...I thought Clayman made this already but I guess he didn't.
Anyways, there have been many films out ...last year xD but of course there were the ones that sucked you in and others that made you leave the theaters earlier than you planned. I thought it would be nice to do what we did last year and look over the movies that came out in 2006.
I actually thought it was pretty interesting year for movies some goods and some bad ones... we had Final Destination 3, V for Vendetta, Hostel, Borat, The Break Up, The Departed, MI:III, Hoodwinked, Ice Age 2, Silent Hill, X-men: The Last Stand, Ultra Violet, The Black Dhalia and so on...
So what were you favourite movies that you saw in 2006? ...and WHY?

Ah I didn't realise Lucky Number Slevin was an 06 film if it was then definitely that.
I loved Superman Returns made me feel like I was a kid again
Pirates was quite good
X Men
Casino Royale brought Bond up to date much in the same Batman Begins did.
Films I haven't yet seen that came out in 06 are Pans Labyrinth, The Departed, Prestige and Borat.

Films I Liked that came out this year were: Pirates-Dead Man's Chest, X-men 3: The Last Stand, Batman Begins was okay, and Eragon....cut it I suppose...as a movie it really wasn't that great, but I guess it was fine. I dunno, I haven't really seen any others, or at least I can't think of any...
And I know we're supposed to say why we liked them, but all I can say for that was I just liked them because I liked them...I don't know why...I guess the action/music/acting was good. ...

Batman Begins is from 2005.
Hostel is from 2005.
Just thought you guys needed this thing called a "clue" and didnt want to just go ahead and say "get a clue" or "WTF, do you have a time distortion machine or what?"
As for my pick, I have yet to watch some movies i want to. Life conspired against me watching The Prestige first by having the premiere pushed a week because of a bad print, then by having a hangover, then by being lazy and so forth.
So as of right now I think i am going with Apocalypto or Inside Man. Now i dont usually like Spike Lee joints but Inside man was done quite well and barely played the race card, hooray Lee, finally, Clive Owen is the #####.
Apocalypto I thought was a great flick, it kept me interested and I thought it was a very interesting view towards the native american civilizations at the time of the conquest.
Saw 3 deserves a nod too, its pretty damn hard to keep a horror franchise going and that each episode feels fresh. I really enjoyed the third flick and it made me realize that I cant pick one of them and all three must be watched together to get the experience. I am greatly anticipating the fourth one. On the other hand Final Destination didnt live up to what i hoped for, I liked the flick and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one breathtaking chick, but i felt it was the weakest of them all whereas Saw 3 maintained quality.

Batman Begins is from 2005.
My extreme appologies...What was the Batman that came out this year then? That was the one I saw...I just don't remember what it's called...bad memory loss on my part^_^
Another movie I saw was Ice Age 2 (two nights ago as a matter of fact...) and that fell in the category of 'random movie' in my book...I dunno. It just seemed so random, but I guess as a movie it was fine...not the greatest by any means, but it was okay^_^

Batman Animated Series Collectors DVD?
##### if i know, the last Batman, with my man Christian Bale, is from 2005, the next Batman is going to get released next year.
If you dont believe me here you go
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372784/This is the part when Athrun pops out saying "Like omg you #####, some parts of the world get movies late so they count as if they are released on the year they are first shown on the country no matter what the correct release date is"
Well Hicks, I just dont give a #####, happy. If a movie gets released in India in 2003 and It gets released here on 2006, I will still count it as if it was released in 2003. Hicks WTF man?
Superman Return had Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther. Nothing more need to be said about that movie. I know this would be a favorite topic, but Kevin Spacey equal Lex Luther? It's like saying Michael Keaton equal Batman.
I'm counting films released in the U.S. in 2006.
The Descent
Black Christmas
Final Destination 3
Oddly, nothing much come to mind after that. I rarely go to the theaters, but I can't remember great DVD movie this year at all.

