Which Final Fantasy would you say was the most challenging for you? Pretty much think about all the details and remember tough puzzles or enemies that would deem the game the most challenging.
I'll post my answer later when I have a little more time.

That's a tough one. So far probably Final Fantasy X. Though for me it will probably be Final Fantasy III when I get it. Possibly IV Advance as well. They are all old school games with tough bosses and long dungeons. So we will have to see.

Yeah this is a tough one, well I've only played VII - X-2 so I have to say 8, the junction system and levelling up, trying to keep all your characters up to scratch is so tedious! I had trouble defeating the last boss too, which wasn't the case with any of the others, so yeah I have to say 8.

You know I can't say I was ever all that challenged in any of the FF titles... It's kinda hard to have that happen when you can just over level your characters to overcome any adversity in just about all of the FF games.
Same goes for any RPG... But honestly I can't name one FF that I've ever struggled with. I haven't played X or X-2 ... But I doubt they're going to be any more difficult than any of the previous FF's.
Oh and I guess I haven't played the DS remake of 3, but I've played the rest... Including the FF advances.

No they're quite easy, you might wanna get 10 it does SOMETIMES give you a challenge as you have to be really patient to be THAT overlevelled for anything, and you could try no sphere-grid challenge for it to make it solid. As for X-2, don't buy it

I guess the only time I experienced a challenging part of a FF game was when a.) stealing the good items from the boss in FF9 before killing them, b.) killing the weapons in FF 7, and c.) doing the monster arena in FFX.
And the monster arena lasted a lot longer and was actually fun to do, mainly because most of the rest of the game lacked much of a challenge, so I guess it's FFX for me.

Most challenging well I dont think that any Rpg Games have any difficult battles in them the only challenging ff is FFXI because so many other people you play with suck at it so badly
The most challenging single player RPG though is probably a cross between Vagrant Story some of those puzzles were damn hard and I was allot younger then and its easy to get lost to where you are. Also Wild Arms 3 had some kind of challenging Puzzles

Stealing the Genji armor from the Marquis in FFT, lol. I made sure I got EVERYTHING he had.
FF12 is a little more challenging than the others, unless you level up quite a bit. I heard the end Boss is quite hard (my friend was lvl 55 when he fought him, mind you- But the book says anything over 45).
Some games have hard PARTS, but it doesn't make the games hard. Like FF8 for the end Boss. FF9 for Ozma... that\s about it. FF7 for the other 2 weapons (not Ultima

). Final Fantasy Tactics could be hard at times on certain bosses, if I could spell them I could tell you which ^_~.

True, I never really found any of them to be considerd hard games, I just thought some were a little harder then the others.
None. Unless you create silly challenges for yourself like people did with FFX and not using the sphere grind. If you played each game and stick with the story and didn't power level, because power leveling remove a challenge from most RPG, you should be able to defeat any Final Fantasy game.
If we're discussing puzzles of Final Fantasy games, then yet again, none of them weren't that hard. Off the top of my head, annoying puzzles were in a game like Lufia 2. World's Hardest Puzzle?
Overall, Final Fantasy games aren't difficult outside the few optional bosses, which most games have, but when talking about a challenge, I only address the main storyline battles and not the optional battles since they're optional.

Oh man, those things were horrible. I have never hated coloured blocks so much in my entire life.
Anyway, yeah, FF is pretty damn easy altogether. FFX is probably the easiest FF game i have ever played. I think that the games are that easy is because they are so mainstream so they dont provide enough challenge to complicate matters to the general population.
I think that for most challenging game position, i would pick Tactics because if you didnt prepare well you could get screwed pretty fast. I remember on my first playthrough i got stuck at the waterfall place with all the chocobos for about a week, thats when i started to despise chocobos and their goddamn meteors.

None of the Final Fantasy's are really hard for me. They just have challenging parts.
Like Emerald and Ruby weapon in FF7.
The Monster Arena in FFX, depending on which monster/creation you fight.
Etc, etc.

If its about normal playthroughs then I would say none of the games are that challenging, but if we go further along self-imposed challenges then FFT is for you with all those crazy Solo Character Challenge, Straight Character Challenge, Solo Straight Character Challenge and take into consideration how many jobs are there in the game so like yeah. =)

It's a tie between two...
Final Fantasy IV (hardtype) - This wasn't so much difficult, as long as you were levelled up to insane levels. By the end of the game everything becomes a challenge, and nothing gives you muh EXP >.<
Final Fantasy II - Well this is a mixed bad again, if you could cheat then it makes it a very easy game but without cheating this is VERY difficult indeed. Not only that but if you go the wrong way you get blasted with insanely hard monsters... but some of the time it's near impossible to tell where the right way is.
Final Fantasy VII - X-2 are some of the easiest RPGs I have ever encountered. They are fun but not challening.

hm...I can't say I've completed all final fantasies...but of those I've played, I have a difficult time with X...all those sidequests...some of them are quite challengeing...and V, there's so much to decide regarding classes...but I've had the most trouble with X...I remember trying to get that thing for tidus' sword in that chocobo race that you have to finish with a time of 00:00 or less. that is impossible! *gave up*

Alright, i've played every final fantasy except XI and XII, for the pure fact, i don't want XI, and i could borrow XII from my brother whenever.
I'd have to say, FF4 kicked my ass, this new FF3 isn't that hard, FF5 was a good idea, but sucked, Reminded me of FFT, but with 4 characters. FF6 wasn't the easiest in the world (DAMN YOU TERRA, YOU *****, HOW DID YOU DIE, AGAIN!?!??!?) FF7 had it's hard parts, not hard game, FF8 was fun, and always kept you on your feet. FF9.....Well, not much to say about FFcrap.erm FF9. FFX I liked it, not to hard, but turned out to be a very long game, if you wanted everything. FFX-2, well, lets say FF9 > FFX-2 and thats saying alot. FF1 great simple game, FF2, screw FF2, i sat there for the first part of the game, attacking me own people, to get my defense up, very boring.
In all, Hardest FF? I'd go 4 and 6. Seems like not many in this topic have played them, but nothing beats lock's steal, making soldiers go into their birthday suits.

Well, FFX-2 was annoying in trying to get the 100%, though the bosses not so much.
I think FFVI caused me the most trouble when I had to restart and try again several times. It was that part when you had to keep Banon alive while you get attacked by Ultros. "You scare me!" *hard whack on Banon* Me: much cursing. Took me four times to get through that.
For the most part, FF's are pretty easy battle-wise, otherwise how do I get through the main bosses being underlvled as I am.
FFXII has a slower learning curve I would say, but once you get a hang of the quickenings. It's not really that hard. Except for allowing to run into hard bosses unknowningly, which I did several times. I explore too much >>

I would say FFXII because I got stuck a few times because I would blow through the story and not take any time to level up and such.
I remember a particularly hard level in FFT being the battle against the Marquis on the roof, where he had two ridiculously powerful bodyguards, and you had to make sure that one girl (cant remember her name, the heaven knight or whatever) and it was only hard because it was so cheap, the enemy moved incredibly fast, so you had to act quickly, and it felt more based on luck than skill.

FFV.
Damn Neo Ex Death.
Or the Ex Death fight in the end of the second world.
FFIV's DemonWall pissed me off to no end.
