So, I'm sure all of you are well aware of the new generation releases but have you noticed the little differences here and there and everywhere?
Not with the systems themselves but their conflicts with each other leading to this very moment.
I believe it was around the time of Squaresoft and Sony. The age of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid.
We went from taking these classics out of the palms of Nintendo to Sony's claws. These games that spawned from the much admired NES.
Nintendo made handhelds Sony took a quick backstab with the PSP. Then the DS was released to counter the new portable.
Now it comes down to the Wii and PS3.
What say you? I say that maybe it wasn't Sony who fired the first shot. But a mutual war.
Until then, only time can tell who will come out on top.

I think Sony will become the real life equivalent of Skynet, thats what I think, and Nintendo is Sarah Connor, Microsoft is sort of like...the actual terminators.
Until that happens I'll get myself both a wii and a ps3. And i think it was sony who made the first war move after Nintendo said No to the ap they were releasing in the 90s.

Nintendo's problem was that they follishly decided to stick with the cartridge system rather than CD ROM. So a lot of franchises left Nintendo. Videogaming grew even bigger than before, and became more mainstream thanks to PlayStation. And with such a strong brand name built, it's hard to break it down and change things. Unless people are unhappy with a system, they're not likely to give up on it.
Anyway, Wii's hardware prevents it from sharing many games with PS3 and X360, things will be different this time for Nintendo.
PS3 will probably have the biggest market again, but Wii might overcome Microsoft this time. They were very close last time, surprisingly. 22 million units for GC and 24 million units for Xbox.
I think Nintendo are taking the right approach though, in a way. Whether you like the Wii system or not, they're not going to fight Sony on their own game. They created their own market. That's why they'll succeed over Microsoft.

I don't think the PS3 will do too good. I don't know about you, but I don't want to shell out $600 for a system. I think the Wii will be great because to me the remote control to the Wii was like the Analog Stick to the Nintendo 64.

I think it's going to come down to Microsoft and the PS3, just like it did with the last generation of consoles. Some stupid 3D mouse isn't going to distract gamers from the fact that the Wii is a very lacking console just like the GC before it.

Lacking? What's lacking is real improvements from system to system. All I notice from PS3 and X-box is graphics. Graphics don't really matter to me. Good gameplay is what keeps me going back to the games. To me the Wii looks like the only one that really does that.

So you didn't think games had good gameplay before?
While the Wii's gameplay is innovative and may be fun, I wouldn't diss the gameplay that kept me into videogaming for the past 17 or so years now.
Wii's gameplay may be new, but it's not the only good way to play games all of a sudden.

No, the old gameplay rocked and always will rock, but this is something new!

the new wii controller is a sideshow gimic to distract people away from the harsh reality that their system is mediocore at best and really doesnt have a lot to offer gamewise, sorry bro. I mean the system will still beat out the crapbox i think because of all the little ones that will fawn over it, but dont mistake that for a good system

A game can rock with immersive gameplay and no pretty graphics. It doesn't work the other way around.
I'll admit the 'Cube couldn't match up to the PS2 because of it's repetoire of video games, but if you were to actually delve into the GCN's library you would fine plenty a worthwhile experience. Far more than the Xbox.

The controller is not a distraction for anything. Sure, Wii will be better than PS3 and the 360. With Mario, Zelda, Exite Truck, Wii Sports, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. What's PS3 got you (besides Final Fantasy), an empty wallet for another few months? And what about X-box 360. Halo rehash? The Wii is greater than you would ever admit!

Wow thats extreme fanboyism there you know. face it all the mario games are gonna suck (except for maybe 2) because they are always half made sports games (im just saying this because of past experience with them). I havent seen any new Metriod games and only one Zelda has been released up to date same thing with SSB. Ps3 does have other things other than Final Fantasy some which are quite promising, i could mention some. MGS4, Resistance fall of man, DMC4, Killzone, Gundam, and Assasin's Creed these are some games i can name off the top of my head. so the Ps3 quite possibly could be more then just an "empty wallet for a couple of months" and this is just a small library right now because the ps3 has just come out. same thing applies to the Wii, but most of the games they make for ps3 most likly wont be able to be transfered onto the Wii. (im kinda guessing now)

Seriously stop acting like a huge fanboy. Both systems have just been released, its too early to say which system is better. I say give both systems a year or so to decide which is better.

A year? You wait that long and all we're gonna have are more fanboys saying how great the PS4 or the next X-Box or Nintendo system is going to be.

Or the Dreamcast 2, Sega's comeback, a console you'll control with your mind, aka Super Duper Ultra Japanese Sword.

Sorry for being such a Nintendo fanboy. I didn't mean the PS3 is gonna have nothing. I guess I got a little carried away. Sorry!
Anyway, I just get mad when everyone says Nintendo makes bad systems. That's not true. You say most Mario games are bad. But Mario is a classic, man. Zelda and Smash Bros, too.
By the way, I have a PS2 and a Genesis and a Game Gear, so I'm not all Nintendo...

He meant most Mario games as in the Mario spin off games, like Basketball, Baseball, Snowboard and whatnot. There aren't that many traditional or classic Mario games these days compared to the spin offs.
And be as supportive or fanboyish for a console you want. It's not a crime.
As for waiting a year, the thing about PS3 is that we already know what we can expect to see on it. A lot of it's old franchises. It's more for the Wii that we have to wait and see how things turn out. They obviously need more than what they had for the GC, and frankly we really don't know what's coming for the Wii in the future from third party developers yet.

PS3 for Sony, is what I think will win.
The PS2 had many great first-party franchises. Series such as Jak and Daxter, Grand Turismo, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal, etc. are only (currently) for Sony consoles. There were also many third-party developers that were dedicated to the PS2. That we will see on this PS3 system, that made PS2 successful. I haven't even delged into the massive compiled RPG fanbase Sony has on there hands.

First and formost Mario is quickly loosing it's appeal. Nintendo has milked the series so much, it's not funny. The originality that Mario once had is all gone, it's sad really. The Mario party games all suck, compared to the original gameplay design.
For starters SSB isn't a Mario game, it's a Nintendo party bash up if you will. It doesn't even have the finese like a Mario game. It's a different genre, then just adventure, it's in the fighting genre.

You're right, I should be myself, an extreme Nintendo fanboy!
I have been playing Nintendo since I was 3...
And about that, new nintendo games are, in my opinion, are as good as the old ones.
As for the best system game poll...
ZELDA'S WINNING! HA HA, THE WII ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
