This topic has no purpose beyond sharing your personal desires for Twilight Princess. Try to be specific rather than vague. For example, don't say "fun mini-games." Instead, describe a mini-game you have in mind.

Horse stuff

Since Twilight Princess is aiming to better incorporate the horse into the gameplay, adding many horseback related ideas is only natural.

-A full scale horse race:

Between six and ten rivals compete for various prizes. I could see a gambling element play into this as well (insider secrets--bribes--would make a good backstory). An obstacle course (with archery included) would make another fine addition.

-Overcoming obstacles via horse:

Stuff like jumping across vallies, over gates, using your horse as a stepping stone to reach new heights, or using a hog to knock down barriers. I also like the idea of either guiding or controlling your horse to help you overcome puzzles with a horse whistle.

-Horse status:

Improve your companion's speed and stamina throughout the game. This could happen automatically, or through some sort of sidequest or item.

-Calling your horse:

I really hope we're not going to have to find special grass everytime we want to summon our horse. Building on the idea from earlier, I think we should be able to acquire a horse whistle. It could be used on the fly by pressing up on the Dpad. Your horse would come to you immediately.

-Gaebora Kaepora:

Nobody likes the owl. I do, but he does have an undeniably bad reputation. That would change if I were in charge of development. Near the end of the game, I'd like our wise friend to make a suprise appearance--not to lecture you, but to offer you flight--anytime you want it, in real time, and completely under your control. I imagine flying across Hyrule field, opening up new areas (even in places you've already been), combat in the sky, a sky Temple where you use him to throughout the dungeon ect. If handled correctly, the sky would be the limit.

Items:

-Lantern:

We know the lantern is in. But what all can it do? Not much it would seem. I would like to be able to Light torches (via context sensitive A button) and burn things at the very least. I'd also like to be able to upgrade to a lantern that does not require oil.

-Bow:

The aiming sensitivity needs to be much better. It wasn't great in OoT/MM, but it absolutely sucked in WW. For archery to play a more prominent role (and I would like it to) in the game, the aiming needs to be much better. The reload speed seems to be much more realistic in TP, and I think that is good. A shooting gallery is also a must.

-Bombs:

I would like to see a string comming from the bomb that would help you know exactly when it will explode. Beyond being practical, I think it'd be a nice graphical detail. Bombachus and especially Powder Kegs also need to make a return.

-Fishing Rod:

I hope it is an item that you keep with you and can be used anywhere. Catching fish offers all kinds of sidequest opportunities. I also like the idea of earning rupees through tasks rather than just finding them--not to say we couldn't still find them that way. Another utility-esque item would be a shovel--not an item necessary to beating the game, but one that offers new possibilities.

-Lens of Truth:

Gotta comeback. They can enhance it somehow, but it has got to come back.

-Flippers, Winged Boots:

Flippers will offer Zoraesque swimming without having to actually turn into a Zora. Winged boots would increase your running speed (which has a number of uses) and allow you to hover. The hover boots in OoT were simultaneously cool and lame. I think the effect should be a little greater. I also very much like the idea of using Dpad down to switch footwear on the fly.

-Cape:

Replaces the Deku Leaf. Not to be worn, but used like a parachute. On the ground, can be used to create gusts of wind or reflect magic attacks.

-Tunics:

Everyone likes tunics. They don't necessarily have to be the same tunics from OoT, and even if they are, then they need to be completely redesigned. 2 or 3 special tunics will do her.

Miscellaneous Crap

-Classic Areas:

I know some people would hate this idea. But I do think there should be a totally revamped Kakariko Village, Lake Hylia, Lost Woods, and Hyrule Market. This is Hyrule after all and the nostalgia this would incite in older players would be almost unbearable.

Now, I'm definitely not suggesting these be the only areas. Who says there can't be more than one forest, mountain, town, or lake? I want a game that is more expansive than that!

-Unique designs for all races:

I actually like the chances of this. Wind Waker featured it after all. Basically what I'm saying is, the Gorons shouldn't all look the same, nor should the Zoras or any other race.

-Races:

Gorons, Zoras, Kokiris, Dekus, Hylians, Gerudo, and one, maybe two new ones. I'd like to see a conflict between the Dekus and Kokiris. That'd be interesting. As for a new race, I think an inuit/arctic type is an obvious choice.

-An epic, Shadow of the Colossus(esque) battle in the middle of Hyrule Field:

Huge monster. You're on your horse enclosed by a ring of fire. Good stuff. Maybe you could even call in the owl for assistance? Speaking of bosses:

-Bosses that play like bosses, not puzzles:

Here's the thing. The 3D Zelda bosses aren't hard. Figuring out how to beat them isn't even hard. So how about some bosses that are aggresive, fast, and can deal out some damage? How about bosses that don't go down after a few hits? How about bosses that don't have ridiculously predictable attack patterns? Also, bring back the idea of collecting their remains (ala MM). This way, we can refight them to our heart's content.

