Ok I was sitting here thinking about how many stupid stories ive heard of how to get alternate endings, secret charicters and many others that have led me to hours of looking and searching only to find out later on it was fiction and decided to see what the rest of you have heard about these myths and how much time you have spent looking for them.
also im not implying about gameshark codes or any other thing like that just the rumers.
My favorite ones would have to be from FF7 about finding certain items of Sepheroth's cloathing such as a silver wig, black trench coat, and the masamune you could play as him through out the rest of the game.
Also the rumer of getting a certain secret event with Aerith to make her stay alive.
lol I spent so many hours looking for these when I played its disgraceful.
but what have the rest of you heard?

I remember one where it said to play through the entire first disc of FF7 without saving once to play as Sephiroth. Obviously it sounded too fake to even try out. I remember hearing about scenes with Aerith being alive as well.
This wasn't a rumor though, but one time when I was in a game shop, this guy started talking to me about how FF9 has a hidden ending FMV. I told him "you probably mean the extra scenes you get from having that hammer and save the queen?" he ssaid "no, an actual FMV movie in the end. Square put it on the disc, but you cant see it. I wrote to them and asked, and they told me it was true"
I think that guy hasn't been eaing his cereal.

lol rumors when VII was still its prime.
Lots, reviving Aeris was the most argueable I think. <.<;;
I have 1 rumor that almost got me to try it out. It was making Excalibur out of Ultima Weapon, lmao.
Here's how :
After you obtained Ultima Weapon, put 8 mastered KOR summon materias to it and the weapon will evolve to Excalibur.
I stopped trying after I breed 2 mastered KoR, to hell with it. =p

There is only once instance I belive that Aerith has extra unique dialogue that shouldn't be there. If you add Aerith back into your party with a gameshark and then do the mountain snowboarding, when you reach the bottom she has her own unique dialogue. Still it's most likely just a mistake for it to be added nothing else...

ANYWAY... In every final fantasy I have heard about flying the airship around the world 100 times to unlock something... there is always the rumour of "Hentei Materia" in FFVII >.> My friend (I used the term loosely) was a compulsive liar and told me that if you use the "Sex Materia" on Aerith after her death she immediatly has a child who looks like both Aerith and Cloud and it has a mixture of the two skills and is the most powerful playable character in the game... The hammer and save the queen arn't just rumours, they are just secret items. You get the hammer in your quest for giving the coins to that lady-thing... it's one of the prizes. I can't remember which coin off hand.
As for "Save the queen" that is a little bit trickier. You can only get it by Synthesising but not from just any ordinary shop... you have to go to the master synthesiser 'Hades'. He is in Memoria hiding behind a rock (In the underwater screen where Quina almost drowns). Before he will synthasise for you, you must defeat him. It's a touch battle but nothing too taxing.

I remember hearing a rumor once that for FF8 you could get the Lunatic Pandora (The ship that flies around Esthar attacking). When you entered it, there was a secret passageway that led to the control room, and you could siege it and use it as your airship
ROFL lol
I also heard another from Final Fantasy X-2 that if you unlocked all the types of fighters for all three girls, and made them fight in over 10,000 battles you'd get a new gunner where all the girls are naked lol

Dude there used to be AWESOME lists of fake characters and items you could get in Final Fantasy 6. If I recall correctly Gamefaqs used to host one of the faq's because of how goofy it was. The FAQ mostly consisted of goofy characters you could aquire and general BS like getting Kefka on your team, Kefka's " Brother " whoever that is, General Leo, Megaman, and too many other characters to mention.
There was also a myth about some super sword you could get by walkin around the Tower of Fanatics like 255 times that was supposed to kick total ass. Don't remember what the name of it was though.
There was a ton of glitches in the early cartridges of the game so I wasn't really surprised to see all those rumors about the title when I first started looking up FAQs.
I don't really know of too many myths outside of the few I mentioned, but they were always good for a laugh. I really wish I could find that FAQ again.

In the Golden Saucer if you got Yufie as your "date" and you went around getting the top items from the prize list from all the games.
You could watch a certain event with Arith and Tifa after the date was over, which I am not going into detail...you get the idea.

I got a date with Yuffie. I also got the date with Barret, and Barret implies Cloud is a child molestor (no joke, they talk about Marlene).
FFVII, Cloud has to have lost a bunch of battles in the battle arena, so he has 10 tissues. Then you have to go back to Midgar and equip the Buster Sword, and do something so Cloud starts crying, and it revives Aeris. Retarded.

Most of the rumors I have heard revolved around Final Fantasy VII. Usually reviving Aeris and whatnot.
Like in 4th grade I heard two boys talking, and one said he had this special guide that gave him the combination of buttons you press before Aeris dies, and it really works!
Being the gullible child I was, I believed him, but I never tried it, because I lost the slip of paper I wrote it on.
I also heard you had to get so many tissues, and go to the church, and something happens when them, and Aeris comes back to life. Pffffft.
For Final Fantasy VIII, I also heard about you being able to get Lunatic Pandora or whatever. But my mom bought me the guide with the game, and I searched it, and figured it wasn't true.

