The Evil Dead
Well I haven't watched this movie for about a year or two at this point because I burned myself out on it when it was first released in theaters, and then on DVD. I was watching the USA network today out of sheer boredom and they happened to have it on ( Even though I have it on DVD... Too lazy to put it in I guess ) and it was a nice reminder of what a great Sci Fi film it is.

Unfortunately in this day and age they really don't make too many good sci fi films anymore... They're not in as big of a demand as they used to be say about 20 or 30 years ago after the Star Wars boom, and with fantasy making a huge splash these days we're stuck watching sword and sorcery instead of lasers and aliens.

It was really nice to see such an original and well done sci fi flick that really came out of nowhere... The movie is acted perfectly and I love all the characters in it. From Johns the bounty hunter to Riddick himself, there's nothing not to like about the cast of characters in the film. Everything is fast paced, the storyline doesn't suck, and even the monsters in the film are cool.

Plus Riddick is the ##### man in this movie. I really wish they wouldn't have screwed up so bad on the " sequel " to Pitch Black because the Riddick character had so much potential to be a really great and memorable movie character. I mean he still is, but I would have liked to see him in a sequel to better use the character.

So if you haven't seen this movie ( I'm quite sure just about everyone has by now ) and want a good sci fi flick, definitely pick it up... It doesn't dissapoint.

Anyone else enjoy it as much as I do?

Only to the fullest TED, I freaking loved that movie, too bad CoR was so bad, it really could have been a great series, have you seen the anime? I heard its pretty good, but I can't track it down, has anyone seen it?

I think what makes this movie as its not your normal horror film. Most horror films contain something that is either a real life fear and blow it so out of proportion that its rediculous (I mean eight legged freaks ok we all hate spiders but come on) or they make something like a monster that kills like 1000 people I mean if something like that existed we would all know about it wed notice people missing.

Pitch Black however plays on the simple fear of the dark which no matter who denies it everyone is a little afraid of the dark (and I'm not talking like I can't see well Dark I mean I cant see ##### dark)

Riddick puts in a fantastic performance as you said and I dont even like him that much as hes a really dry actor who should only be in B rate TV films.

But yeah totally I agree with you I really like that film to ^^

come on bro, CoR was not that bad, I mean it wasent a great way to go after such a great movie in pitch black but it was still a solid enough movie.

But Pitch Black was flat out awesome. Riddick was good in it and it was just a very good sci-fi movie. I remember though I hated it the first time I saw it, mabye it just wasent a good movie movie to watch with a date.

CoR was a terrible movie compared to original. People love the original more than sequal most of the time, but in this case, the sequel was just bad. Not sure how you can find CoR a good or even decent sequel to Pitch Black. Or even if it's a good movie.

Vin's movie got worse the more popular he became. It's a shame since Pitch Black was so good, but what can you do? I wasn't expecting another survival type film like Pitch Black, but I wasn't expecting a over the top action film that had a terrible theme.

You know, you have a point there Eva, I can't think of anything he has done lately that I have enjoyed. And yes Voyou, this movie sucked. Hard. You know it.
True Rune
I never watched the sequel, but I did see Pitch Black over Josh's house once, I was annoyed that you-know-who died at the end. D: I bet she isn't even mentioned in the second one. But yeah, I was moderately(lolspelling) entertained by it.

Did you know Vin Diesel was one of the main characters in Saving Private Ryan? (Well I didnt so ssshhh)

But anyway here is a full list of what he has been in, some of them quite funny like 'The Pacifier which is just lol

Exactly, bit of a sliding scale quality wise isn't there?

it was not as bad as yall say(talking about CoR)

and look at some of his other movies that were good.

Knockaround Guys, A Man Apart, Boiler Room, Saving Private Ryan and while xXx was pretty bad, it still atleast had some decent action and wasent near as terrible as the newer xXx.

CoR was terrible sequel to Pitch Black. As a stand alone movie, it's another cheesy action flick, but as sequel to a cool film like Pitch Black, it was miserable failure. The sequel had no reference to the original. They just brought back the characters from the original and expected that to cover it. Where were the cool killer aliens? Instead, we got some badly dressed villians trying to past as scary villians. The first one was sci-fi, this was just an action movie in outer space.

Saving Private Ryan about a three hour movie. Didn't Vin get whacked the first hour of the movie? He had a minor role in the film.

I "lol" at the The Pacifier.

Exactly, I thought he had a little more sense than that. As soon as I saw the first advert for it I know it would be terrible.
Hound
Yeah, this movie wasn't too bad. I liked Chronicles of Riddick just as much, and I am not even close to a Vin Diesel fan. Definitely wasn't a lame horror film, like MANY others.
The Evil Dead
I'd say it's more of a sci fi/thriller than a horror film... But whatever.

And it's definitely worlds above what Riddick was. I think you need to watch the film again because you'd see that Pitch Black smokes everything about Riddick... From the excellent and believeable cast performances to the character of Riddick himself. Plus Chronicles of Riddick didn't have freakin' Johns dude. Cole Hauser is every bit as badass as Diesel was in the film.

I liked thinking Riddick was just an ordinary human who could kick a hardcore amount of ass... Then in CoR they make him out to be a humanoid from another planet that got destoyed or something and he's the last one. Yuk. Not to mention Judi Dench as some sort of elemental, dubya tee eff.
Hound
Now, that you mention it... I do actually see what you liked in Pitch Black compared to Chronicles of Riddick, and I am a Cole Hauser fan. Some of movies are unimpressive, but his role is always played out well. I would have given it a thumbs up. I would have to reconsider which one was better though.

Yeah I fcuking remember this movie. Holy crap was I scared s###less. Plus whenever Riddick would say something, it was pretty deep. Too bad they totally killed his character in his spinoff movie.
