I'm jus' at wow here. Seriously. This is excellent news for me. The price is what I expected it to be. $250 isn't nothing. (at least to me.) The only thing I think I really hate is the date. It's so far off! I was expecting to get this asap. (I was hoping for a Oct release.)

And Hero, yeah, you're forgetting to add what games are coming out at the launch!! =P
Another thing, I'd like to say is the WiiConnect24 sounds sexy as hell. I'm gonna be all over that! <~~~ Very excited. Wii.

I am just going to go ahead an quote myself from the other topic

QUOTE (Razael @ Sep 14 2006, 06:25 AM) *
I am happy, its 250 and it offers everything to get going from the get go. Wiimote, nunchuck, AC adapter, A/V cable, sensor bar, sensor bard stand, stand and two batteries. Plus it comes with Wii Sports so that means one more game besides the five I am going to buy, provided third party also stays on the 50 bucks line. Thats 500 bucks for my wii, i am going to threat myself this holiday season.

Honestly a lower price would turn me off, i dont know why, it would benefit my economy incredibly. If it had gone for 200 that would have meant another game but for some reason i think it would have been way too damn cheap.

You know what, scratch that, the dreamcast went for 199 on release and it was beautiful, but its only 50 bucks more, compared to the 3sucky's 400 or the ps3 mortage program this is awesome.

EDIT: I forgot, make tthat $520(plus tax) for now (there is no word on the price of the flash memories) because I need a classic controller too. Also, they should release the nunchuck for 20 instead of 40. I dont see me buying another one besides the one included but other people do and it shouldnt be that expensive.
The Hero of Time
The points thing is pretty cool. I like how it works with Xbox Live, and it means you dont have to use a credit/debit card, just pick up a card from a shop.

Plus, you spend more money when it seems fake. =D

I think the pricing is a bit high though for the VC games. To me these prices put them out of the impulse range, particulary SNES and N64. Too high a price for a non gamer who has no idea what these games are. At $2 a pop they might have checked them out. I dunno. blink.gif

But I love the interface; very Mac like. The whole channel thing is very clever, making it seem like an additional unit to have next to your cable, dvd player, etc etc. Something that has something for everyone. laugh.gif

You should all check out these videos of the interface: (flash required)

Clicky. Smexy.

Especially the photo browser.

Here are a few images:

Wii Dashboard (Home Screen)

It looks like you can place links to channels, VC games, or software whever you please. In motion, the "tiles" are all animated, for example, VC games animate between the game logo and the console logo (NES/SNES/N64).

Mii Channel - Mii's can be stored directly to the Wii remote.

Photo Channel - View, share, and edit pictures.

Weather Channel

The whole thing animates really nicely, and smoothly, it definatly reminds of how macs animate. The Wii Remote is used to control everything.
ValhartX
Boxarts (somewhat.) Of Zelda and Excite Truck! Have you seen these Hero? Not too bad, right? I expect a bit more when it's closer to release.
The Hero of Time
Sweet. I much prefer that to the mock up boxart seen before.

The Zelda cover is love; always with the gold. Nice find. =]
Hmm I wonder if the Cube version will have the same art.
ValhartX
Hero, check IGN. They have a list of games.x New ones!
I'm interested in one from Namco Bandai. It's called Sword of Legendia. I heard that before. And also seems like there is a lot of stuff coming from Konami. One might be Castlevania and one is an RPG..

From Matt C.

Guys,

I'll have an update coming. But just a quick heads-up: Retro has proved the potential of the Wii-mote with Metroid Prime 3. The developer added a third control mode, expert (this is not normal or advanced, but all-new) and it simulates PC FPS controls to 90 percent accuracy. I was FLYING around levels with ease.

BTW -- We'll have footage so you can see for yourself soon. The game looks mad hot.

Matt

Awesome I can prolly play this without gettin' sick!
The Hero of Time
Yah I saw that, like...101 games altogether now? lol, that's a hella lot.

lol, did you read Matts blog he had a while back about the FPS control in MP3? He said it sucked, basically, so something awesome must have happened to make him happy.

Surely everyone can find a game in that list that intreegs them?. ;D

The Hero of Time
Another update -

DVD playback removed, liscencing would have pushed up the cost of the console.

