Finally I was able to go see Casino Royale this friday. It's been out for a few weeks now but I couldn't go and watch it because my friend couldn't go see if for certain reasons, until two days ago. And we've always seen every Bond film together since Goldeneye 007 so we didn't want to break the tradition.

Color me impressed. I was expecting the film to start off slowly, and building up, because it's "new/different" but quite the opposite it was full throttle from the very beginning. It was exciting all the way through, with the typical Bond humor thrown into the mix. The scene where 007 chases that black guy was a very typical Bond scene. It was funny when the black guy jumped through a tiny hole in Jackie Chan style while Bond just ran straight through the wall. XD Very graceful.
There were a lot of unexpected things about the film as well, such as the car chase. I was expecting a typical Bond car chase scene, and I think most people in the room did, so we were taken by surprise by what was lying on the road as he passed the first hill, and the scene came to a very quick and abrupt end.

There are a lot of already classic scenes in the film. One of my favorites are when he returns to the poker table and says "That last hand nearly killed me." Priceless. XD And the "Everyone will know you died while scratching my balls" was another hillarious scene.
I guess this being the first Bond film could explain why he never gets attached to women any more, aside from that one time in " In Her Majestys Secret Service"

Anyway this was a great Bond movie, and in my oppinion the second best Bond film I've seen after Goldeneye. He doesn't pull off James Bond as nicely as Sean Connery, but he does an amazing job portraying Bond. I'm quite happy with him, and the overall movie was better than most Bond films I've seen.
Death
I'll be sure to see it hiks, since it also has the main character from Layer cake as James bond.

All the more reason to see it.
and question, How is his acting, not as bond, but did it feel "real" in a sense?

Well, sounds pretty good. I wonder if it is still in theatres around here? If it is still showing, I'll be sure to check it out. The name Casino Royale sounds fimiliar, I think maybe this is a remake, just with James Bond added into it?

I understand what they meant now by making it feel more realistic. Yeah the story and the acting was far more realistic and focusing more on character development and personal issues than any other Bond film. It was told and played out in a way that it could actually be a real story, and not just a Bond film. It was believable. And we see a more human side of 007 and the rest of the characters, in lack of a better way to descibe it. Deathcounts for example are no longer a casual thing.
You'll definitely notice when you see it.

Casino Royale was Ian Fleming's first book in the James Bond series. I think there was already a Casino Royale film before... but something about it was different from the regular movies, I think. Like that "Never say never again" movie.

Anyway this was film of the year for me, along with Pirates of the Caribean 2, and I might go see it again if I can convince a certain person who's only ever seen one Bond film before to go watch it with me.

Oh, never mind, it did involve James Bond in the first Casino Royale, the one from 1967. Anyways, I checked it up on wikipedia and IMDB.

Yeh, I saw it a week after it's release over here. My friend already saw it twice but went me to see it a third time anyways xD.

I thought the movie was great but it wans't a movie I really wanted to talk about for some reason. There was action from the very beginning and the fact it was presented black and white for that part, I loved it. Daniel Craig is a good actor, I don't see why people complain about him being chosen as Bond.

Agreed xDD. And when he ordered that drink while the game was starting up was a great moment as well xP. My friend wanted to go home and try to make the same drink xD.

The intro-credit sequence was awesome! =x I couldn't get over how pretty and creative it was. xP

I agree with everything Athrun said Casino Royale is also my fav Bond film since Goldeneye(same director?). They succeeded in bringing the Bond character up to date whilst staying quite close true to Ian Flemings original. They kept sight of the fact that he is a hitman and you are bang on when you say you notice every kill especially in the opening scene.

I actually really liked the theme song too it grows on you smile.gif I knew Daniel Craig would be a great Bond, from his performances in other films and well done to him for proving the doubters wrong in every way.

Yeah that was one of the biggest changes I noticed. Usually you see Bond blast through a group of badguys with lots of shots and explosions, and you never give it a second thought. But in this film it was always a big deal and more realistic when someone died.

I seen it on opening day happy.gif, i actually really liked it. some parts were comical..
and it was great becuz the sound cut out durring a fight scene for a bout 45 seconds... so we didnt miss any dialog but we all got free movies passes and $3 off food lol good times
The Evil Dead
That old Casino Royale is a #### Peter Sellers movie that has Woody Allen as well. I've no idea what they were trying to accomplish with that film because it's not much of a spoof, but it certainly doesn't follow the Casino Royale book at all.

I need to see this new film still but I've had a hard time getting people to go with me because they're all not that interested in seeing the film. I suppose I'll wait to DL or rent it or something.

About Casino Royale being a remake - it is. However, it isn't anything close to the original. The first isn't even written by Ian Fleming, and thank god for that. 1967's Casino Royale with Woody was absolutely terrible.

The new one was very very very well done, and I loved every minute of it. For the humour, I simply found the torture scene the funniest. "Now the whole world will know you scratched James Bond's balls."
