Bear in mind these things when deciding:

• Squall has a gun built into his sword
• Cloud can block bullets with his sword
• They are pretty much equal in Strength

So really just find a reason why one of them would win.

I vote for Squall, his blade is alot smaller, meaning more lightweight, I think he could get a couple of lethal blows in.

I'm basing this on REAL combat. If it were down to gameplay and materia or junctioning it would be Cloud, 4X Cut baby!

I'd say Squall. For the same reasons. But if it was counting limits then Squall would win hands down- Lion Heart for the win, Pwns omnislash. Other than that they would be fairly close.

both were solid warriors but I think cloud is more powerful and I just think he would win in a fight to the death. His sword might be alittle heavier, but that just makes it hurt more

though I like Squalls personality..I dont think he is a match to cloud.
cloud has much more effective abilities duo to the materia, he is also stronger...Just look at how easily he swings his sword altough its so heavy and big.
And the fact that he kicked sephiroth makes cloud even greater.

I think Cloud would take Squall in a battle. He was god-modding too much in Advent Children.

Well, I'll pick squall, since in FFVIII everyone can use GFs + Magics for free! =D its a great advantage! Squall can just Aura himself and use lionheart straight away =D. Or he'll just summon Eden and Cloud is good as nothing =P No offense though.

Cloud's emo nature would prevent him from being able to deliver the deathblow, and Squall... Well Squall is just one of the worst main characters in a game ever and a Gunblade isn't a practical weapon. They cancel each other out.

I voted for Cloud. Even though he took kind of a while to start really developing a personality, he was always kicking ass in fights, including tossing Sephiroth over that railing and the one-on-one at the end. That's why I voted that way.

Cloud vs. Squal vs. Zidane

You guys make a separate topic if you want a three way battle between those characters but since this topic was made as it is then posts should be about the whole point of the topic. Oh and posts irrelevant to the topic aren't actually that far from trolling or spamming.

Any posts after this that doesn't directly involve with the discussion of Cloud vs. Squall will be deleted. Apples and oranges topics are fine, but throwing strawberry is just pushing it.

To me Cloud would win. Although I'm a "fan boy" of both I'd say Cloud is stronger. Check this:
1 - Cloud has Jenova cells in him, wich make him faster and stronger;
2 - his sword is longer and larger making it dificult for Squall to reach him without a huge risk of getting hit;
3 - Squall may be a good at swordmanship but he's a normal guy who's motivated by his love;
4 - Cloud defeated Sephiroth twice! Thats something!

I agree with Dookie on this one. Squall has the advantage of using GF's and Auras. I think he could kill him in an instant.
If he was in trouble, he could also cast Regen on himself.
And with Eden junctioned on Squall, he would win for sure.

And for the end: Cloud beat Sephirot, but Squall defeated Ultimecia who had more formes. I think that's a more difficult fight than the one against Seph.

Lets start with Cloud...For one, as stated above, he can block bullets with his sword. Also, keep in mind he was shot in the face at the beginning of advent children and all it really did was scratch his forehead...then there's the beating of Sephiroth and all phases of Jenova, his sword can break down into six or seven swords so it's kinda hard to disarm him, AND he's almost literally drowned in the physical lifestream with the only side-effect being the discovery of some forgotten memories.

Squall? Well, he's good at staying quiet and moping about Seifer, all while awkwardly trying to woo Rinoa and run a sort of soldier university. God knows the guy can multi-task with the best of them, but is that enough to take on a virtual demi-god with a legitimate reason to be pissed? Ah...no.

And to the argument about Squall's sword being shorter and faster? True, but because it's shorter he has to get in closer, which means he has to get retardedly deep into the Buster Sword's (or whatever sword Cloud is using at the time) attack range, so he better be D**n sure of his abilities before he tries it.

It's simple really. Cloud's sword is bigger then Squall's sword. Cloud's hair stretches higher the Squall's hair. Easy win? Heck yeah.

Heheh, well game-wise it'd be who's first to attack since they'd both probably do 9999 damage.

Realistically, if it was just a sword match, Squall. If Cloud is that fast with a giant blade, Squall must be really fast with a lighter smaller blade and it really doesn't matter how big a sword is, getting stabbed by metal will kill you.

However, with magic, materia and so forth, urms...well I suppose neither....Cloud has his materia. Squall has his junctions. Cloud can summon. Squall can summon. Cloud get Omnislash. Squal can Leonheart.

I really can't say, but judging from how they made them in KH, it'd have to be Cloud. His stronger then Squall in it and you can't argue with Squaresoft.

Not true really, if Cloud is quick with one blade it doesn't mean Squall is faster with a smaller blade. It depends on their strength, and I take back what I said first post, about them being equal strength, whyI said that I don't know, it's two different games, two different worlds, and just to note,they're not real, they don't have strength but when you think of it this way you could say Cloud is stronger, since he manages normal combat with a huge sword, while Squall uses a small one, you may think that since the differences are matched out with the sword sizes they equal out to be strong as each other.




Say they fought at the time of the start of their games, when they're both like level 10, that'd make it more interesting. Say they had same strength as a level 10 but 9999 HP so more factors of their fighting skills come into play. If it were 9999 all round then yeah, I agree with you there.

Either way you're screwed if you get stabbed and the other guy's just dandy.



It's turn based. The enemy lets you take your time in attacking, so you really can't say much for Cloud being stronger just because he uses a huge sword in normal combat. Using that logic, you could also say that Squall is better because he is capable of doing similar damage with a much smaller sword.



Yep, but at lvl 10, since it's a turn based game and they'd generally be of equal stats....the one who hits first will have a distinct advantage. Plus, my Cloud missed an amazing amount of times at lvl 10. God, it annoyed me.

Yeah, Squall always has 255% hit rate.

Both their limit breaks do similar damage, but I think Squall's actually does more... And i mean, Cloud is a great fighter and all, but they're two very different fighting styles. Final Fantasy VII Cloud can scale large buildings, Squall can't. loll.

I personally voted for Squall, because I like Squall better, I think he has more to live for and more to fight fore, and I think that would make him fight a better fight. Plus, i dunno.. Gunblade is badass
