I saw some clips of the new Transformers film.
By Michael Bay, the crappest twat ever.
Its live action.
Its going to be terrrible.
Its so grey, and miserable looking.
The Transformers didnt look very good either.
They dont look right.
Why would they do it?
its like making Dragonball Z or YuGiOh live.
It wouldnt work.
I hope its good , but i have not got high hopes for it.
Anyone remember War Of The Worlds with the twat Tom Cruise?
I can see why they tried to make out its anime on a article i saw in a magazine.
They didnt show any pictures of the live action stuff.
In other words they are trying to smother an embarrassment.
Why couldnt they make a proper Anime movie?
Transformers is a Anime and Manga.
Not sad grey live action.

Michael Bay will make sure that the movie gets the production values that will make it at least decent.
I don't like him much myself, but his name behind a movie means a solid production for the entire film and I think that's some good news for all interested.
There's no reason why this should be in the anime forum though.

I saw a preview of this at Pirates 2, and I can't say it tickled my fancy...I was never a fan of the cartoon either, so...that probably is why. My oldest brother is looking forward to it though, so I dunno. I may or may not go to see it. Heck, I bothered to see Eragon, so I might well bother to see this...

yeah, eragon sucked... the pace was too fast compared to the book and i hated the main character, he looked like a pushover... im expecting the same for transformers but cooler..

I swear to God if Bay screws this up...I'll transfrom him...into something messy...
I'm already angry, they don't have that transforming sound effect when they change in the movie. I know, but still, it's not the same.

I think I'd feel more comfortable if Spielberg himself was spearheading it, but he's acting as executive producer, so I'm not all that concerned. Bay's known for emphasis on action rather than character development or plot, and considering it's Transformers, it should be in good hands.

I think this looks cooler than the cartoons. Transformers in the cartoons looked like those giant lego people and looked cheesy to me. This looks great, it's like bringing spider-man from the comics to the movies.

im interested really just for the fact its transformers, and thats enough to see the movie.. The transformers themselves, from what you can see in the preview dont look all too bad, well I really hate what they did to bumblebee, but other than that no complaints.. and I really dont see how you start to compare transformers to that no good piece of shite movie War of the Worlds.. but oh well..
it wont be anything amazing, and at times will most likely blow chunks.. but I still see it being a solid view.. if nothing else it might make you laugh

its called money.. thats why hollywood does it Yeah but there are better ways to make money than dissapointing the fans of old cult favourites... Generally these kinds of films are not very well recieved and although a profit is generally made it gives the companies involved a bad reputation. Why hollywood insists on making these sorts of films is beyond me... The only thing I can really see is merchandise...

come on, lets not get started talking about terrible movies like that.. and I dont think the companies care, they just want the immediate profits now of the movie and merchandise, thats it.. because even if people are mad that they screwed up their favorite old cartoon, it wont stop people from seeing another movie the company puts out.. they will still make money

The Transformers movie that is coming out is a must watch for me. I watched the old Generation 1 Transformers, Beast Wars, Robots in Disguise, Armada so yeah I'm a fan of it. Most of the people think it's gonna be crap just because it's not the original story from the transformers and that they don't look like original selves.
But what do you people want?! Make it like a cartoon? Then it will be for a kids. And why should they? With this they will make the old fans watch and the ones that never saw transformers cartoon. So it looks like War of the Worlds but I say it only looks more interesting. From what I have saw on trailers it looks pretty damn good. I'm not a fan of Michael Bay but I trust that he will do the good job. Transformation sound? Yeah I like the old one but putting it into movie would be a joke damn it. Flame on Optimus? I don't give a damn as long it's him. Peter Cullen is doing the voice again for Prime so that's a big plus. Megan Fox? Good choice if I can say so myself.
Just look at Spiderman or X-man and you will see that movie made of cartoon and comics don't have to suck. If it's not gonna be great then I'm betting it will at least be good. No matter how and if they blow it I'll still watch when it comes out.

also no soundwave in the movie, which i think is a rip, I mean they got Frenzy in the movie as a CD Player, not sure why they didnt just do Soundwave, seeing as how huge he was in all the cartoons.. but here is a fanart of Soundwave that I think looks really cool
so far here is the list of autobots and decepticons in the movie that I found on IMDB
AutoBots :
Optimus Prime - Peterbilt semi truck
Bumblebee - 1974 Chevrolet Camaro (later reformatted as the 2008-2009 model of the same vehicle)
Jazz - Modified Hardtop Pontiac Solstice
Ironhide - GMC Topkick pickup truck
Ratchet - Hummer H2 (designed to look like a search and rescue vehicle)
Decepticons :
Megatron - Stealth bomber jet
Starscream - F-22 Raptor jet
Blackout - MH-53 Pave Low helicopter
Brawl - Modified M1 Abrams battle tank
Barricade - Saleen-modified Ford Mustang Police cruiser
Frenzy - CD player
Bonecrusher - Buffalo H Mine-Protected Vehicle
Scorponok - Mechanical Scorpion.

