I really like this show, and I can't really say exactly why either. XD It's nothing specifically great about it, it's just simple and fun, and I enjoy watching the cast of characters in it. I think they nailed most of the cast pretty perfectly. Especially Betty. She's easy to like.



Apparently Salma Hayek ran into het at a hotel one day and asked her to do the part, and thought she was perfect for it. I wonder how that went. "Hey, I have the perfect part for you! Can you play a really ugly girl?" XD
Apparently, America Ferrera (that's her name) gets recognised all the time when she goes out on the streets. She said "I didn't think I looked like her, but apparently I do. =p"

Anyway, it airs here on Tuesedays, and I've watched most of the episodes so far, but they're only about 6 or so into the series so far.

This is actually a north american remake of a colombian soap opera named Betty la Fea (which naturally means Ugly Betty). I didnt watch it then and I aint watching now.

I can't really stand network TV but I'm a sucker for stupid reality shows like Top Chef so it's not like I'm above such a thing as network TV.

That's all I have to say... My mom is really into this show though but I'm definitely not going to be able to bring myself to watch such things. Especially an NBC comedy.

Anywayssss, I love Ugly Betty! It's really a cute show, although I recall that I got kind of bored sometimes. I loveeed Selma Hayek's character, hahaha. And her boyfriend Hunter, he's freaking hilarious. "Of course I suck at the salsa. I only ranked #2 in the national dance off" or whatever the hell it was he said lolss. 8D The actors play their roles pretty well I'd have to say.

since I only have free public TV I mean no cable dish nothing . All watch it if nothing else is on It's an ok show.

Ohhhhhhhh, the Colombian version used to air here on one of our channels. I wasn't following it regularly, and I started watching it somewhere near the 200th episode I think. It was a very funny show but I haven't watch it till the end because I couldn't catch it often because it aired in the time when I'm often at school.

It premiers tonight in the UK, in about an hour... I may just check it out... anything is better than "Celebrity Big Brother"... Channel 4 have really been adverts for Ugly betty a lot latley, and Channel 4's friday line-up is often really good... (except Blunder, British Comedy at it's worst, but that's an entierly different subject XD)...

I normally watch at least of one every episode of Friday Night Comedy that Channel 4 shows, only because I didn't watch 'Green Wing' only to find out a couple of years later that it's British Comedy at it's best...

I don't know about this Salma Hayek's Ugly Betty. But I do know about the spanish version of this movie. A Telenovela called Betty La Fea. It's been aired around 3 times here. My mom used to watch it, Ugly girl Betty who likes her boss, Jose Armando. lol

yeah, i've seen it, my best friends parents are addicted to it. Along with desprate housewives, both are alright shows.

Ugly betty has made me laugh, but, the idea of the shows, Doesn't spark my interest.

I have to say, that I was so bored the other night I actually watched the first episode of this aired in the UK. I never had the intention of seeing it as it looked quite... strange =/.
But the first episode was okay, and when she gets humiliated by her new boss in front of everyone, and all the stick-thin models laugh at her, it was really sad. Other than that, it wasn't all that great imo, even with Salma Hayek as an overly dramatic soap star.

I might watch the next episode to see if it improves, but as I first thought, it doesn't look to be my kind of program.

Watch at least one more Bubby. It should be more representative of how the rest of them are. The first episode is a bit of an introduction to the whole thing while the next following epsiodes will be pretty similar, and all the characters will get into their own roles. It's just a new issue/problem every week, kinda. =p

I seen some show ABOUT ugly betty if that counts hehe... but no im not watching it. it looks like a decent show, but im not guna bother giving it a chance, too much anime to be watched haha

Anyway I'm halfway through watching the second episode now (the adverts are on) and I have no idea what is going on but whatever it is, it isn't very funny... I'll watch until the end but this has yet to make me want to watch another episode, let alone like the damn show...

I missed the first episode because I was busy helping out my parents with the shop and I missed the repeats because I never knew they were on ^^; .

Anyways, I managed to catch the second and third episode on E4 since they have it on Wednesdays which is a waaay better schedule time for me xP. I think it's a groovy show, I love Betty's character just because she's such a misfit in what a job is and Wilhelmina is just a funny villain of the show. Amanda is the typical bitch but you like her for some reason xD.

I'm already curious about the whole situation behind Daniel Meade's dad... But yeh, this show has alot of elements that remind me of Desperate Housewives.

I find it alright.

I saw only two episodes, granted, but it hasn't really given me much reason to really try and make an effort to watch it. I'll check it out if I happen to flip to it, but that's all. XD

I'm shocked that my mom didn't just eat it up. She's all into shows like this and she just flat-out told me that she thinks it's awful. Haha, I'll stick to Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. =p

I get why you say that... however I not only can watch an episode of DH but I also enjoy it while Ugly Betty was a chore to sit through. Maybe you need to get into it (A bit like spaced which is THE greatest sitcom EVER but you had to watch a few episodes before you really get into it) so I may watch tomorrow's episode (though I'm most probably out so who knows)...

Haha, I like the show but I'm not putting it on par with DH, heck DH has waaay more stuff going on. I kind of found it hard to sit through because I thought the outcome was obvious in the show, she loses the book... she'll get it back - all is well, you know what I mean.

DH is less obvious but UB still has that mysterious element that DH has, I'm referring to that mysterious woman that Wilhemina talks to in the shadows xD. Other than that, I think it's just another com-drama...

YEAHHHH, suck their dickssss. 8DDD!!! America Ferrera won for best Actress and the series won golden globes. It's practically unimportant, but still I'm glad it got the recognition it deserves. Been watching it since EPISODE ONEEEE and it still never fails.