-Geographic differentiation:

Different parts of Hyrule field should look different. The terrain should gradually become more rocky as you approach the valley. The far north and south should gradually introduce greener grasses before turning to snow. Together with a lot of great locations to explore, a dynamic weather system, and an impressive scale, TP should aim to create a truly believable (yet unbelievable) overworld unlike anything we've ever seen.

-Dungeons that don't earn you anything:

In Zelda, there is always a reason to go to a dungeon. How about a dungeon where the sole purpose of completing it is to get to the other side?. On a similar note, these "random" holes have to be dropped, or significantly reduced. Instead, let us see small caves or like the 2D games.

Oh God. There's just so much more. But I'll cut it here for now. Now let's see some of your ideas.
Dragon Brigade
*ahem* I’ll try and make this post intelligent. Sorry ahead of time for any grammatical errors and/or unclear thoughts. I do not know much about TP except that you ride a horse and Link can change into a wolf, so I might say stuff that’s already been established.

Horse race: I think it would be fun to have one. (I know you said this) Horse races against others would be great. Like the boat races from WW, (yeah, okay, some of you didn’t like that game) it can help with your horse riding skills. If they add obstacles and such to add variety, like maybe going through a forest or something (just an idea, maybe not necessarily that) because then you’d have to avoid trampling wildlife and maybe a few logs/misc. junk here and there to jump over, then it would be fun IMO. And if you win, you could advance to a harder course and have it keep getting harder and harder. The prize could be rupies, I guess, or an item the first time you beat it.

Calling the horse: I think I would go with an idea of calling the horse like in Shadow of the Colossus. Just call out the horse’s name and it will come to you. A flute or a whistle might be good too. If (like you said) you had to find a certain place to be in order to call your horse, that would get annoying.

Horse in general: I think you shouldn’t be able to take your horse through water. Maybe shallow stuff , but have the horse be shy of water in general. ESPECIALLY: Have the horse get tired! If you had a horse and it ran 24/7 that would be...amazing, to say the least. I think you should have to stop after a period of time and either rest or walk it the rest/part of the way.

Items:

SEEDS!! I loved the seeds from the Oracle of Seasons/Ages games. I think it would be nice if they added those again. And the canes... I love those things.

I think the deku leaf from WW might be good too. (My Zelda vocabulary is limited to four of the games). Either have that or the capes. I always liked being able to jump and then fly for excessive lengths over tiny holes. If they have the cape, it’d be nice if you could actually do fancy moves with it. Like in Four Swords: Jump with the cape and then thrust your sword down into the ground.

Mini-games:

Arrows: I loved those arrow mini-games where you had to shoot the targets. I had craptastic aim, but they were addicting. I think it would be nice if you had one for the horse, too, where you go around and shoot targets. I agree with you on the arrow aim stuff though... WW was less than desirable.. I hope they make it better this game.

I also loved those games from Oracle of Ages where you had a ball shot at you and then you had to hit it with your sword at the targets. Those were addicting too^^ I would like for them to include that one.......

Fishing/Hunting: I have never played a Zelda game with fishing, but the idea intrigues me (since you mentioned it, I’m sure it’s in one...I guess. I haven’t played any of the older ones). Maybe they could have that game be the one you need to do to feed your horse. I dunno of any horse eating fish, but maybe give it...grass. Maybe make you do a mini-game when you need to feed your horse so that you can have fun in the process of feeding your horse, instead of, say, dumping some red potion on it and, POOF, it’s all better.
Random-

Bosses: Yes, it would be nice to have a boss that can actually think on its own, and not do the-same-thing-over-and-over-again. Maybe make you use any items you have instead of mainly the one you got in the specific dungeon and the boss actually be able to evade attacks. I wouldn’t mind if the battles were extended that way, because then I’d be fully active and fighting for my life, instead of sitting in a corner waiting it to finish waving its head in the air before shooting it in the head again.

Places to travel: I know he goes into the Twilight world or whatever as a wolf, but I think it would be nice to visit the Zora’s underwater dwelling, too. I don’t know if that would even fit in with the game, but I always liked the Zora’s so I think they should include them.

I would also like the dungeons to be more difficult. They were sometimes time consuming, but never really challanging in my opinion. Besides, I like figuring out puzzles and it would be nice if you had to include using the horse. Naturally, if that were the case, you would probably be outside. Maybe make a dungeon be a forest that you have to get through just for the sake of continuing, not for some special treasure and whatnot.

-Mr. Wonderful, sorry for not really adding new thoughts, but for some of yours I disagreed with so I put my own ideas... There are a lot of others, but these (at the moment) are the main ones for me. Hope that’s fine. And your post is the longest and in-depth post I’ve ever read on this forum other than those contained in the Writing and Literature section( I mean this in the good way, not to be insulting). Way to go^^
Mr. Wonderful
Pretty good ideas.
