I just beat suikoden III and let me say this game is unbelievable!! I thought the second game was great and this one put it to shame. If anyone here has never played this game, go the store and buy it immediately.
Anyway, the reason I posted this was because I didnt like suikoden IV at all, and I am wondering if i should buy suikoden V. Ive heard better things about it, but if its the same boring battle system as IV, I dont think its worth the money. What did u guys think of it?
Voyou San
suikoden III in my eyes is the greatest of a great series. IV was a disappointment but it was still a solid play through. V is nothing like IV and really gets back to what made the series a success and you should def. pick it up, you wont be disappointed
Pesmerga
Suikoden II tops Suikoden III anyday imo and Suikoden V comes to a second spot. Third will be Suikoden I for me and then I get Suikoden III.

You should definatly get Suikoden V, cause the game does an amazing job, around 80 hour gameplay, nice characters, much better gameplay then in Suikoden IV, battle system wise, again good music and just a avery good story.

Hmm... Suikoden III is a rival for my favorite game ever. Suikoden V is very close to it, the characters were done very well, but I think III definitely takes the cake

Suikoden III opened SO many doors in the series, continued so many plotlines and characters, and introduced so many runes, and great characters. I think the Suik III chracters were better than the Suik V ones. The music was equal in both i'd say, maybe a lil more on the side of V.

Overall, Suik III is one of the best RPGs around, I havent played II, but from what I've heard its probably the best RPG around. Thats right, I said it. I haven't played it myself, and I'm not sure what the gameplay is like, but it has the most intricate storyline of ANY game, with hundreds upon hundreds of characters, and because they're all sequels and prequels along the same timeline it makes each game much more in depth than any other RPG series

IMO

lol happy.gif

what other game can u say you played it from 3 different perspectives, well really 5 but only 3 that were lengthy.. I mean no other game has that and suiko III did, and thats what made it so great. Well everything made it great, stories, characters, music, battles, you name it and it did it very well. II was a great game, dont get me wrong, but III in my opinion is a far superior game
Vilagen
I've already said it before, but I can't understand why so many fans had problems with the game. I understand that the battle system was a step down, but the storyline was very good, detailed and made sense. And I thought that the Trinity Site was done very well, it connected the events and story wonderfully.

I personally favor II over it, but I like the game none the less and think it's great.

Actually it is only now I appreciate Suikoden III after reading the Suikoden III Manga. Many enigmatic scene came to clear and thus appreciation came upon me.

Still Suikoden II is the best!!! Woohoo!!!

the manga is greatness smile.gif

I don't know about 'greatest' but it is easily the second longest Suikoden in the series and with a great storyline. There's not much else to say about it. The Trinity Sight system was stupid and Yuber was a God modded villain - those were the only two things I didn't like about the game.

What's the beef with you people dissing four Its my favorite game, leave it alone, even though I haven't played three you all can't just dislike 4. pissed.gif
zebulum5
I have only played suikoden III and IV but I think out of the two of them suikoden III was way better. There was more to do and you could get more involved in the story line. It was also a lot longer then suikoden IV. IV was a good game but I think you should try III before you get all angry.
silver
i'm going to play it after I play ff12, but nobody should give such bad insults to 4, but whatever your entitled to your opion sorry for getting pissed.
Valince
I'd love to know why you think the worst Suikoden in the series doesn't need bad insults.

Really~~enlighten me here.

I'll right It was my first suikoden game, second it has my favorite home base, third it has chippo, the cat man. any thing else.
Valince
Well that explains it.

I never played Suikoden IV. I wanted to buy it, but then I thought, no - no thanks. Thing is All suikoden's including V are heavily measured against Suikoden II. And there is good reason for that. IV is quite possible the worst because it did everything *wrong* in comparison with Suikoden II. You get used to it at some point.

Haha, Chiepoo was one of my favorites aswell, but that is because a) He is a cat and cool.gif I like his voice. Apart from that, he was not really good in battle.

off topic but IV was easy to diss.. it was easily the worst suikoden game of the series.. only 4 people in your party, the story was poorly done, most characters were poorly done.. the only redeeming things were really the boat castle and the ship battles..I mean it was still a solid play through if your a suiko fan but thats it but that is off topic.. Suiko III FTW

Suikoden III = great.
Suikoden II = greatest.

I think that sums up my thoughts. Suikoden 3 is a great game, but Sui 2 is still the best in the series IMO. I haven't played Sui 5 yet though.
Hikusaak
Suikoden V is a great game. I feel as thought it was based more as fanservice to those who loved II, but that's just my opinion.

