Over the weekend I was at the library looking around when I found several books on old Nintendo games. This inspired me so much I went home, got my old NES out, and started playing my favorite games. I have:

The Legend Of Zelda
Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt
Mission: Impossible
Ninja Gadien
Tecmo Bowl
Gilligan's Island (Better than it sounds)
My friend's copy of Dragon Warrior 1

and several others I can't think of right now. So I was wondering what used games I should buy at pawn shops. What would you recommend besides the dead obvious ones?
Valince
Collection is not complete without Actraiser. Double Dragon I-III and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Athrun

Hey! Have any of you played Top Gun? That was good too.
The Evil Dead
The NES is an alright system... Of course it was wonderful back in the day, but I'll be damned if I can play any of the games for more than five minutes now.

I wouldn't say it's all that great either... I remember always having to blow out dust or whatever on all the cartridges, turning the system on and off over and over again, and all sorts of other crap to get the games to function. It was the beginning of a new age of gaming, but it's not that great of a system if you really think about it.

My favorites:

Dragon Warrior 4
Double Dragon 2
Battletoads and Double Dragon ( I think that's what the game is called )
Super Mario Brothers 3
Gradius ( I think that's what it is )
Blaster Master

I'm missing a bunch of titles because I can't think of anything more. I forgot about the Nintendo ages ago after I DLed the roms and the games bored me to all hell.

Ikari Warriors

Is that the game that is. . . "up scrolling" and you control these little dudes killing stuff? My friend stumpled upon a button code in that game that makes it so you can always come back upon death. We had so much fun in that game. Ugh too bad the NES is such a hard system to repair.

No but I've played something with a similar theme. After Burner. I HATED that game. I never got of the first stage.

No mention of Kid Icarus? Great game and worth a challenge. I still can't beat that game.

You want hard game? Just try Contra. I can't even get through level 2. It's near impossible for me to dodge all the bullets flying at you during that game. I can't even imagine how much harder the later levels of the game are.

Another game people likely never played would be Tiny Toons Adventure. It's a funny adventure game. Even worth a challenge to boot. I enjoyed playing the game.

Yup... If I remember right there were 3 NES titles and all 3 had that code you could put in where you'd always come back after dying if playing on 2 players.

Totally forgot to mention Contra. Contra is an awesome game and actually I've been to the final level with just the 3 guys you start out with... Definitely a much easier game to beat with the 30 lives code though. I don't remember ever beating the title without that code.

I owned that damn game... I don't remember enjoying it all that much though but I played it anyway because I owned it.

I suppose I forgot to mention Metroid. That was a pretty solid title even if there were all sorts of weird glitches in the game. I remember you could go through walls in certain areas by bombing them out and you'd end up in some really weird rooms and places in the game.

I never own Nintendo, but when I was about 7, I used to go to my friend's house and play his NES console.

Mario Bros
Snow brothers
Bandit kings of Ancient China
Battletoads LAWL
Donkey Kong
Bomberman
Bubble bobble
California games
GI JOE
Tetris, classic =)

Had never tried Zelda, coz it's so time consuming. Oh regrets...

There was a code like that for Contra? o.o; I wish I knew it instead of giving up all the time when I used to play the game.

Then again, I don't even remember beating an NES games when I was a kid since I wasn't very good at video games back then nor did I really want to except with certain titles.

We had a pretty large collection, but I was very partial with sticking with:

Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros. (1 - 3)
Excite Bike
Tetris
Contra
Duck Hunt
Dragon Warrior

I didn't really play any of the other games until I was older. ^^;;

We're talking about NES here though, not SNES.

I never played that game past the first level. It was a guy wearing diapers flying around shooting things. Didn't seem like my type of game.

Yeah that was the game. I remember using that code as well, and how frustrating it was when we failed to make it work after getting very far into the game.

Excite Bike

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that awesome game. But we used to call it Exit Bike. =p
Kokiri
Oh yeah, Monopoly! It's great as a multiplayer game!

My favorite Nintendo games are Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Super Dodge Ball. Super Dodge Ball was a great family game.
I know with Duck Hunt my mother was trigger happy.
Athrun
I wonder how many played Anticipation? That was a fun game. You had to spell stuff that they draw on screen. =p
Kokiri
Never heard of it. It might be overshadowed.