I have another FF VII rumor, about reviving Sephiroth... a cyborg Sephiroth. First, we need to go play the speed square minigame at Gold saucer, and score above 3000 to obtain following items : the replica of Masamune blade (Yes, this prize is real), 1 Super Sweeper (A new machine to protect the reactor, as the engine) and 35 units of 1/35 Soldier (as his body parts).
Then go to Nibelheim mansion, under the basement, something good will happen. =)

Who the hell would want to see Freya, Eiko and maybe Quina naked?
My friend who was a compulsive liar used to constantly lie about FFVII... and his excuse was that he had the PC version while me and my friend all had the PS1 version... Apparently... in the PC version
- You can go back on the train right at the beginning of the game and find the secret materia "Bahamut Ten" which would instantly destroy any enemy in one hit...
- Vincent could get a huge bazooka
- There was some woman who was in the water where you put Aerith that if you type in the secret code she will give you Cloud's TRUE ultimate weapon... (Considering we were about 11 years old, I'm pretty impressed by this lie...)
- You can get a rainbow chocobo which goes into space you can fly to Meteor which is a secret dungeon (I'm less impressed by this lie though...)
- Ruby weapon can become a playable character... apparently he shrinks down though to join your team...
- For some reason you can get "HP Minus" Materia that once they are equipped dissapear and you can't get rid of them... apparently my friend completed the game with all his characters having 1 Max HP

Well I heard a few for FF VII. One was that you could get Tifa naked by getting the orthopedic underwear from her drawers in Cloud's Nibelheim flash back and then searching that same drawer later on in the game. Also I heard that in the flash back if you press triangle on the first Mt. Nibel bridge and then do the same later on and it let you recruit Sephiroth.

I think the idea of getting ultima weapon in 12 hours, and having to get to hades in 12 hours comes from the fact that if you get to the end of Memoria in 12 hours you can get Steiner's ultimate weapon. This isn't a rumor and is actually true (not that I've done it myself, but I don't think official guides can lie). I'm pretty certain "Save the queen" does go into your item list, but you certainly can't equip it (except to Beatrix if you use a cheat cartridge to get her back into the party I believe). Still, it's a cool item and you gotta wonder where Beatrix got her's from...

It's not that powerful, and it's pretty easy to get. It's the Zolom's special attack, and if you get it the first time you go through like I usually did then it is pretty powerful until Corel at least, but the MP cost is annoying.
Just equip the person with the Enemy skill materia with the elemental materia linked with fire. Then get them 600+ HP and let the Zolom hit them with Beta then wipe it out. It's easier with Elemental lvl 2 though 'cos that nullifies the attack completely.

Those might be only in the PAL version though... I've only ever seen post-somehow-bloodless-impaling Aeris in the church in Midgar, but only on disk 3.
As for myths, the only one I've heard was reviving General Leo in FFVI, and some of these were even more ridiculous myths than the ones for resurrecting Aeris. I can only think of one offhand, but it required doing some ridiculous thing involving some item and (I think) a specific character, maybe similar to removing the curse on the Cursed Shield, involving the production of a Super Phoenix Down that brings him back to life and in your party when you stand in front of his grave with it in your possession.
Yeah, we never bothered trying. XD

Well the Rinoa being Ultimecia theory isn't much of a myth, there was significant points that supported it. In the end Athrun, myself, and a few others came to the ultimate conclusion that it MUST be false, without the help of the FF8 Ultimania.
But I have a hard time trusting the Ultimania's sometimes, that's why the theory is entirely plausible. Ever since they said that it's Sephiroth that's controlling Jenova in the Ultimania, I've been slightly skeptical of Square's "facts", becuase in the original FF7, they are clearly implying Seph is being controlled.
The biggest new myth I've heard is the connection between FFX-2 and FF7. The boy's name is Shinra in X-2, and there was some theory that the Farplane is really the Lifestream in FF7... Something like that.

I ALWAY Thought that in FFVIII, there will be an extra part of the story where GFs are getting involved.
As because Ifrit spoke something extra when you used Shiva against him.
But aparently it was not true. That and,
I'm still not sure.
If Laguna Squall's Father? and What happened to Julia?
I hear that Rinoa's Mother I Julia while Laguna's Child is Squall, so its... like a destiny or something.
Not sure if its true though.

Never explicitly states, but hinted to HEAVILY throughout the game.
1.When you visit Laguna in Esthar, Kiros and Ward say things like "You look a lot like your mother" and "Good thing you don't look like your father". Implying they know who Squall's parents are (Laguna and Raine). Then Laguna says, "I have a lot to tell you, but you may not want to hear all of it"
2. There are Moombas in Dollet Prison. In the game's tutorial it says Moombas can recognize people by the taste of their blood. Laguna at one point tried to teach these Moomba's how to speak, and they recognized him by his name Laguna. Then when Squall meets the Moombas, they TOO call him Laguna, meaning his blood is similar to Laguna's, because Laguna would be his father.
3. That's why Squall refers to Ellone as "sis". Because Ellone was like a sister to Squall since they both came from the same "family".
4. Laguna holds Squall's card. Doesn't mean much as evidence, but if u look at the other player cards' source in the game, there's usually a correlation between the two (Zell's mother has Zells card, Ellone has the Laguna Card [Uncle Laguna], Rinoa's Card is from General Caraway her father, Seifer's card is from Edea, Selphie's is from her best friend in Trabia). So there's at least some correlation with the cardholder being very close to the person who's card they hold.
It's basically assumed as true.