The whole idea was that the Transformers would be "realistic". Hence no mass shifting. Therefore Megatron can't shrink himself into a gun, Soundwave doesn't become a casette player etc etc.
Also according to rumour, Bumblebee, the most annoying Transformer ever, is now going to communicate through the medium of song. That's right, the FM radio will be his primary means of communication, with different songs relating his mood.
I'm not a fan of Bay ("Job has all his children killed, and Michael Bay gets to keep making movies. There isn't a God") and would rather Spielberg was directing rather than producing but you can't have everything. I'll go see it but I won't have high expectations as it would be impossible to replicate the look and feel of watching the old G1 for the first time. Either I'll be pleasantly suprised or I will be too stuck in the past.

I think Voyou san is right. Companies make movies to make money, no body really will stop going to there movies if they are bad they just get a lot of complaints. An example in my opinion the Hulk was a horrible movie, but if the same agency makes another movie that looks good odds are I will prolly see it

problem is they have frenzy turning into a CD Player so why not soundwave.. but after i made this post i answered my own question.. if they make soundwave, then they have to make rumble and lazerbeak and thats extra cash that mabye they did not want to spend.. the whole idea about bumbleebee communicating like that is lame
also i found out bumblebee is a camero because they could not get license from VW to use the bug, so there is a little tid bit of info for ya

Frenzy is going to be tiny. Like 1 foot tall. They could make Soundwave that size, but how many fans would you piss off in the process? Not even bay is THAT retarded.
However Soundwave is rumoured to be in the sequal, provided this film makes enough at the box office.

Neh, this movie just looks overall dissapointing. If they follow in the vain of the 80's Transformers (Generation one and two) and Beast Wars, then there will be absolutely no ##### problem with this movie. But, if they base it off of the new "M0r3 d4n m33ts d4 3y3!" Transformers that strives so badly to be an abomination love child of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gundam, then it's going to flop worse than The Postman.

It's probably out in US now though I don't know in other places. But it's definitely out in Singapore because I watched it and I love it. And since I don't have much memory of watching Transformers series so I can't say I was a fan and knew about the difference from the series and this movie, and I can't tell you guys how it compares.
Because of that, I didn't have much of an expectation either, except that I thought it's going to be pretty cool seeing cars and other vehicles turn into huge mecha and fight other huge mecha. And I really really like it, and am going to watch it again. The action and visual effects are stunning. Plot... well, none too bad for a non-Transformer fan like me, since I didn't really know much in the first place. The pacing is not bad, there's humor and some pretty funny pun, and the lady is hot~! The dude (main guy) is a bit of a loser which makes things more interesting. There's one hot guy though, somebody from the military side.
And the mecha... *drools* I'm not so much of a mecha fan but I like some mecha with pretty cool design. And these transformers really qualify. Frenzy is kinda idiotic. Bumblebee is so adorable. Optimus Prime is awe-inspiring (gosh how many wheels are there?). The scorpion and helicopter are way wicked, and they appear first. And Megatron... awesome. That's probably how the ultimate mecha villain should be, to me.

Throwing in dialogue practically identical to the battle from the animated movie, along with a slew of other references sealed the deal for me. I have to admit, Bay's films are usually hit or miss with me, with no in between. So I was a bit skeptical walking in about how he would handle something I've been following since kindergarten. But I was pleasantly surprised.
I was very impressed with just the fluid physics of the Autobots and Decepticons themselves, let alone the battles. Everything seemed so seamless and believable. And of course, the return of Peter Cullen as Optimus. I really liked the voice-overs in general actually. Hugo Weaving did Megatron wonderfully, I thought, even after I had become so used to Frank Welker and Gary Chalk over the years.
I definitely plan on seeing it once more in theaters, and the DVD release is a given.

Yay, fellow fan of the movie! Yesh, I'm going to buy the DVD when it releases too. Actually, if I have the money, I would even invest in a Blue-ray copy of it just to watch it in all its high definition glory, but I'm poor as hell. The special effects are just too amazing.
I read about there being a sequel and while I wonder what sort of plot they can use, I can't help but be excited about it. More Transformers = <3!

I love the opening post for this topic because it's the complete opposite.
This movie rocked. Period. All of the robot fight scenes were amazing. And I was pleasantly surpised with the human parts of the movie since I thought they were going to be boring and bring down the movie.
And yes Asuka, I noticed it as well. It's neat when they do little things like that that you can pick up on.

