Synopsis
The story revolves around a strange young man born in 18th Century Paris, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, whose prodigious gift of an incomparable sense of smell and inexplicable lack of personal scent isolates him from society. Obsessed with the rich sensory world he alone inhabits, his single objective in life becomes the preservation of the perfect scent: the skin of young, beautiful virgins.

Cast
Ben Whishaw as Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, the young man without a scent of his own but a strong sense of smell. He is anti-social and obsessive.

Dustin Hoffman as Giuseppe Baldini, the man who employs Grenouille at his shop of perfume. He teaches Grenouille how to capture smells and create perfume.

Alan Rickman as Antoine Richis, the father of Laura. He fears for his daughter's safety but finds it hard to protect her.

Rachel Hurd-Wood as Laura Richis, the daughter of the powerful Richis and the subject of Grenouille's attention. Her scent, he feels, will complete his collection.

The music already freaks me out. But I am going to watch it.

Bloo...

Yeah I watched the trailer for it earlier. It looks interesting, and a bit odd at the same time. =p
I might go watch this, but I doubt it since I have a problem getting certain people to go see scary movies with me.
Dragon Brigade
Lol, I didn't check, but what's this rated? If this is PG-13 I might go see it, but if it's R or something, I know for fact my parents won't let me...I'll keep my fingers crossed, eh? Grenoulle seems kinda creepy, too...Though the music sounds really good in my opinion. I like the eerieness of it...

I saw the trailer on one of my DVD's, though I can't say I am fascinated by this film.
It looks dark and such, but the first thing that came to mind was that it is French, considering I do not like French people, nor the language, I doubt I will see this one.
Voyou San
looks pretty ok, i think i might check this out when it hits the dvd shelfs.. but def. not a theatre type movie.
Apple
My cousins were talking about this, and it seems really creepy. D8 It seemed also hard to find in theatres, and it's in French so I can totally dig that hahahaha. (Amelie started the trend of me loving french-anything, merrrr.) I would totally watch this if it didn't creep me out so freaking much. 8(

Ah the fun of socialy exepted racism. Really it stopped being funny at freedom fries, not to mention the story was writen by a German it is just set in France...

Any way this movie is not in French from the trailers I have seen and the fact the actors are not French either. Story sounds intresting, does seem to be a hard consept to carrying into films so I might go see it for that.
Seluna
An article (or was it the website itself?) said that the book it was based on was once said to be unfilmable. The author did not want to release the right for quite some time, but the producer (or director?) was very stubborn.

It's Restricted sad.gif so I couldn't check it out even if I want to. And it's really quite creepy. o.o
Kokiri
I'll watch it if I see it in theaters.

Yes the writer believed it was unfilmable because of how imporant smell is to the story and you can't film smell as such. He was won over and then the film was made.
Death
Dookie, this looks like a great movie, but i'm greatly pissed that it is not coming out at my part of america, i'll have to buy it off amazon when it comes out on Dvd I guess