I heard Lucky Number SLevin was good....looks like I'll have to find out eventually hahaha.
A movie I really really liked and would consider my top for 'o6 was V for Vendetta definitely. Hugo Weaving never sounded so freaking amazing.
A good second would be Marie Antoinette. Sounds kind of pathetic, but I really enjoyed that film. Sophia Coppolla plus a really really amazing soundtrack? I can diggg it. 8D

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372784/No to the first question of the animation. And yes, I guess it was released in 2005...sorry, it's entirely my mistake...That's the movie I was talking about. Thanks Raz.
EDIT: Another movie I saw this year that I liked was Lady in the Water.

Silent Hill was the only new movie in 2006 that I saw, besides Pulse, but that sucked. So, that leaves me with Silent Hill being the only one worth mentioning. ^^; Loved it, and am looking forward to the second movie. (And yes, it has been confirmed.

And yes Silent Hill was pretty awesome. I thought they were going to find some way to ##### it up but the changes they made didnt take much from the base. I commend the effort put into the movie.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6163606.htmlNo specific details as of yet, but it's going to be Gans and Avary working on it again. Well... Gans might be a bit too busy with Onimusha (as the article says), so I guess we'll just have to see what happens. I trust Gans cares enough about the accuracy of the movie to not simply hand the project off to somebody with no idea of what he wants in the movie.

Lets see, good 2006 movies....
well, Im not really into horror movies, so I havent seen any of those
Casino Royale, which is possibly the best Bond movie ever.
Flags of our Fathers, I thought this was a good movie, I dont know about all of you....
other than that, I dont think I saw any movies, so I guess none worth mentioning.
The Evil Dead
Jan 4 2007, 03:02 PM
The Descent... It was released here in 2006 and is definitely one of the best horror/thriller flicks to hit theaters in a very long time. I enjoyed it immensely and need to go pick it up on Blu-Ray.
Final Destination 3 was excellent... It's not the best series out there but it satisfied my need for blood and gore and it had Mary Elizabeth Winstead so that made me happy as well.
Slither was a great black comedy horror flick that really did a great job capturing the feel and audience it was going for.
I enjoyed Silent Hill and need to get that on Blu Ray as well... I think the sequel will be worlds above the original film as well.
Outside of that I can't think of much. I know I'm missing a couple titles but I can't really think of what.

Sorry, I skimmed through the previous posts. Gotta stop doing that!
Anyway, I don't see how there will be a Saw IV.
Spoliers!!! Highlight to see!!!
Jigsaw and Amanda die at the end of Saw III, I even thought Jigsaw died at the end of Saw II before they came up with Saw III.
Also, some other people are doing Saw IV instead of twisted pictures. Twisted pictures is doing something else now.

There will be. It's confirmed on numerous websites.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0890870/http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=17253What's more important is that Hostel 2 will be coming out next year as well if everything goes according to plan.
But yeah, just wanted to throw that out there. There will be a Saw 4. It's a moneymaking franchise and they're going to keep pumping out sequels so long as they can come up with the script and the ticket sales and DVD purchases are good.

I loved Clerks II but I'm not sure it's one of the best movies of the year. I went to the cinema loads of times and yet I can't remember really what came out this year... The prestige was a suprisingly good film that I really wasn't expecting to like. I didn't think too much to Superman returns and the big film of 2006 "Pirates of the Carribean 2" was pretty dissapointing.
Was silent hill really this year? That was was Visually amazing. It had a wonderful atmosphere about it, even though they could have cut out Sean Bean's side story (or even better, just made it have a point).
I guess I didn't see as many good movies as i thought I had... I was hoping imdb had a list of 2006 films, but apparently not...

16 Blocks
Lucky Number Slevin
V For Vendetta
Silent Hill
Eight Below
Hm... yeah, most of them were released during the first half of the year. There are still a few I'd like to see though, notably The Protector, The Prestige, and I'm skeptical about how well The Black Dahlia will follow the actual events. I also loved Happy Feet, haha. So favorite animated film right there.
