Nintendo of America has announced that their upcoming Nintendo DS titles Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond will be hitting our shores on April 22, 2007. Players will be able to transfer their pokemon from the Game Boy Advance iterations of the titles by placing them in the Nintendo DS's Game Boy Advance slot.

"After recently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Pokemon franchise continues to get stronger," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "These two new titles represent the best that Pokemon has to offer, and a great opportunity for Game Boy users to upgrade to Nintendo DS."

These new Pokemon titles for the DS are the first to be enabled for online play, allowing users to play or battle across the street or across the world. Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl will be rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.

Pokemon still kicking, even in the US.

The most interesting feature of the newest Pokemon installment would be you're allowed to be play online against other people. Too bad this feature was not aroundwhen I enjoyed Pokemon.

Yeah I may get back into Pokemon some day. I like that you can play it online, but I'd actually much rather see a full MMO Pokemon game where other live people walk around and challenge you to fights.
Twilight Guardian
hai, that would be great. kinda...after awhile, maybe you'd get bored though? unless there was some kind of story put into the game. but still, even after you complete it, then what? I don't know much about these new games to be coming out, but I might give them a try. haven't really kept up with the pokemon craze that never seems to die.

hm wow it would be good excuse to get a DS lol and yea online play for pokemon wow why not make a MMO pokemon even if it wouldnt sell very well...but iv always enjoy the pokemon games even if the TV seris well is very kiddish but it has good meaning and its always fun to get into a game and escape from the world a few times!

i cant wait for it even if i am a bit older playing pokemon ill admit that pokemon is cool game!

Finally a Pokemon game that could be a little more innovative than past Pokemon titles, from what I've seen. Is it just me or do the graphics sort of resemble a Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing feel? What's going to be a major selling point will of course be the ability battle and trade Pokemon via the DS Wi-Fi. It also looks like it will online voice chat. My DS has been kind of lonely lately, maybe this new Pokemon game will do the trick this spring.

Couple of scans too;
Pokemon scan 1
Pokemon scan 2
Pokemon scan 3
Pokemon scan 4

yea it does have that harvest moon kind of feel to it and i think it might just be worth playing and with new/more controls being that it is on DS it seems pretty good and i cant wait to see the Wi-Fi connection with trading and battling other people!

Pokemon Diamonnnn & Pearllll.

How many ##### pokemon do they have now? Hahaha. 8P

Even though I'm way over the pokemon-obsession stage, I was actually playing Emerald the other day and I missed that feeling of the old-school pokemon that I used to have when I played red or yellow. I'd totally play this game though, even if I'm too old for that......whatevahs hahaha. 8D

Yeah, my older brother wants to get this game badly. We don't have a DS, so we'd need to get one, but hopefully this Pokemon'll be different from the others...The others get old really fast, especially since they are...eight of the same thing. Catch Pokemon, fight people standing in the same spot in ever-single-game...But I've seen stuff on this game and it doesn't look too bad, I guess. I heard from my brother that you could choose from say, a Psychic, to a Gym Leader, to a Breeder, all sorts of stuff for your person to be. Like Apple said, even though I'm past the Pokemon-obsession stage, I might get this one. (Funny, my 21 year old sister almost played Emerald the other day, and I almost played it a while ago from lack of anything to do... tongue.gif )