I went to see it about a week ago and it far exceeded my expectations, which weren't very high because I just though I'd go see it for fun, whether it was good or bad. But man was it good. It had a lot more funny scenes than I expected from this kind of film. Basically I laughed in every other scene pretty much all throughout the film until the last 15 minutes or so which were more "serious". Some of the jokes were dead on and everyone in the theatre were laughing really hard, including me and my friends.
Some of my favortes were when they try to call Pentagon and that Indian operator answers. And when they first see Bumblebee. "It's some sort of super advanced robot." "It's probably Japanese." "Yeah, definitely Japanese."
I can see what my friend meant now when he said that some of the fight scenes were too zoomed in. You can't see much of what's going on. Some tumbling and rolling here and there. But it wasn't always like that. When Starscream showed up and owned those F-22's was one of the main highlights of the film for me, since he's my favorite.
This movie was really really good. Better than all the Spiderman movies. I would recommend anyone to see it, you don't have to be a transformers fan to like it.

Well I stopped liking Transformers years ago so I never expected to get much from the movie, but I was way off there because I thought it was great.
The detail on the robots was amazing, and the actual fight scenes were even better, though occasionally the sounds were a little ear piercing. The only part I didn't really get was at the end where the jets were chasing after Starscream, but after flying around a building started bombing the hell out of Megatron, so what happened to Starscream I don't know. Also the scorpion one in the desert, I don't believe they ever finished it off after the time they blew it's tail off.
Apart from that though I don't have any complaints, lots of action, and you have to love that tiny little one that was totally screwing the humans over until the end, it was one of the rare times I actually laughed out loud in the cinema, along with the rest of them.

This movie was incredibly funny and so terribly written. The original script for this movie was written in a coloring book in crayon. I don't hate the movie, I actually liked it, but it was one of those, "its so bad its funny" things. Like TED mentioned, Prime mentioning eBay was really dumb, and one thing that made it funny, and the same thing with the lame excuse of, when asked how they knew english, they answered, "the internet" which was incredibly lame.
But the best part in the whole movie is when Prime catches Shia LaBeouf (who sucked btw, but I just hate him for some reason) and Prime says, "If we don't make it through this, push the all spark into my chest." I could not stop laughing when he said that, this movie was so badly written that it was funny.

So you've never seen the cartoon then? It's actually pretty true to it, including the spark in his chest. Stop being so god damn cynical and enjoy a movie for what it is. It's a hollywood movie. Sounds to me like you wanted to hate it before you even saw it.
And precisley how is it lame for a living COMPUTER to learn things from the internet? It's not exactly perfect, but for explaining GIANT LIVING ROBOTS THAT TRANSFORM INTO CARS I think they did it aswell as possible, given the source material. You come up with something better.
Grahf
Jul 20 2007, 08:19 AM
no no no, you misunderstand, I love transformers the cartoon, and I know the thing about the spark in his chest, its just how he said "push the all spark into my chest" that made me laugh. I liked the movie it was just badly written and quite clearly a huge GM Cars commercial, as they were just showing off GM brand cars, such as all the dealerships that are constantly shown, how everyone in the movie drove GM cars, and how Bumblebee turns into a 5th gen camaro (which isn't even available to anyone in the world yet, and is really only a concept car at the moment).
As for wanting to hate it, I actually had fairly high expectations for the movie, but I didn't realize it was going to be so...comedy driven. It wasn't a bad movie, its just the writing was fairly bad (how Jazz's first line being "what's crackin' bitches?", and Michael Bay's whole part in the movie (the cop with the gun who asked LaBeouf if he was on drugs)) Also, many lines were just badly worded and could have been written better, such as my example of Prime telling Sam to "push the all spark into his chest" which completely sounded like Prime was coming on to him.
It is lame for a living computer to learn a complete language from the internet because the writers could not think of any other reason as to why they would know english.
Don't get me wrong, its not a bad movie by any means, and I enjoyed it quite a lot, but I enjoyed it as in, I was entertained by the comedy aspect of it, I didn't really find it to be good because of the drama or action (well, the action was pretty good too)

I refuse to give it another chance. It's one of those huge summer blockbusters and I'm REALLY not into that kind of thing. It's aimed at too broad of an audience, and as we all know my taste is razor thin... That and Transformers weren't really a part of me growing up or anything so I don't really feel any special attachment to anything in the movie like I would in say... A Ninja Turtles Movie ( And not the new one I didn't end up seeing )
It wasn't my kind of movie and it will not be getting a second chance. That and it has that guy from the Las Vegas TV show.
