left and the center one)

And Oathkeeper does not look anything like that, because Oathkeeper has two blades.

While this key only has one.

Now lets see one of the knights picking up the so-called Oblivion from the ground. (Which now has a heartshaped Keychain attached to it.)

Look at the shaft, it has some sort of wing/feather shaped thing on it, and the rest doesn't look like Oblivion either.

Comparison. Oblivion also has a key like shaft while this new key looks more like the One Winged Angel keyblade from KH Final Mix because of it's feather/wing like shaft.

This image shows the wing edge as well, but look at the knight to the left, picking up what JD thohght was Oathkeeper.

The next moment reveals this to be yet another Kingdom key.
And the middle Kingdom key does not have a golden blade, so it's either Sora's Kingdom Key, or just a new one, like the one on the left seems to be.

So yeah, new characters with most likely new Keyblades. But that middle one could have been Sora's Kingdom Key.
True Rune
Looks like Riku's blade when he fights with you in 2. I guess if it wasn't so far off, I'd be more interested. But I prolly would get it.
Chalryn
((Umm... Okay, I think I just goofed. :S Anyway, this is referring to some comments from the previous page, about the knight-like character.))

Yeah, from what I've heard, the main characters will probably even be completely different. However, that doesn't exactly disqualify Sora from being in the game at all, does it? There are so many possibilities of how he could appear in the game, so I'm not going to bother to pick one, but I do say it's possible, depending on just how long in the past or future the game takes place. Even if that "knight" really were Sora, he looks a hell of a lot older.

Anyway, it's also entirely possible that it's simply due to similar character design. The hair looks pretty different from Sora's usual spiky hair, so who knows...

Anyway, as for those Keyblades, they seem to be Sora and Mickey's keyblades, as well as Riku's Way To The Dawn keyblade. The third has every detail of Way To The Dawn: the bat wing-like blade with the angel-like wing at the end, the Heartless-looking symbol as a keychain, and the wing-like hilt.

Also, all three of those "knight" characters are already holding weapons when they go to pick up those Keyblades. They seem similar in design to Keyblades, though I'm not sure if they actually are or not. Judging by a close-up of the one carried by the first character seen in the scene, it looks more like a typical sword-type weapon. (At least to me.)

Oh yeah. What looked like the One Winged Angel keyblade is probably the Way to the Dawn keyblade. I've never seen it before, but I looked it up and it does indeed look very similar.

But where do you see Mickey's Keyblade? Mickey's is a golden Kingdom Key. There is no golden Kingdom Key in this movie. Only a silver one, and one that looks like Sora's.

Yeah, to be honest, it was just a somewhat baseless assumption. <.<; If I remember correctly, the colors of Mickey's are the inverse of Sora's. Sora's is a silver blade with a gold/yellow hilt and a silver keychain, while Mickey's is a golden blade with a silver hilt and a gold keychain.

I guess it's not, but Mickey's the only other character I know of with a Kingdom Key-type model, besides Sora, so I assumed maybe they just changed the colors for it or something. Heck, maybe it's just a new model designed after the Kingdom Key, to be wielded by a new character or something. *shrug*
Seluna
I personally think that the three of them are from the past instead of the future. I don't particularly feel like contemplating their identities with so little information, but I'm definitely looking forward to anything with them in it.
Zenonix
After minutes of observing, I've been wondering, that guy with the shattered armour, is he one of the trio in the hidden trailer? I mean if you look at the head armour of the shattered one, you can see a V-shaped rith at the forehead. Since he's a guy, and there's only 1 guy (seems most likely) in the trio, we can assume that could be him, but, the head armour just doesn't seem to match.

Uhh, you get what I mean? dry.gif

I'm kinda shock when i got the secret endings.. what the hell are those 3 kamen raider looked XD
i thought they are sora, riku, & kairi.. one of them looks like a girl
But sonicX said that those 3 arent them

But athrun's scan at the first page, the second pic, isnt that sora? blue eyes, brown hair, so KH II final mix main chara isnt sora?
i'm getting confused @_@

when is this game (US ver) release date?
Athrun
No. Nomura said that those characters are new characters. He didn't even come up with names for them until just recently.

As for a US release, normally I'd say there probably won't be one. But since Re: Chain of Memories is included, I think there's a chance of an English translation.
But right now we don't even have a Jap release date.

GBA? Won't that be KH: Chain of Memories? I have it on Emu (both English and Chinese) but I have yet to play it yet. I heard that the plot's not bad, but the travelling through worlds thing was like KH1 v2.

I thought the plot was pretty interesting in Chain of Memories, it's just the high learning curve of the card-based system that turns a lot of people off. I prefered that style, sometimes, actually. ^^

The world traveling included the same words from Kingdom Hearts and one from Kingdom Hearts 2, but it's actually completely different. The game revolved heavily on the cards, so even world travelling included dealing with card after card.

Actually the game confused me for the first few worlds. XD

I'm sort of looking forward to Final Mix, myself. Not so much since I'm certainly not looking forward to rebuying KH2, that's lame.

But going back on the discussion on the secret ending. Didn't Nomura mention that it took place in the past or had that point already been crossed and cleared? (I'm skimming through, sorry.)

It's just, I read that same interview that Sonic-y posted, and I kind of remember that he said something like that. And I'm not sure if I read this from there or if it was just a rumour floating around, but wasn't the idea of KH3 going to take place in the past and present? x.x Gosh, it's been way too long.
