As far as publicity stunts go, this is probably the most literal we can think of: get a monkey to play a game about monkeys. Look! He's even wearing a promotional T-shirt.

It's not clear if this is supposed to prove that Wii games are so accessible even animals can play them or that the Wii-mote is monkey compatible, but what we do know is this little fella was shipped into London's Wii house (used to demo games to the media) for a photoshoot, yesterday.

Above: Monkey has total disregard for Nintendo's Wii-mote safety recommendations

We're assuming Nintendo is using this opportunity to point out just how well Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz did over the Christmas holiday period (in the top five best-selling launch titles). Although, if it was us, we'd have been a bit disappointed the monkey didn't smile a bit more. Or maybe throw the Wii-mote through a TV screen.

It's true. The monkey isn't using the strap. =o He has absolutely no respect for Nintendo's safety recommendations.

Lol I'm feeling sorry for the ape, playing the Wii all the time when you see it on his face he just want to lay his hands on the new ps3. No just kidding wink.gif

But really I don't like the idea of letting a monkey do that, i'm feeling sorry for him. He's standing there next to all those cameras en noise en probably has no idea what's going on. But hej if it helps selling more games sure let us use monkeys and why we don't replace all game testers by monkeys sure saves us a lot of dollars. "Come on ape if you see a bug eat it!"

I want to see him play the game. XD I'm sure a monkey could learn to play a game like Wii sports, but it's doubtful it would understand the rules or objective of the game. Still pretty cool though.

Well, since he's not using the strap, I guess it is a good thing that he didn't throw the wiimote at that TV in the background yet. That tv sure does look a bit expensive. That's a new interesting approach at advertising, using animals holding the remote and wearing a promotional T-shirt.

That monkey is going to hurt someone... Very clever idea though. Now we need a hedgehog to play Sonic...
