Koei has announced at the recent Japanese Wii Conference that Dynasty Warriors will be making an appearance on the Wii at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
Sounds good to me. That game will probably work nicely with the wiimote, not to mention a possible online feature.
Though I guess the Wii might not be powerful enough to support the kind of online experience most DW fans have been waiting for. Still, being able to perform more in dept and specific attacks sounds interesting.

Hmm I dunno, if a 5 year old PC can play WoW, the biggest online game like, everrrz, why couldnt the Wii? Though, how would online work in DW? I never played them so I dunno how the mechanic works; as far as I can tell its a hack and slash with thousands of enemies?
Like I say, I never played any of these games, so it doesnt excite me, but, it's nice to see the big brands bringing thier biggest titles to the Wii.

Yeah it's basically that. Many DW fans have wanted to engage in all out battles against human opponents instead of CPU's. (DW uses more flashy special effects than WOW for most attacks.)
The game can lag when there's too much on the screen even with CPU opponents, so if the screen is full of human players and all using special attacks, I can see that causing a problem on Wii. Don't even know if it'll work well on PS3 and X360. We'll see.

Oh right, you're talking about replacing every CPU enemy with a human?
I think every player would need an uber PC to do that.

Well, with a decent frame rate and lots of effects liek you say...
Hmmm, would that even work though? I'm guessing in DW isnt as intricate as say...DMC or Ninja Gaiden? It would just be a button mashing thromp and random whomever survives

Nah it's not very comparable to DMC and Ninja Gaiden. It's more like 99 Nights.
Basically it's a story driven game about the three biggest Dynasties of the feaudal Chinese era. Shu Wu and Wei. Each/most characters are reality based, (though exagerated) and many of them have changed their loyalties between these three Dynasty/Families several times.
Usually on each mission the terreign is pretty important. Besides hack and slash there's strategy involved. Taking certain areas and defeating certain commanders/troops can rise/lower the morale of other troops. In which case theire stats change, and can cause retreat or even defection to/from your team. (Spreading false rumors can also cause that.)
It would be interesting to have real human players behind these things. Strategy, loyalty and faith towards your own side, and most of all pose a greater resitance than CPU characters do.
Being a grunt and charging out in battle with hundreds of (human) opponents coming at me, seems just as fun as being a horseback general, who can plow through them in seconds, or a commander for that matter. Since everyone pretty much starts at the bottom, you have to work your way up. Not just your level, but your reputation as well.
Defections and ambushes would be so much more interesting with real platyers involved.

Thats a pic from Samurai Warriors, Asuran.. I don't know how this online thing will work..but.. x_x We shall see indeed.. Maybe Super customizable(sp?) characters! I'm not too thrilled, being the DW fanboy that I am.

I used DW5 for stress relieve. I hadnt played one of the games before and didnt know how they played but one day i was getting Viewtiful Joe 2 and I saw the game and bought it. It gets uh.....boring as ##### eventually but it did help me go through some tough days by just picking one dude and unleashing hell on a bunch of retarded AI controlled enemies. I like riding horses in the game, you can run over enemies and/or slash them.
On DW wii, well DW didnt made me a fan and according to impressions and reviews i read after getting the game, every new version is pretty much the same game. So, pass.

Replacing the thousands of CPU's with humans would be impossible, but there are ways an online version could be done. It's pretty simple actually. Just limit the number of generals an army can have, and only those general slots could be controlled by human players. The rest would be your own custom-built army of CPU's. And using that system you could face off against other players' armies in 2-way or 3-way wars, utlizing your own strategies or whatever to take out the enemy army first. It wouldn't be too difficult to do with Wii if their online service is made well. And seeing as how PS2 ran split-screen DW just fine with some occasional minor lag, I'm fairly sure Wii could power the game engine online just fine.QUOTE (Athrun @ Sep 15 2006, 02:50 PM)

Well ever since 5, the combo systems have improved a lot. Playing as Zhou Yun busting out those badass aerial combo's felt very similar to kicking ass as Dante in DMC.

Yeah thousands would be impossible, but a few hundreds might work maybe. I'd like for generals to have real human controlled soldiers. Perhaps a mix of human and CPU would work?

Though Dante's game isn't like the Dynasty Warriors world. There are many games where the characters you control can pull off similar moves, but the games are different.

Yeah dude, whats this Dynasty Warriors business? That clearly looks like Samurai Warriors to me, which is based off of the warring states era in japan.

Wrong picture perhaps? He never said that was an actual screenshot for the Wii game.

It seems the picture was right, but the article misspelled the name.
It's actually Samurai Warrirors Wave.
Here are some new screen shots.
Apparently it is played from a First Person perspective.

A first-person hack & slash? And with the SW/DW type of game engine...? I'm kinda iffy on that. I guess it could be interesting with Wii's remote, but I'm sorta skepticle on it turning out right.

I love Samurai Warriors, but the first person thing... sorta turns me off of it. Those kinds of games make me extrememly motion sick, but maybe if they allow you to change the view to your character...
I dunno, I think it would be fun to play it online. I'm tired of playing with my brother, who cheats all the time x.x