Speaking of said opinion, Suikoden III has my nod for the Greatest in the series. Followed closely by SV, and SII.
Twilight Guardian
hm...well I've only played the first 3...I have tactics and IV waiting, but as always, there are other games to play with higher priority. My favorite is going to have to be II. It was the first game that actually made me laugh out loud(that was during the time nanami was threatening the guards with her "something something something something something something glory punch" it has a great soundtrack as well. and the characters, and the world....hehe, everything about it is great. III really is a close second, but just didn't have the same charm as II did
Pesmerga
As was to be expected, most people prefer Suikoden II, followed by either Suikoden V, I or III, that just matters on taste.
I prefer II and than Suikoden V.
LagunaWannabe
Well, I've only played 3 4 and 5.. BUT, I've read the Game Scripts for Suikoden 1 and 2, and I have to say, Suikoden 1 and 2 were WAY more complex in terms of storylines and dramatic sequences.

So, based on what MY personal favorite is, I'd have to say 3. Suikoden V comes close, but I like how Suikoden III continues the storyline of 1 and 2, that's basically my reason for choosing it.

BUT, I will not diss 1 or 2, if I actually played those, I'm sure Suikoden 2 would probably be my favorite, it really has a much better storyline than the other Suikodens, but I mean... THey're all basically good :-D haha
LunarMaster
Well I just beat Suikoden III today. Sad part it is I got the game when it launched. The start of the game was so boring that I had to put the game down until now. I own IV, Tactics, and V yet I refuse to play them out of order so hence forth my finishing of 3.

I missed the 2 extra plot lines on the wheel because I've been rushing through the game (I'm missing like 15 characters). I'm not really a big fan of the battle system and why is it that the characters look like they have a stick up their a$$es when they run. I think it's a good game, but it doesn't hold a candle to the first 2 games. Suikoden 1 was fantastic and part 2 took part 1 and added better graphics and more features, which equals greatness.

I haven't been hearing too many good things about part 4, but at least it seems that the game isn't as long as 3(which took me like 57 hours).

I have a quick question concerning 3- After I finished the game it didn't ask if I wanted to save ( I even added the file names from part 1 and 2 to 3). Does that mean that you don't upload it to part 4 or is it because I didn't do something in the game?
LagunaWannabe
I don't believe you can upload anything to 4... unfortunately

and i'm not sure why it took you 57 hours, I don't remember taking that long lol

I personally loved suikoden IV, I loved graphics, characters and then to seem again in Rhapsodia was more then fun. Personally, Suikoden IV was way better then three graphic wise, storyline wise and fun wise. Suikoden III had it's stuff that made me like it aswell. The warbattle was one of the best because you can actually train your charaters and it would be useful.

In the end though, I find myself liking the newest suikoden, so the best one I have to say is V.
Pesmerga
I prefer III over IV though. Not because I hate IV that much, although I do agree it is the worst out of the series, it is just that the story in III kept me entertained longer than IV.

My main issue was that when the game started you had a couple of events, a very slow start at that and then suddenly the game rushed towards the ending. Also Snow, the character that should do your talking, backstabbed you and was replaced by King Obel.
The duel system was great though and I am very happy they brought it back in Suikoden V.

The last POV character is very worth getting. You get to play as Luc, and see the story from his perspective. Very interesting, and it reveals more things from the plot that you weren't aware of.

And no, you can't transfer anything from 3 to 4. Suikoden 4 is very short though. It took me exactly 30 hours, and that includes doing everything, even getting the extra costumes, and all the characters. Suikoden 3 took me around 60 hours to complete in comparison.

Ah hell!! I hope thats not too far into the game, I hate spoilers without warning rolleyes.gif
Pesmerga
It is very soon in the game, so not really a spoiler. Plus I wasn't totally surprised when it happened if you see the events before.
Valince
Could easily be considered the 2nd longest in the series. With Suikoden V killing this game in total gameplay hours(really it should take atleast 70 hours to beat it. Took me about 85 >.<). But I don't know about greatest.

Ah ok thats cool smile.gif I only took a quick look at the game when it arrived in the post and saw Snowe in the begining with the main character and come to think of it he did come across as overly ambitious(but I may be wrong) so no worries.
Pesmerga
More talking about the events after that with Glenn, your commander.
Georg-the-Great
I'd love to play Suikoden III but for some stupid reason its not been released in England when all the others have.