The Wii has region lock functionality, but it's up to 3rd parties if they want to use it or not. All 1st and 2nd party games will be region free. Woot!
Razael
I think there is a mistake on the games list update Liam, I dont think Atlus is making that DBZ game, they make Trauma Center if i am not wrong.

I am liking the new box art, didnt had a problem with the previous one but this one looks attactive.
The Hero of Time
You're not wrong; the game is being made by Spike and published by Atari and the Namco Bandai Group.

I think the rest of the list is accurate though. biggrin.gif
Athrun
Very nice stuff.
I will probably get a Wii around the time of the GC version of Zelda.
The interface and all looks very nice and clean. The weather aand news functions are nice touches, but I dunno how often I'll use them. =p I usually check that online.

Only negative thing is indded what Lem said. The price of the VC games. Especially for N64, since I planned to add a few games that I already own.
Mr. Wonderful
As many of you may already know, Nintendo’s highly anticipated Wii event is nearly underway. Tonight, at around 8 o’clock EST, the Japanese event will have started. Many gaming sites are already in Japan waiting for this very event to begin. Its become quite clear that tonight we could very well know everything about the Nintendo Wii. Not just this, but many believe Nintendo will announce more information about the upcoming hit Twilight Princess. These next couple days will shed some much-needed light upon all of our speculations. Of course, nothing is a complete guarantee.

It’s a big night for Nintendo. Many people believe that all the Wii/TP information will be revealed right away at the Japan event, leaving nothing in the dark for the American/European ones. We’ll just have to wait and see. This thread is dedicated to the upcoming announcements within the next couple days…or hours. I, personally, cannot wait.

I’ll be watching this event as closely as I can. As soon as I find anything I’ll be sure to post it, and I encourage others to do the same. I thought it was more than appropriate to create a gathering place for all the upcoming information. With a little hope, we could very easily have some brand new videos, screenshots, news, information, and content in regards to Nintendo’s newest console. Oh, and don’t forget Twilight Princess.

And if you don't already know:

IGN

The Hylia

Nintendo's Official Site

1Up

These sites, along with plenty others I'm sure, should have the earliest information; most likely we'll some tonight. Keep an eye on them. Also, the front page will be updated with with content as soon it comes.

Now, Nintendo. Let’s see what you got.

Man, imma be owned when the Wii comes. =P
I gotta get the Zelda at launch. (Even though it's for right-handed people.) I know.. GC version is for lefty's.. There is the classic controller. Red Steel. Excite Truck. And many more. I think most of my cash/points will go on to the VC games. =PP

Ah, I jus' seen that.. You guys ain't happy with the pricing of the VC? I don't mind for some reason.. lol. I'm thinking that most of the games that stayed in Japan will actually have a chance of coming here. Mana 3 and so on. Square actually announced it was on the VC.. So we should see games that never came here. =D
Razael
I am just going to use the VC for a couple N64 and Genesis games due to being already able to play practically almost every single NES and SNES game through my...old consoles?

Anyway, one think we havent discussed is size

Gamespot's launch center says:
QUOTE
Size: About 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than two inches thick (157mm x 215.4mm x 44mm).

Link: http://www.gamespot.com/events/wiilaunch/s...tml?sid=6157685

As i read this I quickly looked for a ruler. Like it was previously stated, the console will be as thick as a couple dvd cases stacked on top of each other. Since they say thats less than two inches, i took this into consideration and measured that three dvd cases go as thick as 1.5 inches and four cases is about 2 inches full. Its also as long as an average dvd case and just over an inch taller.

I did this measuring because I have a really sweet Sony DVD burner and the first time i saw the wii i was quickly reminded of it. So grabbing my ruler i did some spacial comparisons and saw that instead of beingt slightly bigger than my dvd burner is smaller making it probably the slickest damn console I will ever get my hands on.

Last console to combine slick design and small size was the dreamcast but this one looks better than my dear DC.

Sucks that they dropped the dvd thingy and the in console memory is quite limiting but yay for sd cards, i was already planing on getting a couple either way, i'll be waiting for the compatible cards list.
