Hint - Doppelganger & "Own King" (Key Item)
You can only find the Doppleganger after level 8. Beware, the Doppleganger is extremely powerful. He has all the skills you have, has the exact same HP and SP as you do, but he is 8 levels higher than you and all his stats are higher than yours except for HP and SP.

I reccomend you fight him at the end of game when all your characters are at level 50. I also reccomend going to an area where the Lucky Animal Sleipner is located, like Essential Red Plum's Resort. Find Sleipner and kick him. Now wait 10 minutes, don't do anything, don't even touch your controller.

When 10 minutes is up, go wander around the field. A red arrow will point towards the Dopplganger when you are near him. A message will appear on screen, then the edge of your screen will be cloudy. Run toward him and activate a fight. Right when you start the battle, Sleipner will come in reduce Doppleganger's Health by half.

Now use Beast Awakening, be sure you have Silabus and Piros for this to work effectively. Equip a broadsword and he should go down in no time. However, he is able to cast spells to heal himself, and he is constantly regaining HP ans SP throughout the fight.

By defeating him you get the Own King, a Key Item that transforms in one of the later volumes.

These are not "cheats", but all of this information is correct. And at leve 50, the Doppleganger was extremely easy to kill. I probably could have killed it even without using the lucky animal.
t0yo
o thats good to hear...i was so eager to fight the doppleganger...... and it ended up beind dissapointed he was dead after 4 hits *cry*
Fallen Angel
Well the fact is they are not cheats; but on the up side I can see that you actually put the effort into playing the game enough to know where all the beasts are. I guess a really helpfull thing you missed was the Black Armor you get from finishing the final quest in the game. The only draw back is that it sucks you sp but only one point of it and it also improves all your stats except for light defense. I guess its a good trade sp for the stats if you dont rely on skills that much. Anyway while I wait for GU 2 I've been playing Tales of the Abyss another Namco-Bandai game. and its pretty addictive the game-play reminded me of Star Ocean Till The End of Time. Anyway......have fun gameing.

AAAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!! Im confused! what does "It will turn into one of the later volumes" mean? does it mean that when i completely PWN the doppleganger that i get that own thingy and that it turns into like .Hack//G.U.U Vol.2 or 3?

P.S. Vol.3 is already out.

P.P.S. is there any better BroadSword than a Broad Wing? and is that Ripper Dual Blades the best Dual Blades to get in vol.1?
Tri-Edge
hahahahahaha. i owned the Doppleganger so badly. i was with Haseo lvl 50, Silabus lvl 50, and Piros lvl 49. i didnt even use the lucky animal, and when i fought the doppleganger, i was also fighting a PK. i went into the battle arena of someone being pked, but the doppleganger was in there too, so i had to kill both, and i did it without even breaking a sweat. what does the OWN KING do anyway? i mean, i know it's proof that i killed the doppleganger, but what the hell does it do?
thegamerdug
as for what the "own king" does, if you want to know so bad try asking a japanese player, they already have the third one out a while ago.
lodo
ok if you have the "own king"
and convert the memory to gu2
when you beat the doppleganger you get his weapons the best in the game

As for your Dopple Ganger Guide, I have to say Good Job At it , Although Most Rebirth players already kicked Dopple Gangers Butt, ( A Little Late for this informaton, Eh?)
The Monster and Items Guide Are Good Though.
Rozalin
I suck, I tried to kill it at lvl 43 (the level I killed azure kite) Man, i got total owned when he killed 1 char T_T
I has sucky items (100/200 hp 1char a few 100hp all) wtf?
Well I beated him after I reached lvl 50, I done some other quests instead. Before killing him
I looked into the gamefaqs item guide of rebirth and saw the lucky animal thingy and was thinking the same as what the first poster said >_>
Windrider
Rozalin I would suggest being lvl 50.
Kain Nosgoth

Windrider
