This topic has no purpose beyond sharing your personal desires for Twilight Princess. Try to be specific rather than vague. For example, don't say "fun mini-games." Instead, describe a mini-game you have in mind.
Horse stuff
Since Twilight Princess is aiming to better incorporate the horse into the gameplay, adding many horseback related ideas is only natural.
-A full scale horse race:
Between six and ten rivals compete for various prizes. I could see a gambling element play into this as well (insider secrets--bribes--would make a good backstory). An obstacle course (with archery included) would make another fine addition.
-Overcoming obstacles via horse:
Stuff like jumping across vallies, over gates, using your horse as a stepping stone to reach new heights, or using a hog to knock down barriers. I also like the idea of either guiding or controlling your horse to help you overcome puzzles with a horse whistle.
-Horse status:
Improve your companion's speed and stamina throughout the game. This could happen automatically, or through some sort of sidequest or item.
-Calling your horse:
I really hope we're not going to have to find special grass everytime we want to summon our horse. Building on the idea from earlier, I think we should be able to acquire a horse whistle. It could be used on the fly by pressing up on the Dpad. Your horse would come to you immediately.
-Gaebora Kaepora:
Nobody likes the owl. I do, but he does have an undeniably bad reputation. That would change if I were in charge of development. Near the end of the game, I'd like our wise friend to make a suprise appearance--not to lecture you, but to offer you flight--anytime you want it, in real time, and completely under your control. I imagine flying across Hyrule field, opening up new areas (even in places you've already been), combat in the sky, a sky Temple where you use him to throughout the dungeon ect. If handled correctly, the sky would be the limit.
Items:
-Lantern:
We know the lantern is in. But what all can it do? Not much it would seem. I would like to be able to Light torches (via context sensitive A button) and burn things at the very least. I'd also like to be able to upgrade to a lantern that does not require oil.
-Bow:
The aiming sensitivity needs to be much better. It wasn't great in OoT/MM, but it absolutely sucked in WW. For archery to play a more prominent role (and I would like it to) in the game, the aiming needs to be much better. The reload speed seems to be much more realistic in TP, and I think that is good. A shooting gallery is also a must.
-Bombs:
I would like to see a string comming from the bomb that would help you know exactly when it will explode. Beyond being practical, I think it'd be a nice graphical detail. Bombachus and especially Powder Kegs also need to make a return.
-Fishing Rod:
I hope it is an item that you keep with you and can be used anywhere. Catching fish offers all kinds of sidequest opportunities. I also like the idea of earning rupees through tasks rather than just finding them--not to say we couldn't still find them that way. Another utility-esque item would be a shovel--not an item necessary to beating the game, but one that offers new possibilities.
-Lens of Truth:
Gotta comeback. They can enhance it somehow, but it has got to come back.
-Flippers, Winged Boots:
Flippers will offer Zoraesque swimming without having to actually turn into a Zora. Winged boots would increase your running speed (which has a number of uses) and allow you to hover. The hover boots in OoT were simultaneously cool and lame. I think the effect should be a little greater. I also very much like the idea of using Dpad down to switch footwear on the fly.
-Cape:
Replaces the Deku Leaf. Not to be worn, but used like a parachute. On the ground, can be used to create gusts of wind or reflect magic attacks.
-Tunics:
Everyone likes tunics. They don't necessarily have to be the same tunics from OoT, and even if they are, then they need to be completely redesigned. 2 or 3 special tunics will do her.
Miscellaneous Crap
-Classic Areas:
I know some people would hate this idea. But I do think there should be a totally revamped Kakariko Village, Lake Hylia, Lost Woods, and Hyrule Market. This is Hyrule after all and the nostalgia this would incite in older players would be almost unbearable.
Now, I'm definitely not suggesting these be the only areas. Who says there can't be more than one forest, mountain, town, or lake? I want a game that is more expansive than that!
-Unique designs for all races:
I actually like the chances of this. Wind Waker featured it after all. Basically what I'm saying is, the Gorons shouldn't all look the same, nor should the Zoras or any other race.
-Races:
Gorons, Zoras, Kokiris, Dekus, Hylians, Gerudo, and one, maybe two new ones. I'd like to see a conflict between the Dekus and Kokiris. That'd be interesting. As for a new race, I think an inuit/arctic type is an obvious choice.
-An epic, Shadow of the Colossus(esque) battle in the middle of Hyrule Field:
Huge monster. You're on your horse enclosed by a ring of fire. Good stuff. Maybe you could even call in the owl for assistance? Speaking of bosses:
-Bosses that play like bosses, not puzzles:
Here's the thing. The 3D Zelda bosses aren't hard. Figuring out how to beat them isn't even hard. So how about some bosses that are aggresive, fast, and can deal out some damage? How about bosses that don't go down after a few hits? How about bosses that don't have ridiculously predictable attack patterns? Also, bring back the idea of collecting their remains (ala MM). This way, we can refight them to our heart's content.
-Geographic differentiation:
Different parts of Hyrule field should look different. The terrain should gradually become more rocky as you approach the valley. The far north and south should gradually introduce greener grasses before turning to snow. Together with a lot of great locations to explore, a dynamic weather system, and an impressive scale, TP should aim to create a truly believable (yet unbelievable) overworld unlike anything we've ever seen.
-Dungeons that don't earn you anything:
In Zelda, there is always a reason to go to a dungeon. How about a dungeon where the sole purpose of completing it is to get to the other side?. On a similar note, these "random" holes have to be dropped, or significantly reduced. Instead, let us see small caves or like the 2D games.
Oh God. There's just so much more. But I'll cut it here for now. Now let's see some of your ideas.
