Atlus USA has announced that their upcoming PS2 RPG Persona 3 will be launching in June of 2007. As of press time, we are unsure if the American version of Persona 3 will be based on the standard edition of the game or the director's cut that was recently announced for Japanese release.
PS2 owners will likely be able to pick up Persona 3 when it releases for $49.99 USD.

Holy living ##### man, well I guess thats alright, have waited for a persona 3 since i finished playing the second game, whats six more months going to hurt.
Also it leaves me a lot of time for me to work on my backlog and enjoy Rogue Galaxy and Ar Tornerico when they both come out without having to prioritize Persona 3.
But hey, we got a release date, FINALLY.

You know, I honestly didn't care for Persona 2 because of the system it used but Persona 1 was solid enough and I do enjoy Atlus so more than likely I'll be picking this title up. I guess it'll just be another RPG to my ever growing list.

So delay thing I heard was true then. <____< Bruh... but I do hope that with this delay they'll be able to add all those extra stuff from the director's cut. >_____>

Ditto... more or less. I liked the battle system better in Persona 1, but the story was a thousand times better in Persona 2. Though I've only finished both Persona 1 & 2 a few months ago, and there are many things of the story that I didn't quite get (I should ask about that on here sometime).
Still, Persona 2 has made it on my list of gaming brilliance. It helps that it has a villainous fortune-telling hottie with sexy/weirdo accent. =p Either way, I'm interested enough to consider Persona 3. So knowing the release date now is good news, I guess.

Hope you kept a separate save earlier on. There are some story differences between choosing Nate's and Ellen's route, with different boss fights at the end of those undersea ruins (Nate's route is harder). I prefer Ellen's route, because it puts more focus on Chizuru (Guido isn't bad either, but I like Chizuru better). Having both routes completed (yes, 2 playthroughs) gives access to a bonus dungeon as well, with an interesting boss fight at the end.
Sadly, Persona 3 apparently won't be as closely connected to the previous stories anymore. I think I'd rather see a translated version of Innocent Sin. =s

Persona 3 will only have those previous characters as TV guest stars so meh. Personally my comparison between Persona 1 and 2 is that I really prefer 2 more because P1 didn't appeal to me that much early on which is why I still need to play more of 1.... but urrgghhh!!!!
I agree with Xern on IS because I'd love to see Maya as just another playable character rather than the main silent character. <______<

*Innocent Sin spoilers* I've read that you could choose out of 3 characters as a love interest for Tatsuya in Innocent Sin. One of them was Jun. Figures they'd scrap porting the game with an official yaoi pairing. Makes me wonder if that's one of the reasons why it wasn't ported, it definitely wouldn't surprise me.

yes, i did create a save file before choosing who to meet- i went with Nate my first time... if i still have it on my memory card, i don't know- i think i may have deleted it. ah, well.
also, who the hell are Chizuru & Guido? i'm thinking secondary non-playable characters... i haven't played the game in a long time.

You don't remember them... not even Guido? He was a major villain in the 1st game and returns in Eternal Punishment. Head of Sebec, purple hair, Nate's personal "rival", that's Guido. Chizuru is the fortune teller who supports (and apparently loves) Guido, aiding him with her fortune-telling (with the rumor-spreading system of the game, which I never understood storywise).
They are both fairly major villains, and one of them will have a showdown with you at the end of the undersea ruins, depending on whos path you chose.
