Well I'm sure I'm the only dreamer here who has so far bothered to go out to theaters to see a film that is actually being received well critically. Whether it's just PC to see the wrongs of our current government or the people over at TIME actually got a sense of humor is something we'll never know... Either way Borat serves loads of laughs as well as plenty to think about as Borat tours our fine country.
It's a really amazing piece of work, yet at the same time it really falls short of its goal. The films length doesn't allow for Borat to go into any bigger scenes, in fact it just seems like Sacha Baron Cohen made an extended episode of Borat that he features on " Da Ali G Show ". I was really loving the direction of the film and all the points it made about our society while not being too preachy. It exposes how many idiots and creeps there are in our wonderful country as well as many skewed views that americans have these days. At one point in the film Borat is at a rodeo speaking to the crowd in which he says" May George Bush drink the blood of the Iraqi's " to which we get a load roaring cheer from the american audience.
Anyway, there's plenty of satire, and political statements to be made in this film which may go over the head of the casual movie goer ( There were several college aged students who seemed to think the film sucked, probably because they missed the point and haven't even the slightest understanding of what was going on ) but at the same time there's plenty of toliet humor and other sick things in the movie to keep those with a twisted mind very entertained.
Cohen is amazing as any of his characters and as Borat you'd imagine that's who he is... You don't for a second think in this film that he's just a great character actor, you believe he's Borat.
There's lots of laughs, some great points to be made... If only it could have expanded a bit more on its ideas and length... We would have had a perfect film. 4/5 Corpses.

well this dreamer doesnt go to the movies as it is a waste of money for the most part. Yes there are movies to see in the theatres, LOTR, Harry Potter, stuff like that. But comedies and really most movies for that matter are much better suited to just save your money and rent/borrow. This movie does look really funny thought and I cant wait until it comes to dvd.

Well I wanted to see this one, but I'm not sure if I will for a while. But I definitely intend to see it, it's just a matter of when. Borat is my favorite character from Th Ali G Show. The dating service where he said "If she cheat, I will crush her" is still my favorite bit, but I expect to find a lot of new favorites from this movie.

So if it doesn't have a 300 million dollar budget it's not worth your time?

Uhh...wait, what?
I'd hardly call LoTR and Harry Potter pinnacles of Film.
Hell, I'd rather call them 1/4th the book.

As for this, I've sorta been in the passengers seat for the past few weeks (should change my location then!) So I really didn't hear anything about this movie until a couple days ago. :/

i was more or less talking about the epic feelings of the movies, more so for LOTR. But those movies and many really good action movies were very good to see on such a big screen. But to me a comedy is a waste of time to pay 8 bucks at the theatre to see. The big screen to me adds nothing to the movie when its just a comedy. Thats just me, I dont like paying for the theatre, because if the movie sucks thats 8 bucks, more if you took a date that you just wasted.
This is just me, Im just saying big action flicks = worth it mabye on the big screen, comedies = naw, better to just wait till u get it at home.

I went to see if i could watch The Prestige last Saturday and apparently there was some problem with the reel so no dice. Then I saw this Borat poster and i remembered about this movie coming out. It wasnt still on but once it is I will watch it, and the Prestige, and Saw III.
I think going to the movies is still worth it, you dont have to be a total nonconformist individual who thinks everything is crap, i find it that the joy of movie watching is not watching those movies you like but actually finding them between a bunch you might not like so much. I like the ride, I dont care if its a roller coaster or a non functioning tea cup.

I heard it was only around 84 minutes, so I passed on my friend invitation to go see it today since it wasn't a movie I was interested in nor did I feel like watching in the cinemas.
Other comedies I wouldn't mind seeing at the cinemas but something like Borat, I think I'll enjoy watching it more at home.
But yes, I do find Borat funny but I feel it's more of a homey movie, so I'll think about checking it out when it comes out on DVD or something.

This is my sister, she is 3rd most beautiful prostitute in all Kazakhstan!
I wont bother going to the cinema to see this one, probably go to the old torrentspy instead. But, that'sbecause I'm poor, not because I dont want to see this movie. I love Borat, I always thought he was the funniest character of the three (Borat, Ali G, and that gay nightcluber who I dont find even a little bit funny

)
Should supply a good giggle or two.

I will say Prestige I really want to see in theaters(huge Bale fan) but I will still prolly wait unless one of my friends wants to go since I cant drive right now. Saw III looks like a good see in the theaters too but i will again prolly wait. I just would rather watch most movies at home. I dont like dealing with lines or really people for that matter. At home I got my kitchen and bathroom super close and not as crowded

No worries TED, I saw this film in the theaters aswell. I found this film quite funny and it indeed showed that there are enough idiots walking around, I was quite surprised by most of these comments by people.
Cohen did a nice job at this film and it is better then his Ali G In Da House concept, which was funny but started to get boring rather easily.
I never had a dull moment in this film at all, the constant switching of scenes made it very enjoyable and I might go see it again, if I have the time.

I'd only seen bits of Borat's character on what little I saw of the MTV Awards, so i wasn't sure just how funny this film would be. But I really enjoyed it and was definately laughing throughout =).
Ali G was kinda whored here, and I found him quite funny but Borat is so much better imo. I can't believe he really did all those things in public, it was too funny! The reactions of people, and knowing they were all genuine just made it so much better. I will definately be buying this film.

The commercials were funny, but I'm not interested in paying money to see it. D: If I ever go to the movies, everyone wants to see horror films(I don't enjoy horry films, they are scawy.) But maybe my dads friend will have it on bootleg..

I'm watching it tomorrow (hopefully)... I've been wanting to see this movie ever since the trailer (I havn't laughed so hard at a trailer in a long time, if ever. And best of all, you know it isn't just a compilation of the few funny and best clips stuck together). People keep talking about it and hearing the jokes through a third party (especially when they try to put on the accent) ruins it. I'm too poor to go, but that won't stop me.

There's two ways I can read this, and I'm gonna go with the one that has me thinking that you're terrible at sarcasm.
Although if you're serious, you obviously didn't see the movie because you would have known america is getting all it deserves. When people cheer to " George Bush will drink the blood of the iraqi people " or " america will destroy iraq " at a public event then you know there's something a little wrong with that. He was simply pointing out a lot of problems that our society is experiencing lately and it's about time someone got them out there.
